Lo-Fi Story
Tim Cranston, author and local historian, takes us on a "walking tour" of Wickford, focusing on historic houses, at one time the homes of people who made their living from the sea. Tim Cranston narrates a tour through the village discussing various homes where once lived some of the state's more colorful mariners. Although it is set in Wickford and specific to that village, the concepts discussed are relevant to many seaside villages of the period. Also touched upon is the Triangle Trade, the Revolutionary War, Rhode Island's Colonial past, privateering and piracy, the Victorian/Gilded Age in Newport, transportation and commerce in 18th and 19th century New England, and stories of the early fishing industry in the region. —Brassard, Edward
