The young Katie is present in the room, and she pleads and begs to be released, but The Magician and the others assembled simply chant an incantation and do not stop.
A torrent of dark bile passes from the old man's open mouth into Katie's, and Katie goes silent. The tape then shows The Magician's family wrapping Katie in the inscribed bindings before sealing her inside the sarcophagus. Dalia also relays what Layla described in her written confession: it was Layla's brothers, Jabari Khalil (Arkin Cureklibatir) and Tariq Khalil (Safi Mulki), who were transporting the sarcophagus when the plane went down, because the valley containing the family's property was about to be flooded.
The bindings and the sealed coffin had been the two mechanisms keeping the Nasmaranian from manifesting its full strength, and both have been progressively compromised since Katie was found. Shortly after the tape ends, Katie directs Sebastian through the hold she still has over him and compels him to come to her room and strip away the last of the bindings from her skin. The lights throughout the house begin to flicker. A sandstorm rises outside and batters the walls.
Larissa rushes to Katie's room. Dalia is attacked by Carmen's reanimated body. A scorpion then works its way down Dalia's throat, puncturing it from the inside.
Dalia manages to extract the creature, though the wound leaves a hole in her neck. Charlie forces his way into Katie's room and wraps both arms tightly around Katie in a bear hug, holding her as she writhes and struggles. He looks across at Dalia as she enters the room, and the expression on his face makes his intent clear.
Dalia understands. Pressing several fingers over the puncture in her throat to force sound through, she speaks the incantation from the tape. A torrent of black substance erupts from Katie's mouth and floods into Charlie's.
The moment it is complete, the storm outside ceases, every disturbance in the house stops, and Katie speaks to her mother. The family seals Charlie inside the sarcophagus, locked and secured. From within, Charlie taps out the phrase "I love you" in Morse code. Katie, finally returning to herself, begins to spend time with her siblings.
Larissa reaches out to Dalia, still recovering from her throat injury, and tells her they need to talk about Charlie. The Magician has survived the shooting in Aswan and is confined to a hospital bed. A nurse enters her room and drives a syringe into her arm, paralyzing her. The nurse is Larissa.
The Magician's eyes fix on Larissa's face with recognition, and Larissa tells her that she knows the woman recognizes her and knows whose mother she is. Dalia then enters the room, wheeling in Charlie, who remains in the grip of the Nasmaranian. Dalia closes the door behind her and begins to chant the transference incantation, intending to move the demon permanently from Charlie's body into The Magician..
