The story of a friendship from the early eighties in Hungary, when socialism still seemed to be on firm ground and the partys power was thought to be eternal. Zoli and Miki are best friends. They sit at the same desk and spend their time together after school. But their parents cannot stand each other. Zolis father, one of the few to oppose the system, writes pamphlets and edits an underground paper in an effort to call attention to the hypocrisy of the communist ideology, while Mikis father is the party secretary of district, who reached a high position at a young age and he makes decisions on peoples lives as he pleases. The two totally different men get into a forced contact from time to time because of their children's friendship. The only common thing is their interest in the young and pretty schoolteacher woman of their kids. Then, a school excursion changes their fate peremptorily
