Wholly Moses!
An all-star comedy cast hams it up in this hilarious Biblical spoof. A parody of the tale of Moses, featuring his apparent half-brother, brother-in-law, and accidental duplicate Herschel. The boys are born around the same time, their lives follow parallel paths, and they accidentally have near-meetings several times. When God orders Moses to return to Egypt and to rescue his people, Herschel is standing nearby and thinks that God is talking to him. Herschel tries to obey God's command, but he struggles in vain while Moses is always one step ahead of him. Eventually Herschel realizes that his entire life story is just a footnote in history, and he complains to God that he wants to be remembered. Several thousand years later, God arranges for the Book of Herschel to be discovered by two amateur archaeologists. After the duo read the ancient scroll, the scroll scatters into dust. God has ensured that two people will remember his failed prophet, but also that Herschel's biography will be largely lost to the sands of time. God laughs for a while at being able to play another prank on the long-dead Herschel, just as he enjoyed playing pranks on him while Herschel was alive. —Dimos I Harvey and Zoey, two tourists travelling through Israel, discover an ancient scroll describing the life of Herschel, the man who was almost Moses. Herschel receives the command from God to free his people from Egyptian slavery, but Moses keeps blundering by and taking all the credit. Several other biblical stories, such as Lot and his wife, David and Goliath, and the miracles of Jesus, are also parodied in this story of the life of a man trying to follow the path to God, but somehow always seeming to lose his way. —Jean-Marc Rocher <rocher@fiberbit.net>
