Kohlhiesel's Daughters
Landlord Kohlhiesel has two daughters that couldn't be more different: Liesel, the older one, is a clumsy hoyden; Gretel (Gritli), the younger, is pretty and charming. Gretel wants to marry, but her father won't allow it until Liesel has a husband. Can Xaver be persuaded to simulate some interest in her? —Tom Zoerner <Tom.Zoerner@informatik.uni-erlangen.de> Father Kohlhiesel (Heinrich Gretler) runs an inn in Hinterflüh in the Bernese Oberland. One of his daughters, the pretty, cheerful Liesel (Liselotte Pulver), returns home with top marks from the Munich Hotel Management School and is picked up at the train station by Toni (Helmut Schmid) with a bouquet of flowers and singing villagers. Toni wants to marry Liesel right away, but a promise made by Father Kohlhiesel stands in his way. On his deathbed, he swore to his wife that before Liesel could walk down the aisle, her ugly and grumpy twin sister Susi (Liselotte Pulver) had to be married off. A marriage advertisement is supposed to remedy the situation. But all but two of the suitors leave as soon as they see Susi. And Susi bluntly shows the dapper dowry hunter Rolf (Peter Vogel) what he can do with himself. Then Günter (Dietmar Schönherr), who is in love with Liesel and has followed her from Munich, shows up. He persuades the impatient Toni to enter into a marriage scam, which has unexpected consequences. —SRF
