Road to the Lemon Grove
Deceased Sicilian father (Charly Chiarelli) tries to negotiate his way into heaven. However, the only way in is to first go back and make amends with his alienated son, Calogero (also played by Chiarelli). A linguistics professor, Calogero is a believer that language is the sole conduit to maintain ones cultural identity. However, with the death of his father, and the escalating loss of language and dialects, his own identity comes into question. Haunted by this struggle, and the unruly spirit of his father, he boards a plane for the first time ever, destined to spread his father's ashes in a sacred Sicilian lemon grove that has been at the center of a bitter land dispute. Through a ruckus ride into the soul of Sicily, Calogero finds himself on a heartwarming journey of a lifetime. Determined to foil Calogero's mission, his uncle Vincenzo (Burt Young), self-appointed Godfather of the family, sends his son (Nick Mancuso) after him, demanding he do everything in his power to prevent Calogero from completing his task. Crossing paths with the woman of his dreams, the famous actress Maria Miosogno (Rossella Brescia), Calogero is suddenly confronted by a meat clever, as Maria fends off what she assumes is a stalker. Somehow, Calogero must disarm Maria, reunite two feuding families, find love in places never imagined, and finally, let his father rest in peace, as he discovers the heart of who he really is. Starring Burt Young (Rocky), Rossella Brescia (Italian TV star & Prima Ballerina), Nick Mancuso (Ticket to Heaven), Charly Chiarelli (Sicilian Spalding Gray), Tomaso Sanelli (Titans), and Loreena McKennitt (Multi-Platinum Recording Artist).
