Nathalie Peña Comas, like many Dominicans, received the oral history of Our Virgin Mary of Altagracia through her relatives, and over the years this devotion has been latent within her every step she's taken into her personal and professional life. Now, she's become a professional soprano and dedicated an album to her devotion in appreciation of what she's meant in her life. Yet, her curiosity has remained as strong as her devotion, as she's always wanted to find answers as how this belief has remained strongly rooted in the Dominican culture for five centuries. Nathalie is going to embark in a personal pilgrimage to find answers and unravel many mysteries that revolve around this ancient tradition and the origin of the legend of her apparition, going over the many events and miracles attributed to Our Virgin Mary of Altagracia, the temples dedicated to her like the Basilica of Higüey and San Dionisio, today national treasures, and Hoyoncito, a place that has not yet been explored, that some say is where the original painting miraculously first appeared. Nathalie meets with experts who have dedicated their life's work to Our Virgin Mary of Altagracia, intellectuals from diverse backgrounds that will shed light to her question. Throughout Nathalie's journey into the heart this devotion, a retelling of the most popular contemporary version of the legend of the apparition of Our Virgin Mary of Altagracia will be brought to life for the first time using the artwork of local naïf painter José Morillo and 3D animation.
