In San Francisco, Jennifer and Nancy run a perfume shop. Jennifer develops a special perfume out of ingredients Nancy says are too expensive. Then Jennifer takes the perfume to the skyscraper where husband Danny is working. She takes the elevator used by construction crews to the 28th floor and she and Danny make out in the elevator, where others can see what they are doing. While Danny makes his breakfast, Jennifer is disappointed when she takes a pregnancy test and finds she is not pregnant. She tells Danny they must not miss date night. Danny has a meeting with the building's architect but he promises to be there. At his workplace, Steve says everyone is talking about Jennifer's sex life. Then a beautiful woman, dressed professionally but wearing a very short skirt, gets out of a limo. Lindsay asks who the boss is and Danny says that he is the boss, and they go up to the 28th floor for their meeting. Danny is not in charge of the entire project, but just the elevators. Danny and Jennifer go to a Japanese restaurant where people sing karaoke. It is Soul Night and everyone is singing Motown songs. Most of the people singing are talented. Then Danny and Jennifer have their turn, and they sing "Love Will Keep Us Together", which is not a Motown song, and they are terrible. Danny and Jennifer have sex in Candlestick Park and a pool hall restroom. Nancy is dating a mortician. Eventually, she uses Jennifer's special perfume and announces she had a really hot night at the crematorium. Jennifer goes to Dr. Felber, who tells her she is fine and the problem with getting pregnant must be Danny's. First Jennifer replaces Danny's briefs with boxers, which angers Danny. Holly is an overly enthusiastic ten-year-old who would like to baby-sit when the time comes. She invites Jennifer to her soccer game and says the girls like her cookies. Lindsay has several more meetings with Danny. She says there is a building being renovated in Seattle where Danny's skills would be useful. Rather than tell Danny to get tested, Jennifer secretly collects a semen sample during sex and stores it in a butter container, then takes the container to Dr. Felber to be tested. The results: Danny has what are later called "lazy swimmers" and Dr. Felber recommends a fertility specialist. Jennifer and Danny watch the "I Love Lucy" scene where Lucy tells Ricky she is pregnant. Jennifer does not tell Danny what she has done but he agrees to go to the clinic, even though he is not that enthusiastic about having children. At the fertility clinic, Nurse Wheeler is the receptionist. Her personality is such that Danny comments to Jennifer that he now knows what happened to Nurse Ratched. The couple hears another couple's horror story while filling out paperwork. After the couple meet with Dr. Chin, Nurse Wheeler takes Danny in the room with erotic videos and other aids. He cannot perform and asks for Jennifer. After testing, Danny is told the problem is that his sperm aren't getting to their destination the normal way, so artificial insemination will be necessary. Outside the office, the couple see several families with children. Danny and Steve talk about what it is like to have children. Danny says he would rather have a child that has his genes rather than adopt. Steve says he can have one of his, though they are grown. It is one way to get them out of the house. In bed, Danny tells Jennifer he wants a baby with "a smile like yours". The first try is unsuccessful, so the couple try again. And again. And again. And again. A good-looking man named Richard steps out of a limo talking on a phone and asks for a shop to be investigated. The attempts to have children are expensive. Danny may have to consider that job in Seattle. Jennifer and Nancy have a meeting in a plush office after they get an offer for what they are calling 7th Scent. They are surprised to see a large group of men in suits, and a few women. Richard makes his offer and Jennifer turns him down. As Jennifer explains to Nancy, if they offer that much, they're willing to pay much more. Richard has another meeting with Jennifer and Nancy in a nice restaurant. This time he offers a half million dollars and a share of the profits. Jennifer is careful to make sure they also get royalties if the 7th Scent brand is expanded with new products. Also at a nice restaurant, Danny meets with Lindsay, who walks in wearing a dress so hot her entrance music is "I Got You" by James Brown. Danny has to leave early when he sees Nurse Wheeler, and he sneaks out hoping she won't see him. Danny sees Jennifer get in a limo with Richard and assumes the worst. He also finds the bill from Dr. Felber for tests he never authorized, not even knowing how he was able to be tested. He gets angry with Jennifer and announces he will go to Seattle. Jennifer goes to the airport to stop Danny but Lindsay is with him, in a short skirt as usual. Jennifer leaves angrily. She doubts there is even a construction project. In Seattle, Danny has a really nice suite, which it turns out he will share with Lindsay. Danny and Lindsay have a candlelight dinner and Lindsay is wearing another hot dress. Lindsay makes her intentions clear but Danny protests that he is married. Yet they still kiss. Danny gives in and the kiss continues. The next day Lindsay is in bed and she reaches over but Danny is not there. Danny slept on the couch. But while he is in the shower, Jennifer calls and Lindsay answers the phone. Jennifer assumes the worst and announces that when Danny comes home, she won't be there. Danny says he is going home. However, a terrible storm has canceled the flight he intended to take. A budget airline is flying, however. An extremely perky ticket agent named Kathi who talks like a recording takes his money and Danny gets on a very unpleasant flight. Kathi welcomes him, while another flight attendant has a very bad attitude. For a while it appears that Danny and Jennifer are finished. Danny visits Jennifer's mother who says Jennifer is not there. However, Lindsay meets with Jennifer and says as hard as she tried, Danny would not be unfaithful. Steve calls Danny to the building at night saying there is an electrical problem. Danny goes up to the 28th floor where Jennifer has prepared a fancy dinner for them. They talk about what they will do. Instead of trying so hard, they will just let nature take its course and if they can, they will have children. Nancy and her groom leave the large church surrounded by many people after their wedding. They get in a hearse painted with the words "Til death do us part". Two years later Danny and Jennifer get out of their vehicle with triplets.
