The Freedom of Silence
In July 2007, the recognised contrabass player, Jun Kawasaki, initiated an unconventional reading performance called 'imakarakokode (from now on)' and which merged the format of workshop and concert. This performance uniquely combined instrumental sounds and human voices. Two workshop members, Ohki and Nakagawa, together with Kawasaki himself 'read' and 'edit' the 'texts to be studied' selected in advance to test them out with various musical sounds. This film documents the project evolving and how it is eventually performed in public. In this film, people of different professions and ages get together and generate various kinds of 'dialogue'. Sometimes they even communicate with absent persons through texts or via recorded media. It is the inter-active, multi-dimensional dialogue, what we call 'multilogue', which constructs an exciting process of discovering 'others'.
