Gina (37), tries to get pregnant with Carlos, her husband, despite the couple going through complex sexual difficulties. They were married when she was in her 30s and was the spoiled "girl" of a prosperous chocolate maker. Her mother died, after a long illness, when Gina was still in primary school. It is there where she learns to take refuge in horse riding. At that time Carlos was already an employee of the chocolate factory and had just graduated from an accountant and got married. The son of a single mother with problems of depression, he was tutored by a distant uncle. Carlos's wife, Helena, also depressed, commits suicide after giving birth to her son Luis, who was born with Down syndrome. Carlos was left alone with Genara, the marriage house keeper, who became Luís's nurse and took care of him until he was one year old and was admitted to an institution. Carlos kept his paternity a secret, everyone except Genara, believed that the child and the mother died from a complicated delivery. He grew sullen, nervous, content, and the only thing that reassured him was trying to satisfy his growing ambition through the factory. Very soon he became essential for Gina's father and even though it was a bad time for the national industry, he did not stop closing good deals, many of them shady, outside the factory, and using it as a screen. Gina's father died before Carlos and Gina began a brief courtship that would end in marriage. Gina at that point was very used to living well and surrounded by luxury. She married to be a mother and to continue with her way of life and Carlos with that of falling in love and satisfying the best partner life could have offered him. She was completely unaware of the folds of her husband's life, she felt loved and that was enough for her. Gina became pregnant and everything seemed to promise complete happiness, but sometime before the delivery, she lost the baby. The traumatic situation for her, from which she could not recover and which made her increasingly obsessed with the issue of motherhood and more demanding with Carlos, who was distancing himself from her and the sexuality of the couple, becoming more and more involved in his business. Currently, the shadow of her 40s approaches Dolores as a threat of not being able to fulfill her dream of being a mother. It is 1977 and the country is under the yoke of a bloody civic-military dictatorship. Carlos, full of professional success, is installed with Gina in the best building in Buenos Aires and begins to rub shoulders with the Rear- Admiral of the Navy who proposes a dark negotiation with the public works, that Carlos's ambition cannot let pass. Far from being able to satisfy her desire to be a mother, he becomes irritable and distances himself from her.t He becomes almost impotent. This, added to the growing indifference and neglect of both, is corroding the couple. However, Gina in her daily horseback riding seems to find the necessary comfort to get away from the anguish of not being a mother. A Lieutenant Commander, who lately frequents the married couple's house as the Rear Admiral's right hand, offers Carlos the baby of a politically detained woman in exchange for money. Carlos gets excited and begins to prepare the surprise for Gina. Far from the musings of her husband and, tired of the routine of a marriage that melts itself into sordid scenes and reproaches, one any afternoon she surprises herself to the attraction produced by the Club's new horse caretaker, Gervasio, and becomes her lover. However, the relief she finds in her new relationship does not last long as she soon receives unpleasant news: a dear friend, with whom she shared her childhood, is missing and her mother begs her to try to find out through their relationships if she is still alive. Gina knows that if she snoops into her husband's world, will come across details she never wanted to face. Full of horror and contradictions, she tries not to get involved but cannot stop thinking about her friend. At a party attended by the most select of military power, she breaks down in front of the friendly Lieutenant Commander in Carlos's intimate environment, who immediately offers her help. When Gina realizes that the Lieutenant intends to obtain sex in exchange for information, she walks away from him. She does not imagine that she has just challenged a hungry wolf who is going to chase her. Gina decides to talk to her husband about her friend's matter. Carlos reacts violently and leaves. Gina, devastated, confused and surprised, is ready to end all the farce that surrounds her but when she is about to leave the house the Lieutenant arrives, knowing that she would spend the night alone, to offer her company ...
