Three talented students, Shakib Khan, Apu Biswas, and Toma Mirza, join a medical college for their internship. Their relationship grows strained due to several incidents, such as installing air conditioning in the hospital ward and bringing birthday cakes from Hotel Sonargaon to treat her classmates. In an attempt to humiliate Shakib, Toma goes to his house. There, she plans to use Shakib's rickshaw-puller father, Ali Raj, to shame him by presenting him in front of all their college mates. But Shakib's heart is already taken by Apu, a simple girl from a lower-middle-class family. Determined not to give up, Toma becomes desperate to separate Shakib and Apu.
