Cynthia is a young Chinese woman in love with Itami, a Japanese man about to be sent home for military service. Manchuria, 1928. During the Japanese occupation of Shanghai, Itami, a young Japanese man, falls deeply in love with Cynthia, a beautiful Chinese woman. However, an act of brutal violence committed by Japanese right-wing extremists shatters Cynthia's world, abruptly ending their passionate relationship.
