Mission Concepción is set in Texas between 1731-1836. It is a powerful docudrama beginning with the building of the Sanctuary and continuing through the birth of Texas. It brings the Mission's history to life and shows how God's purpose remains clear through the years. The stories of the Mission and her people have been passed down through the ages and are depicted in the paintings and the church's frescoes. The film spans a century and culminates with the Birth Of Texas. The Mission was originally designed for the purpose of converting the Hasinai Indians to Catholicism and teaching them how to become Spanish Citizens. From its inception, Concepción's walls protected her people from invaders, as it was the location of the first major engagement of the Texas Revoultion, finally resulting in Texas' Declaration of Independence. From the beginning, Concepción's people prayed that through the efforts of their Catholic Christian community, others might experience the love of God through Jesus Christ. This journey follows a fictional Hasinai boy, who is eventually called into the Priesthood at the Mission. It follows his life story and records the hardships he endures, while maintaining his roots and purpose. And, although the world changes around him, the mission of Concepción endures and stands the test of time. He eventually hears a new message about the profound purpose of Mission Concepción, and in his native tongue, he gives thanks to God for His message and guidance. By Francois Larosa.
