Going the Distance
Nick (Christopher Jacot) has it all figured out - marriage, a lucrative career and a totally different lifestyle from that of his West Coast hippy parents. Nick discovers that his future wife Trish (Katheryn Winnick) may be falling prey to a powerful and oversexed music producer Lenny Swackhammer (Jason Priestley). Nick had sex with Trish on the last day of High school, so they both don't graduate as virgins. Turns out Trish loved having sex and was looking forward to having a lot of it. Lenny has promised a summer job to Trish in media communications, and she hops on a flight to go with him. Trish will be with Lenny all summer and she only met Lenny the day before. Nick is worried that Trish never promised to stay loyal to him (before leaving she says that she would try, and it was not like they were engaged) and believes that she likes sex so much that she would sleep with Lenny. Nick's hippy parents try to set Nick up with someone "freer" than Trish, whom they think is controlling him. The girl who is a massage therapist, tries to seduce Nick by getting him to tie her bikini straps. Nick resists her and says that he is loyal to Trish. She learns that Trish has gone to the MuchMusic Video Awards and knows that she is doing an internship with Lenny. The hook-up tells Nick that Lenny has a reputation of having sex with a newbie every year at the music award (The MuchMusic Video Awards) that he organizes under his production banner. Nick is determined to fly to Toronto to win her back. He wants to propose to Trish. Lifelong buds and dedicated surfers Tyler (Shawn Roberts) and Dime (Ryan Belleville) have other ideas for their staid best friend - the road trip adventure of his life. Tyler and Dime are headed for college and this road trip is their last chance to have a complete blast. The guys get Nick drunk, and he falls asleep, thereby missing his flight. With only three days to make it to the MuchMusic Video Awards, the unlikely road warriors head off. Two sexy hitchhikers, Sasha (Joanne Kelly) and Jill (Mayko Nguyen), complicate matters when Tyler picks them up. The girls are struggling musicians. Dime has the hots for Jill. Nick was not in favor of picking up hitchhikers, specifically women as he considers them to be needy and wanting to stop every 10 minutes to take a leak and so on. Sasha tries to befriend Nick. Meanwhile Nick's parents hire special forces veteran Emile (August Schellenberg) to stop Nick from reaching Trish. Emile was kick out of the army as he killed the General's dog, after it bit him. Nick's parents tell Emile that it would be best if he does not reach Toronto, as he is horny and confused. Tyler sets fire to the girls camping gear when he accidentally drops a flaming marsh-mellow on it, at the campsite. The next day they are stopped by cops and Dime reveals that he is carrying a full stash of pot under the dashboard. The cop finds the stash and asks for a bribe to let them go. After the cop leaves, Nick takes all the weed and throws it in a stream (as he does not want to go through the same experience again) but is hit on the head when he runs away from a bear. When he wakes up Tyler gives him some pain killers, which turn out to be mushroom pills, and Nick goes to La La land for a few hours. The next morning, Jill goes skinny dipping and Tyler and Dime follow her and take pictures of her bathing naked in the water. Dime falls into the water when he leans too far forward from the cliff and has to be rescued by Jill. Nick notices Emile putting sugar in their gas tank. Nick and Sasha follow Emile and find a parked car in the woods, which has a police costume, indicating that Emile was the cop and is fake. Nick sabotages Emile's car and the gang drives off after Tyler and Dime are done being perverts. Emile follows them but Nick had attached heavy chains to his rear axle (attached to a tree) and the car simply comes apart as Emile tries to drive it. The gang is out of money now. They stop at a carnival to earn some quick cash. Meanwhile Emile catches up with them and goes to town on their van and removes many nuts and bolts. Then he forces the van to take a detour through a rough road where the parts start falling apart and the van comes to a stop on railway tracks. The kids barely jump out before the train rams into the van. But Emile thinks Nick couldn't jump out and died. The kids stumble onto a farm and are given shelter by Farmer Joseph (Matt Frewer). Joseph lives with his wife Mother Libby (Jackie Burroughs). They are parents to shy Josephine (Iris Graham). Josephine gives Dime & Jill a blow-job under the table. Joseph throws them out of the house. The kids end up at a karaoke bar where Sasha belts out a zinger song to win $300. Emile finds them alive at the bar and is relieved. Nick and Sasha end up having sex in a motel that night. The next day they catch a goods train that goes through Toronto. Nick tells Sasha that he is going to propose to Trish, angering her. The kids end up in Montreal as the train never stops at Toronto. The gang finds a rock band by pure luck, who was also headed to Toronto, and they hitch a ride on their private plane. Nick reaches Toronto & meets Trish. Nick finds that he doesn't love the girl anymore and instead loves Sasha. Emile catches up with Nick and stops him. But Nick tells him that he broke up with Trish and now loves Sasha. Nick follows her to a small fishing village where she was working as a waitress for her brothers in their fish and chips restaurant and proposes.
