Two years after the previous film, Detectives Rook and Griff are brought back together to capture Daniel McCoy Maloy, the infamous crime lord they let go previously. The movie opens with a man entering an unknown theater. He makes his way to the back of his shop and notices that the back door has been left open. He rushes through the building, looking for anything amiss. Eventually in the basement, he is grabbed and beaten to death by a man in a pig mask. Detective Rook recaps the story to the Netflix Camera crew and heads out to meet with Griff. At their new office, Griff explains the theories that he has been making. He believes that McCoy's whereabouts correlate with: the disappearance of a film company called Lausey Films, some random child beheadings, the CEO of Netflix, and the appearance of a new serial killer known as Pretentious Piggy. Griff then introduces Rook to Bodyguard, a 12 year old he got on Craigslist. As Rook and Griff discuss their next step, the lights go out in their building and they find themselves running from Piggy himself. Soon, the pair become split up. Griff hides under a foosball table and sends a final message to all his loved ones. Rook makes a deal with Piggy: Rook will pay Piggy to go away. Eventually, Rook meets back up with the Cameraman. Also, Griff is saved by his faithful Bodyguard. The four of them reconvene and escape the building. However, the final shot reveals that the Bodyguard has the Piggy mask. Rook cruises around to pick up Griff, listening to his favorite song---"Danger Zone". Griff and Bodyguard reflect on the side of a hill before being picked up by an angry Rook. Rook says that they need to forget about the incident with the Piggy and focus their attention back on finding McCoy. However, Griff thinks that catching Piggy might actually be a better way to get their old detective jobs back. Rook thinks he's dumb, but gives in. Griff decides they should go to McCoy's first killing spot (the location of The Grooks [2021]) to look for any lasting clues. Back at the woods, the Grooks discover that there is absolutely nothing to go off of. They wander the woods together and argue, as Bodyguard follows innocently behind. At one point, Bodyguard disappears into the woods. Griff and Rook come to the murder location of The Guy. Griff wonders if the placement of poison ivy is intentional, so Rook calls him a moron. They end up getting into an immature fight that ends with Griff on the ground. Rook tells Griff that he doesn't want to work him and that Grooks will never be a thing. Rook leaves Griff behind. In a shocking twist, Bodyguard reveals that he is, in fact, the true murderer. Griff goes to his grandfather's gravestone and tells him that he has failed. He says he is giving up on the detective life and that he is sorry for being a failure. He then sets down his grandfather's tape measure and leaves. Rook goes to the office of Captain Phillips and pleads for his job back. Phillips agrees, but on one condition: Rook must capture the Pretentious Piggy. Rook reluctantly agrees. Rook goes to the theater from the start of the movie and investigates the basement. He finds a note from the Piggy that tells him the Piggy's coordinates. Rook rushes out of the building, and it is revealed that Piggy was watching him the whole time. Listing to "Danger Zone", Rook rushes to the Piggy's lair, a run-down and abandoned haunted mall. He breaks in and begins his search in the dark. He eventually comes to a large room and meets Angela Smith, an internet microcelebrity who has a webseries called "Literally Slay!" where she investigates unsolved crimes and mysteries. Rook and Angela team up, heading deeper into the building to find Piggy. However, they get caught in a loop and find themselves back where they started. Angela talks about a second assailant within the building: a man in a baby mask. As they talk, Babyface comes out of the shadows and chases the two into a broken elevator. Rook slams the doors shut, locking them in the elevator, but soon a gas seeps in and knocks them out. Griff and Bodyguard shop together in Bath & Body Works. Later, Griff checks his phone and realizes that he has a missed called Rook, asking him for help. Griff tries to call back, but he's sent to voicemail; this worries Griff. Griff tracks Rook's location and races to save him. At Piggy's lair, Griff breaks in and begins searching for Rook. He search takes him deep into the lair, and he soon realizes that Bodyguard has again disappeared. He comes into a large dark room where he is jumped by Piggy. Piggy hits him in the head with a hammer, knocking him out. Rook wakes up tied to a gurney, as Babyface pushes him through the halls. Babyface takes Rook to a room with a large meat grinder. Babyface tries to get Rook to get in the meat grinder, but Rook refuses. Griff wakes up tied to a wheelchair. Piggy pushes Griff into a torture chamber. As Piggy tries to put his gloves on, he interrogates Griff. However, they have little words to share, so Griff just tells him to end it. Before he does, Piggy tells Griff that he never cared for him. Piggy rips off his mask, revealing that he is Bodyguard. Somewhere in the building, Angela screams, so Bodyguard leaves Griff. We switch to a POV of Angela's vlog. She wanders the building looking for Rook, but she comes upon Griff. She helps Griff out of his binds, and the two of them head out to find Rook. Eventually, they find Rook in the meat grinder room. When Babyface sees them, he runs away. Rook, Griff, and Angela decide to get out of the building for good. As they walk, Rook is grabbed from behind by Babyface, getting left behind. Rook and Babyface battle in one of the empty rooms. However, the fight is quick, and Rook is knocked to the ground. Griff and Angela come to the final room... where they find Bodyguard standing before them. Angela leaves because this is not her problem. Griff and Bodyguard have a brutal battle that ends with Griff's back against a wall and Bodyguard holding a chainsaw to his head. Suddenly, Babyface opens the back curtain and shoots Bodyguard in the back. Babyface rips off his mask and reveals that he is McCoy and that he is, in fact, the true murderer. Rook bursts through the door and knocks McCoy to the floor. McCoy then runs away. Rook helps Griff to his feet and the two of them finally escape the building. Back in the office of Phillips, the Grooks are offered their job back. However, Rook decides that he would rather stay working with Griff because Griff has always had his back. Phillips says that if they leave now, they will never have another chance again. Rook and Griff both turn him down. Rook and Griff drive away talking about how cool it was to stand up to Phillips. Griff says that now they have taken care of Piggy, does that mean they are officially the Grooks. Rook agrees. Griff asks what they need to do now. Rook says they'll need to go after McCoy. END CREDIT: Griff returns to his grandfather's grave and takes back his tape measure. He reveals his two greatest lessons: he's not a wimp and that Rook isn't that much of a dick. He then leaves to finally find McCoy.
