Levon Cade (Jason Statham), an ex-Royal Marine Commando, works as a construction foreman in Chicago and has a close friendship with the Garcia family - Joe (Michael Pena), his wife, Carla (Noemi Gonzalez), and their daughter, Jenny (Arianna Rivas) that runs the company. Levon is well respected by all the workers on site as Levon is a hard and fair worker himself. Levon also protects his workers from the mafia loan collection agents who rough up anyone who is even a few days late on their payments. However, Levon struggles to gain custody of his daughter, Merry (Isla Gie), after his wife committed suicide. Merry is now living with Levon's father-in-law, Jordan (Richard Heap), who refused to let him see Merry when he was deployed. Jordan is very wealthy and caters to Merry's every need and pampers her. Jordan considers Levon to be an unsafe parent and a killer. Matt Torrance (Jonathan Nyati) is Levon's custody lawyer, and he says that Jordan is baiting Levon into violence, so he can completely remove his visitation rights. Matt says that Jordan is pushing for supervised visits and reduction in hours from 2 hours a week to 1 hour every 2 weeks. Jordan blames Levon for his daughter's death. One night, while Jenny is out with friends, she is kidnapped by Russian traffickers Viper (Emmett J. Scanlan) and Artemis (Eve Mauro). Joe and Carla report their missing daughter to the police, but they are unable to find any leads to Jenny. Desperate, the parents offer Levon a sum of money ($50,000 plus $20,000 for expenses) to help them find their daughter, but Levon refuses, citing that he wants to move on from his military life. Still unsure, Levon consults his old friend, Gunny (David Harbour), a blind ex-Marine Raider, who suggests doing what is right for the Garcia family, so Levon agrees to bring her back home. He tracks Jenny's last location in the bar where she was hanging out with her friends. He follows the bartender, Johnny (David Witts), back to his home and interrogates him before two more thugs arrive. Levon kills all three of them and learns that the bartender and the thugs are working for the Bratva, a Russian mafia crime syndicate with Symon Kharchenko as the enforcer. Symon's high-ranking captain, Wolo Kolisnyk (Jason Flemyng), discovers the carnage and has a clean-up crew remove the evidence. Wolo can already see that Johnny and the 2 thugs did not kill each other as it pretended to be. Instead, Wolo finds that the $90,000 payment he gave to the thugs to give to Johnny is missing. Levon follows him to his private estate where he interrogates Wolo before drowning him in his private pool. Levon tells Wolo that he is not a thief and returns the money he took from Johnny's apartment. He only asks for Jenny. Wolo takes a name Dimi but refuses to elaborate any further and hence Levon is forced to kill him. Symon (Andrej Kaminsky) learns of Levon's activities and sends his sons Danya (Greg Kolpakchi) and Vanko (Piotr Witkowski) to kill Levon. Using his contacts from the DEA, Levon infiltrates the organization by pretending to be a dealer to get close to Wolo's son Dimi (Maximilian Osinski), who runs the trafficking part of the organization with a biker gang and their leader, Dutch (Chidi Ajufo). Levon meets Dutch at the bar where he runs his operation and pretends to be a drugs buyer. Dutch does not buy the premise and gets his entourage to attack Levon, but Levon defeats them easily. This prompts Dutch to speak nicely to Levon. Levon says that he wants Blue Glass at 4 pounds per month, while he carries the distribution forward. They strike a deal at $5000 per half pound. Artemis works for Dutch and takes payment from Levon. Meanwhile, Artemis and Viper deliver Jenny to a client, who pays a large amount of money for the first go at Jenny. Jenny survives by biting the cheek of the client and making it all blood soaked. The client throws Jenny out, along with Viper and Artemis. Dimi has to pay the client $200,000 and takes it out on Viper and Artemis for not delivering on their promise to get the girls ready. Dimi asks Viper to kill Jenny. Dutch invites Levon to a high-powered meeting with the bulk suppliers of Blue Glass. Turns out Dimi is at the meeting. Levon and Dimi strike a deal for a regular supply of 4 pounds of Blue Glass every month. Levon then tracks Johnny and Dimi to a different bar but is tracked by Artemis using advanced spy equipment. Danya and Vanko chase Levon and manage to capture him (aided by two corrupt cops), but Levon kills them and crashes the van into a river. Symon learns of his sons' deaths and summons the other high-ranking mafia members to exact revenge on the person who killed his sons. Symon finds Dimi and informs him that his father Wolo is dead, killed by the same man. Symon shows Dimi a photo and Dimi identifies him as Levon. Symon gets all of Levon's personal information, including his father-in-law and Merry. Symon sends his men to tie up Jordan and set his home ablaze to kill him, but Levon manages to save him. Levon takes Merry to stay with Gunny while Levon heads out to fight the mafia. Viper and Artemis transport Jenny to a secluded area to kill her on Symon's orders, but she manages to escape on the way. She is found by 2 cops in the middle of a forested area, but they are the same corrupt cops on the mafia payroll, and they bring Jenny back to Viper and Artemis. Viper gets a call from the client, who still wants Jenny and makes a deal with Viper for $1 million, to deliver her to his compound. Levon brutally interrogates Dimi and gets him to lead him to the compound where Jenny is being kept before he executes Dimi. Dimi admits that Viper goes to clubs, takes pictures of pretty girls, which Dimi shows to his clients, and they are the ones who make the choice. Dimi calls it his specialty service. He gears up and attacks the compound, killing every criminal in his path, including Dutch and his biker gang. Levon finds Jenny, and kills the client and Viper, while Jenny strangles Artemis. Symon arrives to see Levon and Jenny riding away and calls for backup. However, his boss orders him to leave Levon alone because of how dangerous Levon is and can bring down the mafia, and that nobody in the organization is going to help him in his crusade for vengeance if he goes rogue. Symon declares he will seek revenge on Levon. Levon reunites Jenny with her family and returns home to have dinner with Merry and Gunny.
