Un Precio Que Tenemos Que Pagar
Dubbed in : Spanish ( Original ) , English , VIE , JAP
Documentary about the photojournalist and war correspondent of the newspaper "La Nación" Ignacio Ezcurra, who disappeared in May 1968 in Saigon, Vietnam. It all begins with a blurred photograph published by La Nación in 1968. The image shows the lifeless body of Argentine journalist Ignacio Ezcurra on a street in Saigon. For more than fifty years, this photograph was considered the principal evidence of what happened to him during the Vietnam War. More than half a century later, an investigation across Argentina, Vietnam, and the United States revisits the case, seeking to reconstruct Ezcurra's final days and reexamine the circumstances of his death. What starts from a single image gradually expands into a complex inquiry that connects forgotten archives, unpublished documents, and firsthand testimonies that had remained silent for decades. Along the way, the investigation leads to an unexpected discovery: the Japanese photographer who took the original image. Newly uncovered photographs and previously unseen material make it possible to identify the exact location where Ezcurra was killed and reassess the events surrounding his death with greater precision. As new pieces fall into place, Ezcurra's death ceases to be a closed episode of the Vietnam War and instead reveals the mechanisms that shaped the accepted version of his fate for decades. The search for answers ultimately opens a broader reflection on how history is constructed, who controls its narratives, and what is lost in the process of telling it.
