An bitter-sweet arabesque melodrama with an existentialist tone, with a touch of black humor. The film is about 8 year old boy named Pirandello, who lives with his father, railway worker, in a small cottage next to the railroad. The boy observes life and people who are passing by every day and who have been part of his father's life in one way or another. Through this exploration he finds his own past, his identity and his future path. There is a fatal woman involved as well.
