In Hollywood, California, to keep the poverty row Schecter Studios in business, young producer Harry Schecter (Stephen Nathan) makes low-budget softcore exploitation films with such titles as 'Cheerleaders in Chains', 'Teenage Sex Mutants,' 'Stewardesses in Cages', and 'Kiss My Boots'. Harry's retired father thinks he is still making legit pictures. A group of greedy investors named Eddie (Art Marino), Benny (Hy Pyke), Jimmy (Greg Finlay), and Frankie (Herb Graham) want to buy out the studio and turn it into an indoor shopping center because Harry's films haven't been making any money. Inspired by his secretary Rosie (Cindy Williams), Harry decides to make the first X-rated, pornographic musical to save the studio. The investors agree to give him the money needed to make the film, but if Harry cannot complete the picture in two weeks, the studio is theirs. To make sure Harry doesn't succeed, they insist that the director be 23-year-old novice filmmaker John Smithee (Bruce Kimmel)... who happens to be Benny's stupid, virginal nephew. Harry and Rosie hold auditions, looking for actors who can "screw and carry a tune". Mary La Rue (Alexandra Morgan), a prima donna with a crush on Harry, agrees to play the female lead. George Brenner (Alan Abelew), who tries to pick up every female on the set and is turned down by everyone, wins the lead male role. Also hired is Cuban dynamo Juanita Juanita (Diana Canova) who is accompanied by her chain-smoking boyfriend Arvin (Frank Doubleday) who makes sure no one touches her. Susie (Leslie Ackerman), a young and up-and-coming virgin from Indiana, agrees to play the ingenue as long as she keeps her clothes on. Porno actress Joy Full (Susan Stewart), wins her part in the film by lying on the floor and simulating an orgasm. Dick Davis (Rene Hall), a musician and pervert, is hired to write the musical numbers. Filming begins, and it becomes obvious that John can't direct the nude actors without giggling and making nonsensical remarks. Harry sends him out for doughnuts each day and secretly directs the film himself. John doesn't realize that Harry directed the scenes each day in the projection room, for John thinks that he directed them himself while in an artistic fervor. Harry sends John to Wanda's brothel where he loses his virginity to a half-dozen prostitutes. Mary La Rue causes one porno actor to quit when he cannot "get it up", which forces Harry to hire a "stunt cock" for the sex scene. She argues with John when he knocks over all of the dildo-garbed male dancers with a crane during her 'Dancing Dildoes' production number. She constantly exchanges insults with Rosie, who is jealous of the attention Harry pays her. When Mary kicks George out of bed during a scene, Harry fires her. George gets a black eye from a transvestite mugger he tries to pick up, which means that are no more dancing leads in the finale. Harry convinces Rosie to be the girl dancer and John convinces Harry to be the male dancer. 'Come....Come Now' billed as the 'first nudie musical' premieres. After the final musical number 'Let 'em Eat Cake (And I'll Eat You) where bottomless female dancers perform along the tuxedo-clad male dancers, in which Rosie and Harry dance and sing There is great applause. The movie will be a smash at the box office. Afterwords, John is surrounded by admiring critics, George by girls who want dates, Susie by talent agents, and Juanita by men whom Alvin scares away. Harry tells Rosie that he is going to make a new movie about a hot-shot producer who marries his secretary. The film ends with Harry and Rosie walking down the street kissing.
