In a parking lot, a girl is walking to her car while texting. She is attacked by somebody near her car and thrown into the trunk of a red color car. Cut to Maggie, a peppy/pretty nanny who is casually hit on by her boss Frederick while Kristen, his wife, isn't around. They are a wealthy family with weekends in The Hamptons and a sauna in their home. Kristen is oblivious to her husband making passes at the attractive nanny. Maggie goes out for drinks with her best friend Hannah and shares her concerns about Fredrick hitting on her. Maggie considers getting her master's and leaving the au pair life behind. Just as Maggie is about to tell the family that she will be moving on, they gift her an expensive necklace for Christmas. Maggie chickens out and offers to work part-time. The family is caught off guard, and the kids get upset. Frederick asks Maggie to talk in his study. While they are alone, he propositions her for sex. Maggie slaps him across the face, and he fires her on the spot. Maggie leaves her wallet there, and Frederick throws it in the trash. Kristen fishes it out. Out on her own with no place to stay, Maggie calls Hannah from a payphone. She is almost hit by a car and then files a police report with the handsome Deputy Holden Hayes. Maggie shares that she thinks Frederick could have been driving the vehicle since he was so angry when he fired her. Deputy Holden Hayes warns Maggie of accusing a powerful/wealthy man without proof. He gives her his card and tells her to call him day or night. Maggie stays at a cheap motel, like red light special kind of place. Someone tries to key into her room in the middle of the night. She has a job interview for another au pair job. The new father, Mike, seems to be a lot less of a creep. Mid-interview, he gets a call and abruptly asks her to leave. Maggie meets with Kristen to get her wallet and tells Kristen about her husband's infidelities. Deputy Holden Hayes gets a call from a jogger who finds a body buried in the snow. It is the remains of the kidnapped woman, and she has been missing for a year. Without a nanny gig lined up, Maggie stops by a diner and meets a woman named Ruth, who offers her a job to help her get back on her feet. Maggie is attacked in her motel room and a stairwell leaving Frederick's office. Both times, Deputy Holden is there to help quickly. Maggie opens up to him about being sexually assaulted by her boss. Kristen's mother falls and needs taken care of, so she leaves town and asks Maggie to spend the night; Maggie reluctantly agrees and spends the night with the kids and Frederick. Frederick sneaks out in the middle of the night. While he is out, Maggie finds a clipping about the missing girls and nanny cams around the house. She brings the evidence to Deputy Holden. Hannah is run over by a car very randomly. Deputy Holden brings Frederick in for question about the missing woman's disappearance and the car incident with Hannah. Frederick denies everything. He uses what he has learned for Maggie against him. Maggie takes the kids to school and talks Kristen down because she is freaking out. Kristen has bruises on her arms and down anti-anxiety pills. Maggie explains that Kristen has been gaslit by her husband for years. Then Frederick comes home. He is pissed. Frederick smashes a vase and screams at Maggie. When she makes a run for it, she grabs her and tells her that he didn't kill the first nanny but will kill her. Then he is knocked out with a snow shovel by Kristen. Maggie thinks she is saved but is also knocked out by Kristen. Kristen killed the nanny and framed Fredrick for the murder. She stabs her husband with a knife and tries to take Maggie out as well, but Maggie saves herself, and, as usual, Deputy Holden is quickly nearby. He arrests Kristen.
