The film revolves around a Muslim man Hussain who is put behind the bars for the offense he never made and the lady officer who is on hunt for the murderer who killed the chief minister. But unable to trace the culprit, she falls in trap of the dirty games of the goons. Will hussain and the lady officer be able to clear the complications and problems forms the rest of the story.

Raj and Kajal lives are shattered when a man with supernatural ability predicts that Kajal will die. Born in Patiala, widower Fakirchand Kapoor lives a poor lifestyle with two daughters, the younger of which is Kajal, and collects recyclables and antiques (Bhangar) for a living. He re-locates to the United States, makes a lot of money, changes his name to Fakki Cappar, and returns to live in Bandra, Mumbai, gets his elder daughter married, and soon becomes the grandfather of Gudiya. Then one day he gets a visit from his childhood friend, who used to be a vegetable vendor, but is now a wealthy businessman and they rekindle their friendship. His friend tells him that the purpose of this visit is to solemnize the marriage of his son, Raj, and Kajal, who met in Cape Town and have fallen in love with each other. Both arrange for a formal engagement on Kajal's birthday. Both do not know that Kajal will soon come to know that her dad is going to pass away on the day of her engagement, there will be an accident involving 3 cars, the death of 6 people, and that, she, herself is going to die very soon. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com) Kajal Kapoor meets Raj and both is in love with each other. Their dads do approve of this match and they get engaged to each other but Kajal's life changes when she meets with a male who confides to her that her dad will pass away which does happen and then on another occasion this same male informs her that there will be an accident which involves 3 motor vehicles in which 6 people will die which does come to pass. Indian Army Major Ranvir Kaul (Amitabh Bachchan) and some 30 of his colleagues were captured in Pakistan and held under brutal conditions for 33 years. The jail is headed by Maj Qureshi (Piyush Mishra), who does not like the brutal torture of the prisoners. Kaul attempts another escape (he steals a lighter from his torturer and uses that to light his guard's face on fire, when he was being transported between prisons) but is caught, beaten, berated and thrown back in prison. Eijaz (Aditya Srivastava) is the ISI officer in charge of torturing them. During the fracas one of his men does flee and through a sympathetic friend, Jabbar (Akhilendra Mishra), sends a letter home. Kaul's wife (Tanuja) and son Gaurav (Akshaye Khanna) petition the Indian Army but the General, though sympathetic, has his hands tied. He raises the subject and Pakistan will deny it and immediately the men will be shot; he cannot authorize Army action absent hard evidence (not just a letter); there are no other options. Kaul's son, Gaurav, sets off to find his father. he is not sure if Ranvir is still alive, but his mother is resolute in her conviction. Other prisoners include Naru (Ashraful Haque), Anand (Rajendra Gupta), Nayyar (Kamlesh Sawant) & others. Gaurav smuggles himself into Pakistan (By getting captured as a Pakistani dead person and is thrown across the border by BSF in a body exchange) (Gaurav travels by train but is recognized by a policeman from the India matchbox he carries. Gaurav manages to kill the policeman and continue ahead) and meets Jabbar and discovers (he captures an interrogates a guard from the first jail) that his father has been transferred to a different prison camp (Since the original prison was being inspected by the Human right commission), Saran Jail under the cunning and sadistic Sohail (Kay Kay Menon). Sohail hangs one prisoner who had tried to escape during the transfer process, on the day of their arrival at his jail. Radhika (Amrita Rao) is Jabbar's daughter and falls in love with Gaurav. Kaul meets another set of captured Indian POWs (Capt. Ajit Verma (Nishikant Dixit)) at this new prison. Kaul attempts another escape. One man sacrifices himself on the electric fence (Actually Ranvir had got the short stick, but his junior sacrificed himself to save Ranvir) as others go through. Sohail bemusedly sighs as the others, once past the fence, are blown up by the landmines (10 soldiers die in the attempt). Kaul and the remaining prisoners are again beaten and kicked back into their barracks. One of the prisoners, Khan (Sanjay Dutt), manages to evade the landmines (by jumping over the dead bodies) and escapes. Gaurav meets him accidentally, while Khan was being pursued by trained dogs and Pakistani military police and brings him to safety. Gaurav attacks a military courier and, using his uniforms, infiltrates a Pakistan Army office block. Gaurav is caught by Eijaz, but Khan had followed Gaurav and saves his life. He steals a set of plans which reveal a water main under the prison. His father and the men can dig their way to this main and crawl out. With great reluctance Khan gets arrested again and tells Gaurav that the escape will happen in 10 days. Sohail correctly guesses that Khan is back for a reason. Khan discloses to Kaul that his son is here; this news, and the water main, is a great inspiration for the men. The men quietly begin digging a tunnel to the water main. They discover the body of an Indian Army Captain Jatin (Raj Zutshi) in the debris under the prison, but this Jatin is among them! Khan and Kaul realize that he is in fact a Pakistani spy. Gaurav and Khan had planned the escape for the night of the tenth and Jatin, the spy, had dutifully reported this back to Sohail. Kaul and Khan decide that the escape will happen on the ninth. Jatin is not told of this, but the men manage to send a coded message to Gaurav. The following day Khan notices the number 9 scrawled on an army supply truck entering the prison: it is Gaurav's reply. He will await the men near the water main outlet on the ninth. On the night of the escape the men overpower the guards (Ranvir stays out of the barracks as the men sneak in a dummy to maintain the head count. Then the major attacks the guards at night to steal the keys and rescues the men from their cabin) and kill Jatin. They enter the water main and begin digging away the last few meters of remaining debris. The knocking in the pipes travels up to Sohail's kitchen sink; Sohail quickly discovers the escape and hotly pursues the men down the pipe. Gaurav digs from the other side and, just in the nick of time, the debris is cleared, and father and son are reunited. The men make it through. One of them (Jatta (Raghuvir Yadav)) sacrifices himself on a land mine inside the water main which caves in and blocks Sohail. Rajan (Arif Zakaria) also stays back at the camp to fire at the Pakistani and prevent them from pursuing his comrades. Gaurav leads his father and the men to a railway line, but the train is delayed till morning. The men split up to avoid detection and arrange to meet at dawn near a border point village. They arrive at the border point, but Sohail and his men are in close pursuit. There is a firefight. Khan puts up a brave fight but is shot down. Ranvir Kaul and Gaurav and the handful of remaining prisoners finally get across the border in a Pakistan army truck. Sohail is right behind them, but his jeep is disarmed and he is surrounded by Kaul and the prisoners. Kaul points to the border line behind them; they are now on Indian soil. Kaul, now an Indian Army soldier, attacks and kills Sohail in hand-to-hand combat, and throws his body across the border. The film ends as Ranvir Kaul and his men are reinstated in the Indian Army and salute the Indian tricolor.

A rebel crosses swords with an influential rich man after falling in love with his daughter. However the girl's father is hell bent to break their relation at any cost. Suraj Saxena (Arjun Rampal) lives in a remote hill station in India with his dad (Om Puri), mom (Smita Jaykar), and sister, Asha (Amita Nangia). One day he meets with Kiran Choudhary (Diya Mirza), who has come on holiday trip with a group of girls. He offers to show her around and they fall in love with each other. Suraj is unable to see her home by the train as his dad has chest pains and has to be rushed to hospital. But Suraj is unable to get Kiran out of his mind and heart. After his sister get's married, the family decide to relocate to Bombay, where Suraj enlists in College and makes several new friends, as well as becomes a popular football player. He eventually meets Kiran and both renew their romance. Ranvir Choudhary (Vinod Khanna) does not appreciate the attentions of a poor man like Suraj on his daughter, and has Suraj brought up before him and introduced to his many friends, which include prominent lawyers, politicians, high ranking civil and municipal employees, the police commissioner as well as the state chief minister. Suraj is warned of dire consequences if he and his family do not leave town immediately. Suraj does not leave town, and hell descends on his family and himself. His mother is unable to purchase food and is publicly humiliated; his father is followed around by Ranvir's goons, harassed, and robbed, and then faces the ultimate humiliation of being publicly arrested, handcuffed, and imprisoned on charges of conspiring against the country and loses his job; and some of Suraj's friends exile him. With so much pressure, will Suraj relent and leave the city, or will he let his dad rot in prison? A crime boss is accused by a reporter of murdering her brother and raping her. He investigates the frame-up. Worldwide crime bosses elect Devraj as the new chairman of their organization. This news gets to the police so much that when Inspector, Amit's childhood friend, Ravi is found dead and his sister, Payal is kidnapped the suspension goes towards Devraj. Searches conducted by the police at Devraj's locations meet with considerable progress when they manages to rescue Payal albeit in a critical state as well as arrest Devraj in the process. Devraj is placed before the court of law where-by he is sentenced to death as Payal testify against him. It was also found out that Payal and Devraj was once in love with each other while she happen to get an interview from him during her employment as a television reporter. Situation twists when a hospital patient who happen to be the uncle of Devraj convinces him as well as the law that he had been framed for someone else crime thus Devraj is acquitted and must now begin a quest to find out who framed him and why.

Mala is raped by Raja. She takes him to court, but the judge orders her to marry her rapist as punishment. Despite Raja and his family's cruelty, Mala perseveres with kindness, eventually winning them over through her goodness. A pretty schoolteacher named Mala (Rani Mukherjee) becomes the victim of the unwanted advances of an evil man named Raja (Shadab Khan). When she rejects him, he rapes her. The teacher then takes him to court but to her horror the judge compels her to marry the rapist as part of the punishment. Deepak (Vikas Bhalla) and Jyoti (Neelam Dharamdas) are in love, against her wealthy father's wishes. When Seth Dharamdas (Dalip Tahil) has Deepak assaulted, Jyoti rebels and marries him. They move in with his sister, Asha, and her husband, Madan, who is an investment banker. On request of Shakti Singh (Kiran Kumar), he invests two and a half million in real estate, only to find out he has been swindled out of the money. Deepak sells his ancestral property, only to be robbed. The funds must be replaced in 24 hours, when they meet Prakash (Sumeet Saigal). Wealthy Suraj lives in a palatial house with his mom Anjali, and dad. When the time comes for his marriage, his parents find him a suitable match, but he chooses a woman from a poor family, antagonizing her parents, who ask him to choose between them and the girl. Suraj chooses to stay with his wife and moves out. Years later, Suraj's dad passes away, leaving his wife alone to look after the business and the vast estate, and making her promise that she will never welcome Suraj, his wife, or any of their children into their home. Suraj and is wife tragically die in an accident, leaving behind their son Raja. One day Anjali receives a telegram informing her of Raja coming to stay with her. She instructs her employees not to let Raja inside the house, so Raja pitches a tent on her lawn and lives there, hoping one day to win her over and be invited into the house. Eventually, Anjali does welcome him with open arms. Since he's of marriageable age, she wants him to marry Sonu Rai, the beautiful young daughter of wealthy Sampat Rai. But Raja is in love with Chhaya, a servant in their household, which is unacceptable to Anjali. Over at Chhaya's house, her brother Shankar opposes her marriage with Raja and wants her to marry Maniram.
