Good Bones
Danny O'Brien is coming home to East Hampton from college. His father Joe has a real-estate business but is having financial trouble so he had to rent Danny's room. Joe is an ordinary guy who seems like he could be a blue-collar worker in New York City, only he doesn't have the accent. The absence of Danny's mom is not explained but they miss her. The solution to the O'Briens' financial problems is a nice parklike area with nine miles of waterfront being sold after one of the rich people passed away. There will be an auction later in the summer and the asking price is $300 million. Charles Schuyler, Joe's competition, has low moral standards. He is introduced as he talks to three of his employees, two pretty women and Lyle Wilson, who appears to be Danny's age and is also a jerk. The British girl is Pippa. The other girl is Clare Logan, who is supposedly an artist. She has secrets. And she and Danny meet and get along really well. Actually, they sort of met earlier when she was running on the beach. Danny is a great salesman, and has high moral values. His honesty sometimes costs him sales. Walker is a very rich man who might be able to buy the valuable land where others want to put housing and other development. Danny makes an easy sale--or does he? Walker also says he cares about keeping the land being auctioned the way it is. There are dwarf pines and blue herons. Walker also teaches Danny some lessons. Melissa is a rich girl who gets drunk at a party she throws. Another girl appeared in a commercial. The viewer might be fooled into thinking this is an actual commercial break, but then the studio and its equipment are shown, and the director. Danny's honesty gets the actress and Hugo's assistant upset. Clare, on the other hand, is quite intelligent and likable. Her secrets threaten to get in the way of her relationship with Danny. Dougie (shown as Sergeant in the credits) is a cop and a friend of the O'Briens. The day is coming for the auction and people have committed illegal and immoral actions. We have to hope these actions will be revealed and the right people can take over the land and save the community. And when the auction happens, plenty of regular people are in the audience hoping for the best.
