In 1969, Sammy Nicoletti, a young film maker, enters his editing room late at night. Someone has been in the room searching through his racks of film cans. The intruder hides until Sammy is busy, then sneaks up behind him and bashes his skull in. Ten years later, Sammy's brother Vito is released from prison where he had been incarcerated for gang-related activities. While he served his ten years, his brother was killed, and his mother has died. He visits the graves of his brother and mother, vowing to avenge his death. When he talks to the groundskeeper, he learns that an attractive young woman stops by the grave site every Thursday and leaves flowers. He stops by to see the priest at the local church and receives a box of things that were his brothers. The priest warns him that finding the killer and disposing of him will result in eternal damnation. He stakes out the grave and catches her subsequent visit. She pushes him away, but he is able to follow her to her apartment by tracing her license plate number. This time, he tells her who he is and why he wants to talk to her. She reluctantly agrees to help him. She acted in Sammy's porno film and liked him. Her name is Vivian. In flashbacks, some history to the case is revealed. A power couple, Andrew and Elaine Moore, have befriended Sammy. Andrew has even bankrolled some of his productions, one of them a porno film. Andrew and Elaine were breaking up over his dalliance with a new girlfriend, Carol. Elaine finds out about Carol when they go on a boat cruise. A divorce is arranged such that Elaine gets a generous settlement that allows her to start her own real estate agency. Andrew and Carol marry. Vito visits with Elaine trying to gain insights on events leading up to Sammy's death. Sammy's last note to Vito had mentioned he was going up to see Elaine and Andrew. In flashbacks, some history to the case is revealed. A power couple, Andrew and Elaine Moore, have befriended Sammy. Andrew has even bankrolled some of his productions, one of them a porno film. Andrew and Elaine were breaking up over his dalliance with a new girlfriend, Carol. Elaine finds out about Carol when they go on a boat cruise. Vito takes in a roll of film that was in the box from Sammy. It needs some repair work. Carol comes to visit Vito and uses her charms to visit with her. In the process, she slips him a mickey so that his room can be searched. In another flashback, we see that Carol had seduced Sammy in order to learn about where the film might be hidden. Someone breaks into Vito's hotel room and tries to kill him by knocking him out, tying him up, and turning on the gas. Vivian stops by to see him and barely saves him in time. Andrew knows that the film was in the box that Vito got from the priest. Be sends Carol to get it at gun point. She takes him to a beach overlook to kill him, but he wrestles her for the gun. She is shot in the struggle. Vito gets his gun and heads to Elaine's agency. He points the gun at her and demands to know who killed Sammy. Someone, who is outside the room, shoots her before she can reveal the killer. Vito gives chase and is shot in the abdomen during the pursuit. Even though seriously wounded, he and Vivian are able to view the repaired film. He finds that it is the porno flick with the male lead in the film being Andrew. As Andrew has political ambitions, he could not allow the film to be completed. He killed Sammy trying to find it but failed ten years ago. Vito has Vivian drive him to Andrew's house. He shoots the assistant who answers the door, then proceeds to gun down Andrew who is soaking in the tub. He dies as Vivian is driving him for some medical attention.
