In 2010, an accident occurs in the mine-shafts of an Ethiopian Hebrew mining company. Two workers sense an opportunity and sneak back into the mine, while everybody outside is distracted with the accident. They retrieve a rare and valuable black opal. This is the uncut gem. In 2012, Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler) the KMH jewelry store in New York City's Diamond District while struggling to pay back gambling debts, particularly $100,000 to a loan shark named Arno (Eric Bogosian). Howard has recently undergone a colonoscopy. Arno and his men treat Howard very roughly for his failure to not being able to settle the loan and slap him in his shop, in front of his customers. They take away his $20,000 watch for not beating him up more. Howard has a well-paying job, but his habits are even more expensive. He has a gambling addiction, a fancy house on Long Island for his wife Dinah, an apartment in Manhattan for his mistress Julia, and a swimming pool that needs resurfacing. His domestic life is split between his employee and mistress Julia (Julia Fox), and his estranged wife Dinah (Idina Menzel), who's agreed to divorce him after Passover. Although he has $100,000 in cash, he spends the money on a 600-carat black opal from Ethiopia's Welo mine, which he smuggles to America. He gambles that he can sell the opal for as much as $1 million. One day, Howard receives the rock containing the opal. Howard plans to auction it off. Demany (Lakeith Stanfield), one of his employees (an intermediary who recruits clients for him), secures basketball player Kevin Garnett as a customer, who becomes obsessed with the opal and wants to buy it. Howard refuses to sell the opal and says that he intends to auction it. Garnett insists on holding onto the opal for good luck at his game that night. Howard reluctantly agrees, taking Garnett's championship ring as collateral and immediately pawning (for $21,000) it in order to place a large bet on the game, planning to buy it back with his winnings. Howard had already paid his broker $19,000 for a different bet, and he scraps it and makes the new bet for $40,000. He places a degenerate six-way parlay worth $600,000, betting that Garnett will play well. Unluckily for Howard, Arno's men see him placing a bet. Howard wins his bet on the game, but Demany informs him that Garnett wishes to keep the opal longer. Howard is later ambushed at his daughter's school play by Arno and his bodyguards, Phil (Keith Williams Richards) and Nico (Tommy Kominik). When Howard explains that he can pay him back with the money he won, Arno reveals that he placed a stop on the bet, as it was made with money owed to him. The trio then strip Howard naked and lock him in the trunk of his own car, forcing him to call Dinah to unlock it for him. Becoming desperate, Howard rushes that night to find the opal at a party hosted by The Weeknd (which Demany is attending) and ends up getting into a fight with the singer after discovering him and Julia together in a bathroom. Howard angrily chastises Julia and throws her out of his apartment. During Passover dinner it is revealed Arno is actually Howard's brother in-law. Dinah rejects Howard's plea to give their marriage another chance. When Howard brags about the opal to their father in-law Gooey (Judd Hirsch) and how much money it will bring, Arno notices and takes an interest in the upcoming auction. Garnett soon returns the opal and offers Howard $250,000 for it, but Howard refuses given the substantially larger appraisal. Howard lies that he left Garnett's ring at home. Demany quits when he learns that Howard pawned Garnett's ring, as well as other clients' collateral. Howard berates Demany for allowing Garnett to hold onto the opal for so long. Enraged, Demany trashes Howard's office. At the auction, Howard is devastated to discover the opal has been appraised for significantly lower than his estimate, for only $155,000. Desperate, he convinces Gooey to bid on the gem to drive up the price, but this backfires when Garnett bows out before the bid reaches $200,000 (Gooey was at $180,000) and Gooey wins. Arno, Phil, and Nico confront him outside of the auction, beat him up, and throw him into a fountain. Howard returns to his shop battered and emotionally broken, where Julia comforts him and the two repair their relationship. Immediately afterward Howard receives a call from Garnett's assistant informing him that Garnett still wants to buy the opal for $175,000. Howard retrieves Garnett's championship ring by exchanging his own 1973 Knicks championship ring as collateral, and finally completes the deal for the Opal and Garnett pays him $165,000 for it. Garnett visits KMH to pick up the ring and confront Howard about his auction scheme. Howard explains that he has an emotional need to chase the next big score. He is already planning his next big bet, and uses the confrontation to motivate Garnett to dominate the next game. However instead of immediately paying off his debts, Howard again becomes wrapped up in the idea of betting on Garnett's connection with the Opal. He gives the money to Julia, instructing her to put it all on Garnett's game that night. She takes the money and boards a helicopter to the Mohegan Sun casino to place the bet, barely escaping Arno, Phil and Nico who've come to collect. They become furious when they learn of the bet and try to pursue Julia, but Howard locks them in the vestibule of the store as they try to leave. Howard frantically watches the game with his money on the line, with Arno and his muscle watching alongside. Ultimately Howard's bet pays off, winning him over $1.2 million. While Howard celebrates and releases the trio from the vestibule, an angry Phil suddenly shoots Howard in the head. A horrified Arno protests and tries to escape, but Phil kills him as well. An overjoyed Julia leaves with the winnings on her way back to Howard, unaware that he's been murdered while Phil and Nico continue to loot the store of its contents with the police in route.

Nick Spitz (Adam Sandler) is a New York police officer, and his wife Audrey (Jennifer Aniston) is a hairdresser. Audrey wants to visit Europe, as Nick had promised at their wedding, but thinks they never will. After their 15th-anniversary dinner, Audrey confronts Nick, who lies that he has in fact booked the trip, and they set off to Europe. On the plane, Audrey meets billionaire Charles Cavendish (Luke Evans), who invites the couple to join him on his family yacht for a party celebrating his elderly uncle's upcoming wedding to Charles' former fiance. After seeing how crowded their previously planned bus tour would be, Nick agrees. Aboard the yacht, Nick and Audrey meet Cavendish's ex-fiance Suzi (Shiori Kutsuna) (who is now about to marry his uncle Malcolm Quince), his cousin Tobey (David Walliams) (who is Malcolm's son and is gay, Malcolm hates him), actress Grace Ballard (Gemma Arterton), Colonel Ulenga (John Kani) (who saved Malcolm's life in Namibia a long time ago), his bodyguard Sergei (Ólafur Darri Olafsson), the Maharaja Vikram (Adeel Akhtar) of Mumbai, race car driver Juan Carlos Rivera (Luis Gerardo Méndez) (Malcolm's godson and driver for his race-car team), and their host Malcolm Quince (Terence Stamp), Cavendish's uncle. Quince announces that his new wife Suzi will be the only one to receive his inheritance, believing the others only feign interest in him because of his money. Before he can sign his new will, the lights go out and come back on to reveal Quince dead, stabbed by his own dagger. Nick, who has lied to Audrey about being an NYPD detective (as he has failed the exam thrice in a row), orders the room locked, and the guests return to their rooms. Audrey theorizes that there must be 2 people behind the killing, one to man the lights and the second with the dagger. Later that night, the guests find Tobey, Quince's only son, dead from an apparent suicide (with a typewritten suicide note taking the blame for his father's murder). Upon arriving in Monte Carlo, the guests are questioned by Inspector Laurent Delacroix (Dany Boon), who believes Nick and Audrey guilty of the murders (he knows that Nick is not a detective and is lying to Audrey). At the Monaco Grand Prix, Nick and Audrey question the guests. That night, Sergei summons them to his room, where he reveals Quince had married the Colonel's fiance while the Colonel was in a coma (just after saving Malcolm's life from the bomb attack in Namibia), which ended with her death and a boy child who was allegedly stillborn. Sergei also reveals that a few years later the Colonel asked him how to kill Malcolm as he had not forgiven him for marrying the love of his life). The couple hide when someone knocks on the door and come out to find Sergei has been murdered. Bravely, they climb out the window and edge along the ledge, high above the ground. In the process, they see the Colonel flossing his teeth and Maharaja and Grace kissing, ruling out the chances of any of them being the murderer and killing Sergei. While fleeing, they see on the news that Delacroix has issued a warrant for their arrest. Audrey is furious to learn Nick is not actually a detective and lied about booking the trip in advance, and she leaves with Cavendish. Nick follows Suzi to a library where he finds Audrey, who reveals Cavendish is in the building as well. They realize Cavendish and Suzi are still in love and, presumably, the murderers. The couple are forced to flee from a hidden gunman and meet Rivera, and are confronted by Suzi, who is killed by the masked killer. Nick and Audrey go to Quince's mansion to confront Cavendish but find him dead by poisoning. The couple summon Delacroix and the remaining guests The Colonel, Grace, Vikram, and Rivera, who all have alibis. Nick and Audrey deduce that Grace is the murderer; she was helped by Tobey, then killed him. Grace reveals that she is Quince's child that "died" and that his money truly belongs to her, though she denies being the killer. However, Grace proves her guilt, and she is arrested. While celebrating, Nick and Audrey learn that Grace had another alibi (for the time when Sergei was murdered) and there must be another killer. They realize Rivera is the second murderer, who blamed Quince for an accident his father had where he had lost both of his legs. Rivera holds Delacroix hostage and leads Nick and Audrey in a car chase, but they force his car to crash and rescue Delacroix. Rivera holds them all at gunpoint, but is killed by the chaotic tour bus, which Nick and Audrey would have initially boarded earlier. Delacroix thanks the couple and offers to help get Nick promoted to detective back home. The movie ends with Nick and Audrey continuing their vacation aboard the fabled Orient Express courtesy of Interpol.

The Week OfSarah Lustig and Tyler Cortice are one week away from their wedding. Despite Tyler's father, Kirby, being a wealthy doctor, Sarah's father, Kenny-a humble construction worker-insists on covering all the wedding expenses, resulting in a low-budget affair. As the wedding approaches, chaos ensues. Determined to impress Kirby, Kenny arranges to have his hotel room upgraded to appear more luxurious. However, a series of blunders by the hotel staff damages adjacent rooms, forcing both families to squeeze into the already crowded Lustig household. To make matters worse, the hotel is also the venue for the reception, and the damage threatens the event. Despite Kirby's offers to help, Kenny stubbornly refuses, determined to handle everything himself. Meanwhile, a misunderstanding leads to Kenny's elderly uncle, Seymour, being mistakenly celebrated as a World War II veteran, though he never served in combat. When accusations arise, Kenny persuades the mayor to host the reception at City Hall under the guise of a party honoring Seymour. However, during Tyler's bachelor party, Seymour tragically dies in a bizarre accident. Kenny is forced to confess that Seymour's supposed war injuries were actually due to diabetes, leading the mayor to cancel the event. Desperate to save the reception, Kenny, his wife Debbie, and Seymour's son Charles hatch a wild plan to release bats into City Hall via the chimney as a distraction. Despite the chaos, the wedding day begins smoothly, and the ceremony is a success. During the reception, Kirby confronts Kenny about his erratic behavior. Kenny admits his actions stemmed from a heartfelt desire to do one last meaningful thing for his daughter before she started her new life. Unfortunately, their conversation takes place while they are being carried on a platform during a dance. The platform collapses, spilling water onto the electronics, which causes a fire. Ashamed but remorseful, Kenny confesses his feelings to Sarah, who forgives him. The families rally together, moving the rest of the celebration to the Lustig home. By the end of the day, Kenny and Kirby reconcile, agreeing that Kirby will cover the cost of a family vacation, marking the beginning of a new, harmonious chapter for both families.

Charlie (David Spade) is unhappily living in Florida with his materialistic wife, Nikki (Natasha Leggero) and her two unpleasant twin sons from her ex-husband, Ted-O (Sean Astin). He is a bank manager in a supermarket and Nikki is cheating on him with Ted-O. Charlie reunites with his old high school buddy (and FBI agent) Max (Adam Sandler) at a high school reunion. Charlie is still driving his old car and is working the same place as in high school. He is in a rut. The next day Nikki wins an all-expense paid trip to Naples, Florida. Turns out that was organized by Max, who takes Charlie to spend a weekend on a yacht Max rented, and Charlie feels young again. Max blows up the yacht to fake their deaths. When Charlie regains consciousness, Max tells him they can now both start new, better lives. He confesses that he is not an FBI agent and is actually a coroner. This allowed him to use two unclaimed cadavers in place of them; Charlie is given the new identity of Dr. Ronald P. Fishman, and Max takes on the new identity of Butch Ryder. Initially appalled, Charlie soon realizes he has no reason to return to his old life after witnessing his lackluster funeral, Nikki reconciling with Ted-O and that the bank has quickly replaced his job role. Max tells Charlie that he found a key in Butch's rectum, which Charlie as a bank manager (he has access to a Federal database that helps him track the location of the bank from which the key originates) determines it belongs to a safe deposit box in Puerto Rico. Traveling to Puerto Rico, they access Butch's safe deposit box, which contains an iPad, money ($1 MM in cash), a letter from Dakota to Butch and the keys to a mansion with a Ferrari. The duo relocates there (Max is looking for something at the house), befriending and later having an orgy with neighbors Dawn (Catherine Bell) and Joan (Jackie Sandler) during which Dawn reveals the original Butch and Ronald bought the mansion in a hurry, implying they were on the run from something. They find out Ronald was married after seeing a picture of his wife on Butch's tablet. At the mansion, Max and Charlie are attacked by a group of assassins led by The Gymnast (Torsten Voges). They escape, and Max admits he's not a coroner, but actually a guidance counselor. He claims he found Butch and Ronald dead, from bullets. Butch is on the FBI's most wanted list. They return to the continental U.S. to find Ronald's widow, Heather (Paula Patton) at her home in Savannah, Georgia. Max and Charlie explain to her that Ronald was murdered (Butch and Ronald were riding motorcycles together. Ronald was a doctor but was now involved in pharmaceutical research) and infer that Butch got Ronald entangled in criminal activity. Heather tells them that Ronald's study was broken into recently. The trio head to a biker bar where Ronald and Butch used to meet up. At the bar, they learn from a biker, Dakota (who is a huge guy), that Butch had stage four cancer. Ronald had developed a "magic bullet" cancer treatment, and they began conducting secret, non-FDA approved clinical trials. When Ronald's financier, Shecky (Matt Walsh), withdrew funding, Butch started robbing banks (Thats how he landed on FBI's most wanted list). Dakota (Stan Ellsworth) reveals that Ronald and Butch had an affair, but right then Dakota is killed by The Gymnast. The trio escape to Max's mother's house where they are stalked by Max's ex, Becca (Kathryn Hahn) and Charlie ends up having sex with Heather. At Shecky's he reveals that his house was also broken into recently. He had to stop financing the project, as all the banks called in the loans all of a sudden, and for no reason. The trio leave, determining the men who tried to kill them and broke into their homes wanted the cancer treatment formula. Charlie says they should forfeit the formula when they find it, which angers Max. While hacking Ronald's computer, Charlie discovers Max was one of Ronald's cancer patients. He also learns that Max has a young son with Becca and realizes Max had been trying to recover the cure to save his own life. Returning to Shecky's, Max thinks he is withholding the cure. Shecky has been shot, but before he dies, reveals the assassins were hired by Trojgaard, the world's largest chemotherapy company, to steal the cure and bury it. The Gymnast, still in the house, takes Max hostage. Meanwhile, at Becca's, Charlie realizes the Jenga app on Butch's tablet actually holds Ronald's cure. Becca tells Charlie that Max had found Butch and Ronald dead in Ronald' clinic and had this idea to impersonate them to get to the cure. He selected Charlie as Charlie was going nowhere in life and was likely to say yes. He attempts to call Max, but The Gymnast destroys Max's phone as he is tortured. Heather then arrives at Shecky's, telling Max that she not only accepted a fortune from Trojgaard to bury the formula when Ronald refused, but also that she was the one who killed Ronald and Butch. Charlie calls Heather, and she claims Max killed Shecky. When they meet, Charlie sees through her lie, and punches her in the face, but she then holds him at gunpoint. Before she can shoot, Max, who had escaped The Gymnast after he accidentally electrocuted himself, knocks her down. Heather then points the gun at them both, but Becca shows up, beats her unconscious, and recovers the tablet. The police arrive, and when they draw their weapons, Becca accidentally throws the tablet into the bay as she puts up her hands. The tablet suffers irreparable damage, but Charlie backed up the formula on a USB. The men are pardoned for their crimes when they offer the cancer treatment as a bargaining chip. Charlie disguises himself as a zombie and gets his revenge at Nikki, Ted-O and the twins. Charlie, Max, Becca, son and mother return to the mansion in Puerto Rico after Max is cured.

He is employed, on a part-time basis only, as a toll booth attendant and he more or less just does this job just to get out of the apartment once in a while. The film shows Sonny's friends, all former schoolmates, are "moving ahead" in their lives. His roommate, Kevin Gerrity (Jon Stewart), decides to ask Corinne (Leslie Mann) to marry him, which is another thing that irritates Sonny. Kevin decides to pop the question the day before he is leaving for China for his law firm. Corinne vehemently dislikes Sonny because he constantly teases her about her former job at Hooters when she was in medical school. Two of his male friends from school, in contrast to their conduct in Sonny's experience while at school, are now revealed to be homosexual and in a committed domestic partnership. Sonny's girlfriend, Vanessa (Kristy Swanson), disgusted and perplexed at Sonny's contrasting and inconsistent conduct decides to end her romantic relationship with him-and also find a new much older man with more reliability. Sonny quickly becomes occupied with a new series of events in his life. Sonny wakes up to Kevin already at the airport leaving for China. Kevin is revealed to having fathered an illegitimate son, whose name is Julian (Dylan and Cole Sprouse). Julian is abandoned at Sonny and Kevin's apartment, with a written explanation that Julian's mother is now declining to care further for Julian. It is revealed at the Social Services office that Julian's mother died of cancer. Kevin, at the airport ready to go to China, gets a call from Sonny informing him of the letter and the boy. Despite his selfishness and lack of parenting skills, Sonny assures him that he will take care of Julian until Kevin returns from China. Sonny decides to handle the situation himself, and, in the process, decides Julian will solve his problem with his ex-girlfriend. To win Vanessa back, Sonny introduces her to Julian. However, he discovers that she is now dating Sid, whom - despite being much older than her - she reveres as more motivated and intelligent with a "five-year plan". Becoming frustrated with parenting, Sonny poses as Kevin and takes Julian to his social worker Arthur Brooks (Josh Mostel) telling him that Julian should return to his mother. However, Brooks informs Sonny that Julian's mother died of cancer and offers to place Julian into a foster home. After this, Sonny rants about it in a phone call to his father, Lenny, who is shocked and infuriated with Sonny for trying to raise a child, due to his irresponsibility. Sonny, in caring for Julian, soon discovers a new purpose in his life and a deep connection with Julian as a father figure. Julian helps Sonny find a new girlfriend in Corinne's lawyer sister Layla. Brooks finds a foster home for Julian and leaves messages for Sonny, but is suspicious when he does not respond. After a meeting at Julian's school Sonny rethinks his parenting methods after Julian's teacher complains about the habits he has developed due to Sonny's influence. He turns Julian's behavior around. Social Services discovers that Sonny is posing as Kevin and insists that he give up Julian. Social services take Julian and decides to press charges against Sonny. Sonny complies, but contacts Layla to help take legal action. The case is brought to court, where Sonny has his friends as counsel, including Layla (Joey Lauren Adams), Corinne's sister and Sonny's new girlfriend, and late arrival Kevin. Sonny gets positive testimony from his friends-even Corinne, who swore to disliking him from the day they met. Sonny then calls himself to the stand and asks his father to question him. Despite Lenny's fervent belief that he is not father material, Sonny convinces him that he will not fail at being a father. Impressed by Sonny's sincerity, Lenny vouches for him. The judge is ready to sentence him to jail for kidnapping Julian and defrauding the state. At this point, Kevin steps forward as Julian's father and insists that no charges be filed, having remembered a drunken fling with a Hooters girl in Toronto during the 1993 World Series, and connecting that with Julian's earlier testimony of originally coming from Toronto and being born in July. Judge Healy (Carmen De Lavallade) grants Kevin custody pending a DNA test. Sonny promises Julian that although he cannot be his father, he will always be there for him. He then passes Julian to Kevin and the two start to bond. Sonny still maintains contact with Julian through Kevin, often meeting up with him for activities such as basketball. One year, three months, and six days later, Sonny, now a lawyer and married to Layla with a child of their own, is surprised with a birthday party at Hooters attended by all his colleagues and friends, including Julian, but is more surprised to find his ex-girlfriend working as a Hooters girl, and her boyfriend with his so-called five-year plan working the grill.
