Gore Theatre 2
In the South of the South, in a border city, which is the defensive line of the sovereignty of the Spanish territory. In that place that grew up without anyone's permission, under the shadow of the Rock of Gibraltar; Flamenco dancer David Morales was born and started his professional career 41 years ago. This artist, who from his childhood got used to sharing a stage with great flamenco artists, who has traveled over more than 25 countries, chose the difficult path to develop his career. Instead of assuming the experimental tendencies of Flamenco, he clung to his origins, to the roots of the teachings of his teachers to develop a dance of traditional and pure forms. Instead of seeking to insert himself into a conventional circuit of tablaos and festivals, he embarked on the extreme adventure of forming his own company to develop his aesthetic pursuits and his creative vision. And although everything indicated that the most logical decision would have been to settle in Seville or Madrid, to project himself professionally from a more advantageous location, his love for his city - nestled between two seas and bathed by the Levante and Poniente winds - led him to stay in that place that he calls "his corner" ... La LÃnea de la Concepción, the Spanish city most punished on the screens of the sensationalist newscasts that pursue the news of the drug caches that reach Europe crossing the Strait. A city with one of the highest unemployment rates and the lowest life expectancies in the Iberian Peninsula ... it is not only David's home, it is more than the "setting" of his life. La LÃnea, the "lazy rose" (as the song says), who accompanies, loves, disappoints, abandons and protects is part of its history, it is one of its dance and life partners. 2020 must have been "his" year, but life, like music at times, is unpredictable.
