In the quiet town of Val De Pantano, a large-scale eradication of frogs is being prepared after they have overpopulated the nearby marshes. Shortly after the operation begins, however, strange and unsettling murders start occurring near the extermination sites. Panic grips the residents, and even the mayor begins to lose his nerve as public pressure grows. An investigative team arrives on the scene: Dr. Zaneta Pitlíková, a pathologist with a penchant for unusual cases, and her assistant, Dr. Henrik Cont, an analyst with a suspiciously encyclopedic memory.
