Frank & Lola

The film travels between Argentina and Senegal following Ababacar (23) and Mbaye (27). They met years ago in a small hotel in Buenos Aires. Mbaye taught Ababacar how to sell and they became close friends. Ababacar arrived in Argentina being a minor. He finished high school, got a job as a translator at the National Ombudsman's Office thanks to Marcos (35), his former tutor, and now has an Argentinian girlfriend named Florencia (22). Mbaye continues selling jewelry on the streets and remains closed to the Argentinian way of life. After five years, he has managed to raise the money to travel back to Senegal to visit his family. During this journey, Mbaye meets with his former business partner Khadim (26) and his friend Daouda (28). Khadim has done well financially and this disturbs Mbaye, who has begun to wonder whether going abroad has been a good decision. But Daouda wants to emigrate and asks Mbaye for advice. Mbaye doesn't want to show his doubts about his emigration or to look diminished before Khadim, who observes them in silence. Mbaye is not certain if he will return to Argentina or if he will try his luck in Brazil. He's obsessed with money. He lost his father when he was 13 and has to support his family. Meanwhile in Buenos Aires, Ababacar prepares to marry Florencia, his Argentinian girlfriend. He also wants to go visit his family and see his daughter, whom he has seen only once in his life. He wants to establish a father-daughter bond with her before it's too late. But he does not know whether to marry or travel first. We follow Ababacar in his daily life as he decides what he will do. Back in Buenos Aires, the two friends meet again. We attend to these intimate talks in which they expose their opposite views on Senegalese customs, immigration, marriage and Argentine idiosyncrasy. Meanwhile, the afternoon takes away the last moments that they will share until who knows when.
