A young Mason faces racism and unfair treatment but defies the odds to become a competitive swimmer. Coach Pat, a stern man showed him the world was much bigger. The world would soon meet the first Black Olympic swimmer. Despite the constant fear, taunting and ridicule, Mason refuses to let his circumstances define him. With the support of his caring parents, his mother Wendy and his stoic father Bill they seek out a determined swim coach Pat Miller. He warns them of the adversities and the mental challenges he will encounter as well as the daily physical commitment if he wants to become a competitive force. With all of the bullying and verbal abuse brewing in his head he commits and decides to join the school's swim team and learn the sport that has eluded him but has feared our brothers for so long. Years of racism, broken friendships, and living in his truth- the noise didn't break him. The world would soon know his name and his story. Mason makes history while also inspiring a generation of young black athletes to chase their dreams, stepping out of the stereotypical molds and never giving up on your dreams. —Marq Sheppard
