The story of Vaslav Nijinsky, who is widely believed to be one of the greatest ballet dancers of all time. Based on Romola Nijinsky's "Last Years Of Nijinski. Set in the early 1910s at a time of passionate artistic experimentalism, and based on biographical fact, this is the story of Vaslav Nijinsky, the young and brilliant but headstrong premier ballet dancer and aspiring choreographer of the Ballets Russes. The company is managed by the famous Sergei Diaghilev, a controlling, fiercely possessive impresario. The increasing tension between these powerful egos, exacerbated by homosexual desire and jealousy, becomes triangular when young ballerina Romola de Pulsky determinedly attempts to draw the increasingly mentally-unstable Nijinsky away from Diaghilev. —Eric Wees <eric_wees@pch.gc.ca>

The Go-Between recounts the secret love affair between a beautiful heiress and a poor tenant farmer, told by the twelve-year-old boy who is hired to be their message bearer.

Georgy (Lynn Redgrave) appears to be heading for spinsterhood: She's well past "marrying age", is overweight and frumpy, and her parents have low expectations of her. However, her natural ability and empathy with children make her shine. Mr. Leamington, her father's boss (James Mason), is stuck in a loveless marriage with a sickly wife (Rachel Kempson) and believes he has found a lonely woman in Georgy whom he can set up as his mistress. Some of the most clever scenes are when Georgy successfully stiff-arms Mr. Leamington and keeps him at bay. She is at her most vulnerable juxtaposed with her pretty roommate, Meredith (Charlotte Rampling), a tramp who has had many boyfriends and abortions. When Meredith turns up pregnant once again and decides to have the baby, Georgy's path in life becomes clear even to Georgy, despite a coming-of-age detour with Meredith's boyfriend-cum-husband Jos (Alan Bates).
