Bavaria in 1886. The rascal Ludwig has to change again the high school. His uncle and company godfather, the member of parliament Josef Filser, is supposed to look after him this time and travels to Munich with his nephew. The incorrigible rascal Ludwig Thoma has done it again: his disrespectful pranks have got him expelled from grammar school. As Ludwig's single mother no longer knows what to do, she sends her son to Munich with his uncle and godfather, Josef Filser, a member of the state parliament. At a grammar school in the Bavarian capital, the boy is finally to learn the necessary discipline. When they arrive in Munich, Filser and Ludwig move into lodgings with head constable Damböck and his family. Shortly afterwards, Ludwig has to prove his rascal talent when poor Josef is accused of being the father of an illegitimate child. With cunning and wit, the boy manages to refute the false accusations, earning the respect and gratitude of his uncle. While Filser carries out his duties in parliament, Ludwig tries to settle in at his new school - which is not too difficult for the self-confident boy. However, when he receives the news one day that the new district administrator Stiebner in his home town wants to evict his poor mother from her house, he immediately sets off on his journey home. —BR
