The birth of an emerging empire, Shaw Industries, was devastated by the impact of the 2008 financial crisis, which finally led to the rise of Shaw's ultimate competitor, Engineered Floors. THIS IS DALTON. This 53-minute feature documentary includes interviews from influential leaders involved with the history of Dalton, footage of the small town, and photographs dating back to the beginning of the carpet industry. This film, which covers over 200 years of the history of what used to be one of the most thriving cities in the country which was most commonly known as the carpet capital of the world, tells the story of the people of Dalton and no matter how hard they get knocked down, they get back up. The documentary: Dalton: A Story of Survival, was created by S.T.E.P. Studio Inc. Incorporated. A Non-Profit organization created by students to give high school and college students the opportunity to work in film. This award-winning film studio is the first independently run student film company in the country. "Student Team Entertainment Production" (STEP) is designed to provide entertainment to the world, along with opportunities for young filmmakers. This studio, composed of high school and college students, is designed to give students with a passion for film the opportunity to further their film careers.
