In 1995, Gulmohar is an innocent girl, who lives in a remote area of Bihar, where she loves a Muslim boy who was a teacher in a Madrasa (School). One day Gulmohar comes to know that she has had pregnant. When she told this news to her boyfriend, then his orthodox thought arise and he refuses about any kind of relation with Gulmohar in front of the whole village, and with the help of some extremists, he also tries to get Gulmohar killed in the name of religion, but somehow Gulmohar escapes herself, run away other city far from the village. She delivers a boy and starts working in the cinema hall as a sweeper. It was the era of 90's. Hindi cinema was on its peak. Gulmohar sees a movie for the first time, she gets mesmerized by the magic of cinema. The positive impact of cinema starts falling on her. Gulmohar imbibes a lot of good qualities from the ideal characters of movies, stories and she starts living life like them. Gulmohar watches so many sensible movies and learnt a lot of its. By impressing a character of the cinema, she starts taking an education. Sheetal, who is daughter of the cinema hall's owner, helps Gulmohar to get an education. In the meantime, Sheetal's husband dies in a car accident and his relatives throw Sheetal out of the house, calling her Kulakshni a bad women. He gets Gulmohar beaten up badly by the policemen. Gulmohar is admitted to the hospital. The doctor gets very sad to see the condition of Gulmohar. He supports Gulmohar after seeing her courage and gets some of his bureaucrat friends to support Gulmohar at the internal level. Gulmohar starts agitation on a big level. She gets public support. Apart from this, bureaucrats support her. The movement goes on the peak. Sheetal's father-in-law has to resign. The court gives a verdict in favor of Sheetal. After this movement, Gulmohar becomes a respectable woman. In the climax, Gulmohar comes to her village and take revenge from her boyfriend Yaqut and orthodox community.
