In our society, there are not many sensitive souls who really understand the tragedy and pain of a deprived woman. The heroine and protagonist of the piece Xuntora soon realises that this at a very early age. As the story proceeds , Xuntora matures into a woman. Keeping up with the customs of the society, Xuntora's parents fix her marriage with a proud, wealthy man who has a very boisterous attitude. After marriage, she realises that as a woman she has no liberty at all. She is just a lifeless soul, mentally tormented as she has no right to express her opinion. Her husband is a tea planter who is killed by one of the tea garden labourers for destroying the virginity of a girl of the tea community. Xuntara is pregnant with his child when she is widowed. She returns to her father's house with her son, Xunmoni. Again, Xuntora finds herself in the same situation which her grandmother Ramen Aita, whom she had met in her childhood, had found herself in. Her desire to curve out a strong identity of her own, makes her survive against all odds in her life. How did Xuntora meet the crises in her life? What happened to her after that?
