Adopted out of Romania as a baby, Jessi returns thirty years later to meet the family she came from, and learns she was sold. Jessi Froud was two months old when a Canadian man she had never met carried her out of Romania wrapped in a sweater. She was not an orphan. She had a mother, a father, a brother and an address in Calarasi. Money changed hands, and small gifts went to the officials who signed. She grew up in Canada and never lost the sense of a piece missing. In her thirties she goes back. For two years she builds something with the family she came from. Then her father tells her the thing they all agreed never to say.
