Her pikin mama
Dubbed in : English ( Original ) , URH
Ejiro was married off at sixteen. Now thirty-three, widowed and the mother of two daughters, she returns to her father's home hoping to reclaim some control over her life and secure a better future for her children. But freedom comes with few options. When Ejiro meets Osato, a lorry driver who wants a son but not the responsibilities of marriage, they enter an uneasy arrangement. He offers her security in exchange for a boy child and the education of her daughters. For Ejiro, the bargain represents a chance to give her children what she never had. For Osato, it is an arrangement that serves his own needs. As Ejiro becomes increasingly consumed by fulfilling her side of the bargain, the cost of the arrangement begins to reveal itself. Her eldest daughter, Ejaita, a sixteen-year-old dreaming of becoming a doctor, is beginning to push against the boundaries placed around her. Her younger daughter, Miriodere, is still too young to understand the forces reshaping her family, but not too young to feel their effects. Watching Ejiro is her aunt, Akpobome, a woman who once ran away from a marriage arranged for her, only to discover that escaping one form of control does not necessarily mean becoming free. She wants Ejiro to fight for herself, but her own life has taught her how complicated that fight can be. Caught between motherhood, survival, and the possibility of a different life, Ejiro must reckon with what she is willing to sacrifice for her daughters and what it means to choose a future for them when her own choices have never truly belonged to her.
