Brothers Vito (Antonio Folletto) and Antonello (Vincenzo Nemolato) were in a fix when they figured they would have to let go of the apartment they had been living in since they were born. As a father to a toddler, Vito needed to find a full-time job to win the sole custody of his child, but he was always rejected when he explained in interviews that his little boy might accompany him to work on some days. Vito could not financially rely on his brother either. Antonello always got into trouble, and he came up with new scams every other day, like stealing phones on the subway. According to City Hall, the building was on the verge of collapsing. From cockroach infestation to leaky pipelines, some or the other problems always cropped up. However, they did not pay any heed to the issues. They were out of work and having a place they could always call home was the only silver lining in their lives. Things changed when Vito discovered that Antonello had received a notice stating that their apartment would be auctioned. Vito immediately assumed his brother had messed up again, but Antonello claimed to have no idea about the mentioned auction. He handed Vito a bunch of mail he hadn't opened, fearing that he might have to pay fines for some mess he couldn't even remember. Vito discovered that the letters were sent by the De Leonardi firm, and apparently, his brother was in debt and owed the firm fifty thousand euros, which is why the court ordered the auction of Antonello's apartment to recover the money. As it turned out, for five hundred euros a month, Antonello and his friend, Salvatore, had taken up a shady job where they had to pretend to be property owners for a company so that their business did not seem sketchy. They had no idea that the job would leave Antonello in debt, and Vito suggested that the only way they could get out of the mess was by talking to Mr. De Leonardi. They arrived at his office, only to find that he was absent, and his daughter wouldn't be available for the next month and a half. Vito and Antonello were hell-bent on meeting her, and they decided to follow her to an event her father had organized. Even though they successfully entered the event, they did not get to speak to Marina (Laura Adriani). But to Vito's surprise, his brother had stolen her phone. He discovered that Marina donated ten thousand euros annually to a dog shelter, and Antonello suggested that if only they could manage to grab her attention as a non-profit organization, she might well donate money to them. To gain her trust first, he advised Vito to build a friendship with her. Since they already had her schedule, he could show up at places she frequented and become her one true friend. According to Antonello, Marina's relationship with Federico (Loris De Luna) lacked sentimentality, and they mostly exchanged work-related messages. Vito was not convinced, but that was before social workers showed up at his doorstep to assess the living conditions of little Napoleon. While they appreciated Vito's dedication as a parent, they reminded him that he needed to find a well-paying job, and the only reason his son hadn't been taken away was because he had a permanent roof above his head. Vito started to show up at every spot Marina frequented. They initially assumed she would take an interest immediately after Vito discussed his charitable organization and his earnest wish to serve the downtrodden. But it was not as easy to win Marina. She ignored Vito and considered him bad luck because he always showed up at the wrong place and time. They met for the first time in an elevator, which got stuck (and she was claustrophobic and had a panic attack instead). Vito goes to Marina's yoga class, but she accuses him of stalking her. He gets her car towed for being parked in a disabled spot (Marina believes that bad things happen when Vito is around) and then gives her a lift on his scooter. But Vito won her trust when he invited her to 'his' restaurant (Vito was a part-time cleaner at the establishment). He encouraged her to cook a dish, knowing that was the only activity she thoroughly enjoyed, and Vito was right. Marina whipped up a pasta dish, and for the first time in a while, she felt truly happy. Vito and Antonello plan a fake charity event at the restaurant on Wednesday, as that is the weekday on which the restaurant is closed. Vito invites Marina to cook and claims that his regular chef broke his arms, and he needs help. Marina doesn't agree at first, but later texts Vito and confirms her participation. Marina started to spend more and more time with Vito. She felt connected with him when they went fishing together late at night. Vito too developed feelings for her but chose not to indulge, knowing that he had an ulterior motive. He felt a deep connection with her when he introduced her to baby Napoleon. She had asked him if raising his child alone had been difficult for him, and Vito had responded, saying Caravaggio's painting inspired him to take the plunge. Instead of thinking the worst, he at the time thought that life had presented him with a blank canvas, and it was on him to create a masterpiece, and for him, Napoleon was truly his masterpiece. Vito's courage inspired Marina, and she was a little less stressed about cooking for the guests at the charity event Vito had invited her to. Antonello had his neighbors and friends dressed as distinguished guests for the event, and they organized an event so they could ask Marina to contribute as well. She was elated when the guests applauded after she stepped out of the kitchen. It had been a perfect day for her, and when Vito mentioned that they had not raised their target amount, she offered to help. She had transferred the money, and Vito was about to receive it the next day, but instead of celebrating the success of their plan, Vito started to rethink everything. Antonello was disappointed when Vito explained that he did not wish to accept the money. Vito proposed they empty their apartment and move abroad to escape the social workers. He had realized he could not live in peace knowing that he had betrayed someone like Marina. To Vito's surprise, Marina was waiting for him at Salvatore's garage. As it turned out, Marina's boyfriend, Federico, had followed Vito to the garage after waiting outside the restaurant and seeing Marina and Vito together. He presumably overheard Vito and Antonello's conversation, and he told Marina that she had been scammed, and it was all part of a grand plan. Vito tried to explain himself, but Marina refused to listen, and she walked away. Vito and Antonello left their apartment and temporarily started living in Salvatore's garage. Meanwhile, the De Leonardi firm bought the building and was ready to demolish it and build a one-of-a-kind luxury hotel there. After reading the news, Vito and Antonello figured out that the building never had any problems with it, and it was all a massive conspiracy to compel the apartment owners to sell their apartments and empty the building. Vito confronted Marina, stating how her firm was responsible for the rat invasion, the plumbing issues, and ultimately the risk of collapse only to fulfill their selfish interest. Since they were the only ones who had refused to move even after all the 'danger' that the building posed, the firm scammed Antonello and accused him of owing them fifty thousand euros, fully aware that the brothers would not manage to clear it. Marina was completely clueless, and she immediately headed to her office and went through every document pertaining to the building. She soon realized that Federico had conspired with and bribed Carmine Formisano, the building officer of Naples City Hall, to declare the risk of collapse. He had bought every apartment in the building for a cut-rate price. Marina accused Federico of scamming the owners, but he claimed he had gone above and beyond for the De Leonardi firm to build the hotel of their dreams. Marina's father, Vittorio (Roberto De Francesco), was startled to discover that his would-be son-in-law had lied to him and had put the reputation of his firm on the line for his personal gain. When Marina instructed him to cancel the demolition and the construction plan, Federico warned her that if they tried to expose him, he would make sure that Marina and her father too faced the consequences of it. Seeing no other option, Marina sought help from Vito and Antonello. She offered them a chance to save their building, and she planned to follow Federico to find out why he canceled his meeting with the mayor. She and Vito followed Federico, and they discovered that he was bribing the building officer in exchange for some documents and also his silence. Vito video-recorded the exchange, and Marina was determined to take the issue to court. When Federico noticed Marina there, he reminded her that she was working on the project with him as well, and that made her his co-conspirator. But Marina begged to differ, stating that he was the one who always took the important decisions and never consulted with her. After confronting Federico, Marina, and Vito returned to discover that Vittorio had stopped the demolition. The guilt of forcing people out of their houses kept him up at night as well, and he decided to take action. He had decided to cancel the construction, and he handed out the apartment keys to the respective owners. Vito was content, and he wanted to share the happy moment with Marina, but she reminded him that just because they had worked together to solve a problem did not mean that everything was alright between them. Marina tells her father that she was excited to explore her culinary interest, and her father supported her decision. Antonello realized that his love scam plan had created a rift between his brother and the woman he had fallen in love with. After Vito's partner walked away from him, leaving behind their child, he assumed he would stay away from romantic relationships. But after meeting Marina, his opinion changed, and Antonello did not wish for their love story to end on a sad note. Antonello stole his brother's phone and left it in Marina's bag. He left her a message asking Marina to listen to the voice note Vito had left him after she had decided to transfer the money to his account. Marina played the audio and realized that Vito had not intended to accept the money because he had fallen in love with her. Spending time with her helped Vito realize how she was quite like him even though they came from two different worlds. After listening to the audio, Marina surprised Vito at the restaurant he worked at and kissed him. Vito, Marina, and Antonello had started a 'deconstructed' restaurant together. Marina was the head chef, Antonello was the server and manager, and Vito was in charge of the logistics. Vito discovered that the judge had granted him sole custody.
