Travis is an armored car guard with a security company, and he goes to a bank for a pickup. There he meets a girl named Zoe (after mistaking her as a threat and pulling a gun on her), who asks Travis out on a date. Zoe ends up taking Travis to her hotel room and has sex with him. Russell Pierce (Eddie Murphy), a veteran armored car driver nearing retirement, and Travis Stolly (Pete Davidson), a rookie who aspires to be a police officer, team up for the first time on duty. Russell is married to Natalie and it was their 25th marriage anniversary. Russell aims to save up money in six months so he can quit his job with the 4 am wake up for early morning rides. He aims to open a B&B with Natalie. Russell makes plans with Natalie to have dinner at a particular restaurant. Clark is the discharge supervisor and assigns Russell a long route, even though Russell had specifically asked for a shorter shift on account of his anniversary. Russell and Travis start their route and in between Clark calls Travis on the radio to inform him that he is fired for pulling a gun on a customer at the bank the previous day. Travis gets really emotional and starts crying and drives erratically. While on duty, criminal mastermind Zoe (Keke Palmer) ambushes them with Banner (Jack Kesy) and Miguel (Ismael Cruz Cordova). Zoe had promised Banner and Zoe a take of $60 million. Russell is not able to call for backup as they are driving through a dead zone. During the intense chase and being outmatched, Russell attempts to surrender the money from the truck for their life but discovers that the supposed money they are transporting is full of contraband. Their cargo even contained a frozen Capuchin monkey. Banner and Miguel's car flips over during a car chase after Russell throws the money contained in the dye packs at their cars. Russel even throws a bag of coins at Zoe's car which also falls into a ditch, but Zoe managed to secure herself to the under cage of the armored car. Zoe ultimately manages to hijack the armored car. Travis recognizes Zoe and remembers their one-night stand the evening before. She had gotten him drunk on their date, and he told her everything about his work and the schedule of his route. Assuming that Banner and Miguel are dead after both of their vehicles have violently crashed, Zoe asks Russell and Travis to cooperate with her and reveals that her goal wasn't to steal the money or the contraband from the truck but to rob the armored vehicle itself as she needs an armored truck in a plan to take $60 million cash pickup from a casino. Banner and Miguel survived the car accident. Unhappy that Zoe had abandoned them, they attempt to catch up with the armored truck by stealing another car to track them down. Travis, feeling used by Zoe, still has feelings for her. Natalie calls and Zoe makes Russell pick the phone and inform her that his boss has added another pickup to his route and that he would have to reschedule their dinner. Zoe then puts a hired gun on Natalie and tells Russell that she will be shot if Zoe does not call every half hour. Zoe takes the truck to Chop Shop (Marshawn Lynch) to get it fixed and to remove any signs of a skirmish. Zoe reveals to Russell and Travis that her plans is to steal $60 million from a Casino in Atlantic city. She says that every Monday an armored truck picks up the weekend earnings, and they will impersonate that truck with an insider at the casino, who will clear the truck as the one who was supposed to pick the money. Russell believes that Travis is working for Zoe, but Zoe says that she is the girl who seduced him over the weekend. And that is how she got the route from Travis. Zoe confesses to Travis and Russell that several years ago, a fire broke out in the casino where her father worked as security guard. During the fire, the lock-down sequence was initiated to protect the money from catching fire but did not have manual overdrive for the personnel to get out to safety. Zoe's father sacrificed himself to hold the metal door for his co-workers to escape. Despite his heroism, the casino did not extend any compensation to her family for the faulty security system. The adult Zoe now plans to take the casino's money to get revenge. In front of the casino, Russell's wife Natalie (Eva Longoria) finds him through mobile phone positioning, where she is taken hostage by Zoe and tied up in the car with Travis. As they approach the vault, they encounter a photo-shoot of WWE Star Wrestler and Zoe lies to him that his rival is trashing him on the internet, causing him to leave the vault. Russell and Zoe successfully steal $60 million in cash from the casino. On their way out, the casino manager recognizes her and apologizes for her father's situation and blames the higher-ups for not compensating her father when they had a chance. The duo is then ambushed by Banner and Miguel. Banner takes Natalie hostage and chases Zoe, who drives away with the money. Russell and Travis accidentally runs over Miguel with an armored car. A large number of police officers chase them for the casino's money. Clark (Andrew Dice Clay) calls the duo to complain about the late delivery only to be shocked that they are being chased by the cops on live TV and Travis gives him the middle finger. At a small airstrip, the armored car catches fire and explodes after a chase, but Zoe rescues Russell and Travis as they jump out from the back. Banner opens fire at Russell, Travis and Zoe but is knocked unconscious by Natalie. Russell reunites with Natalie, and Zoe says goodbye to Travis before leaving in a small plane she had prepared in advance. Afterwards, Russell and Travis are found not liable for the events by the police as they believe the duo are forced to do the robbery at gunpoint. Six months later, Travis becomes deputy sheriff and contacts Zoe who is now living in luxury in Bali. Meanwhile Russell, now retired, is running a bed and breakfast with Natalie. He receives a box of money from Travis and Zoe. The museum curator calls the armored car company to complain about the damaged Capuchin monkey, but Clark angrily insists that the Capuchin monkey must have already been damaged before the transport.
