Field postmen and railway employees deliver letters from soldiers from areas of fierce combat operations to different parts of the country under fire and bombing. One postcard goes a long way from the sender to the addressee, falling into the hands of an inexperienced fireman, a nurse on a medical train and the head of the Red Army's military communications department. Each of them heroically fights on their own section of the front, trying at any cost to bring the long-awaited Victory closer.
