Tad: The Lost Explorer
Siddharth (Farhan Akhtar) and Trisha (Vidya Balan) are happily married couple. They spice up their sex life by going out and pretending to meet at a club and then sleeping together in a hotel room. On one such occasion a hotel manager Madhok (Nitesh Pandey) admonishes Sid for bringing a prostitute into the hotel for a sex romp. Sid has to clarify that the woman he is with is his wife, and not a prostitute. Madhok narrates his own woes that he and his wife are constantly bickering over the normal issues between husband and wife. Sid says that his secret to happiness is that he apologizes regardless of who is at fault. Sid comes from a broken home and was adamant that he will not repeat the same mistakes that his parents made. So, Sid came up with a strategy to make his marriage fool proof. But he did not know the side effects of marriage. Trisha gets pregnant, and things started getting complicated. Sid is not ready for a baby as he is just a struggling music composer. Trisha didn't even like kids and Sid loves them and yet now their roles are reversed. Sid tries to counsel Trisha that she is due for a promotion at work, and he is yet to record his first album. Sid says that they still have stuff to do in their careers and they have their whole lives to have a kid. Trisha agrees to an abortion and heads to the hospital. At the hospital Sid meets a couple where the husband says that they delayed the kids for the sake of their careers. Then they had to go for reproductive assistance procedure, which frequently leads to multiple pregnancies, and in their case, they had 4 births in one go. The husband says that he regrets delaying the kids. Sid barges into the surgery room and convinces Trisha that he is ready to have a kid. On his friends' advice Sid starts reading pregnancy books and following Trisha's daily routine by putting a balloon in his shirt. The friends told Sid that when they get a new appliance in the house, they read its manual, and the pregnancy as well as the baby are like new appliances in the house and Sid needs to learn about them. Sid starts pushing Trisha to eat healthy, exercise and to watch programs on TV which are appropriate for kids. Trisha finds this very suffocating. Finally, Trisha gives birth to a baby girl and starts devoting all her time to the baby. Sid tries to be a helpful father, but he simply does not have the intuition that Trisha has about what the baby needs. Sid cannot figure out if the baby is hungry, hot or cold, but Trisha seems to know everything instinctively. Due to the baby's arrival, Sid and Trisha's sex life takes a hit as well. Eventually Sid is kicked out of the room and made to sleep in his studio as he snores, and Trisha is worried that he will wake up the baby. Sid tries taking Trisha out on a date, but Trisha worries constantly about the baby and is not able to enjoy their usual role playing. Even after asking Trisha to be present in the moment, she is not able to carry a conversation or have any meaningful discussion. Trisha's mother (Rati Agnihotri) feels that Sid is a careless person and cannot take this responsibility, at which Sid makes a desperate attempt to behave like a family man but fails, as on one occasion he takes baby for a walk but forgets her in the market. Frustrated, Sid asks for help from Trisha's brother-in-law Ranveer (Ram Kapoor), who is a typical family man. Ranveer, reveals to him that when he gets frustrated, he makes a business trip excuse and stays in a hotel room to enjoy his life as a bachelor. Sid takes on his idea and starts staying in hotel, with excuse of working overnight in studio. But soon he has to cut down his idea, due to an added expense at home as Trisha decides to hire an expensive governess (Ila Arun). Sid then, without telling Trisha, goes for a cheaper solution by shifting to shared PG along with Manav (Vir Das), a dope-head bachelor. Sid takes Manav's advice and starts living a carefree life. Then enters Shekhar (Purab Kohli), a young neighbor, who saves the baby when she gets locked in and thus frequently comes to meet Trisha, which makes Sid jealous. Sid realizes value of his family when Manav is hospitalized and none of his family or friends are around to take care of him. Filled with guilt, Sid confesses the PG secret to Trisha, who in anger throws him out. Sid seeks Ranveer for advice, only to discover that Ranveer is having an affair. Ranveer confronts Sid by telling him that he has also cheated Trisha by devoting time apart from his family. Sid realizes his mistake. After repeated apologies by Sid, Trisha reveals that she also got involved with Shekhar and is now pregnant. Sid rushes out of the house along with the baby and later he realizes that he should forgive Trisha for their child and also because all these happened because of him and thus forgives Trisha. To which Trisha surprises him by saying that she is not pregnant with Shekhar's child but with their child. Sid and Trisha reunite and start living a happy family life along with their baby. Towards the end Sid is in the park playing with their two children and giving "Fatherhood notes" to other fathers in the park. He calls Trisha to give her the good news that a music company has finally asked him to compose a song for their album. Trisha is now a working woman and tells Sid that she will be late because of a deal which needs to be completed. Sid says that he is fine to look after the kids till she returns. As the camera pans out showing Trisha relaxing in a hotel room with a glass of wine.
