Het nieuwe Soestdijk
Jackson moves to Italy to be near his daughter, but a chance meeting with cafe owner Gabriella, and some meddling friends, may lead to a second chance at love. In the continuing saga of the runaway bride, she completes telling the Irish barkeep the story of why she is trying to hide from the three groomsmen, the reason she is planning on not getting married today. This final story of the three summer camp best friends focuses on Jackson, the successful social media manager, but who had shied away from love in having had a failed marriage. His story starts when his ex-wife Tricia asks a favor of him to care for their fourteen year old daughter Betty for a month. Rather than have Betty return to Philadelphia which would have meant taking her out of school, Jackson decided to take some time off from work to go to where Betty and Tricia were living, the small Italian town of Sperlonga. While loving her father, Betty felt like he was smothering her in not letting her grow up, and decided to use their landlord, restaurateur Gabriella, as a buffer, Gabriella and Jackson who had an initial antagonistic encounter which Betty could see soften at least into a friendship. Despite that friendship having a romantic spark, what happened between them was affected by Jackson's own doubts including his imminent return to Philadelphia, Jackson's ever changing relationship with Betty as she was growing up, and Gabriella's own broken family in she trying to merge her divorced parents' respective businesses, the restaurant and a vineyard. The bride concludes her story with how she is associated to the groomsmen and why she has fears about getting married to the groom, who may be the only person who can allay her fears if he and/or the groomsmen can find her. —Huggo
