Vijay has to travel to Chennai to withdraw money from a chit fund to collect funds for his sister`s wedding only to find that he has been cheated. He meets Genelia in Chennai who plays a journalist. Abhimanyu Singh is a very influential underworld don who had also harrased Genelia. She creates a fictional character Velayutham, who is a super-hero of sorts. Genelia however manages to convince Vijay to be the `real` Velayutham to fight corruption in the city.
