Gabby Giffords Won't Back Down
Filmed at remote locations in Bulgaria, over a period of 29 months, portraying breath-taking nature, "POLLY" presents the life of a devoted beekeeper who abandoned life in the city. A brave, unexpected, little hero comes to his aid. Meet Vladi. Together with his charming wife, the young couple starts a new life in the remote, historic and picturesque village of Kakrina. Their passion for beekeeping compels them to invest everything they have into their new occupation. Vladi has placed his hives in a forgotten, abandoned village nearby, hidden within ancient ruins, dating hundreds of years ago. The location is extremely difficult to reach and the energy if the surroundings is absolutely unique. Located on a steep ridge, overlooking a mesmerizing lake from a vertical rock, the village of Debelcovo dates back to the Roman empire and there is a symbolic meaning, linked to the ancient, everlasting nature of the bees as a species that is responsible for planetary evolution ever since the dawn of time. There we find Polly, the bee, our unexpected, heroic narrator. Dark and mysterious, "POLLY" is a cry for help, carrying a message to all of humanity. With its original masterpiece electronic soundtrack featuring talented Japanese composer Reiko Nomura the production is a contemporary piece that mixes classic documentary techniques with stunning cinematic compositions, trying to reach the viewer on a subconscious, deeply emotional level. —Vasil Nikolov
