The film takes place in 1901 in southern Africa. The Boers, immigrants from Europe, defend the independence of the free republics they have created. Volunteers from many countries of the world fight in their ranks. One of them, a Russian naval officer named Pavel, arrives in Durban and receives a secret assignment from his contact Anna - to buy weapons, he must find treasures hidden by Portuguese pirates. But their conversation is accidentally overheard by the leader of a bandit gang, with whom Pavel had a quarrel before. So, two companies - Anna with Pavel and the bandits - set off in search of treasures.
