Nicola Six (Amber Heard) has clairvoyant powers and discovers that she will die at the hands of one man. She begins an affair with three men to discover which of them is the killer. The story opens with Samson Young (Billy Bob Thornton), a terminally ill American writer who has come to London, apartment swapping with fellow writer Mark Asprey (Jason Isaacs). He is taken there by taxi driver Keith Talent (Jim Sturgess), a crude slob who despite not being very bright, excels at darts. After going to Mark's flat, Keith takes him to a pub called the Black Cross where he meets Guy Clinch (Theo James), the current head of his family's business empire, who is trapped in a loveless marriage with his wife Hope (Jaimie Alexander). Clinch has a disturbed son, who tries to destroy everything he can get his hands on, although he tries to be a good man, and is not crude unlike Keith, but for some reason is his friend. Keith keeps borrowing money from Guy, so he can pay of all the loan sharks he owes, including darts rival Chick Purchase (Johnny Depp). While at the pub, they meet Nicola Six, who has just arrived from a funeral. Keith starts flirting with her. Guy does not but does try to be a gentleman. Samson is fascinated by her. The next day in the park, Samson sees Nicola dump a few books in a bin. Samson picks them out and starts reading them; the books imply that Nicola has the power to see into the future but can only see people's deaths. It tells that she knew how her parents, sister, and best friend were going to die. Nicola knew that she would die a few moments after her 30th birthday on Guy Fawkes Day. In the discarded diary, her last entry was that she met her murderer that day (she met Samson, Keith and Guy) Samson takes the books back to her flat and asks Nicola if she would be the central character for his murder novel. Nicola looks annoyed but agrees. Samson discovers that Nicola lives in the apartment above him and places recording devices between the cracks. Keith tries to hit on Nicola, but she says she knows he is married and has kids. She asks Keith to tell Guy to call her. Nicola then asks Samson to find out how much Keith owes to the loan sharks. Nicola then plays the innocent naive woman with Guy who is trying to help her find her friend in Burma (Enola gay and her son Little Boy). Guy becomes overprotective of her and eventually makes love to her. She lies about being a virgin to Guy, whilst also being the Femme Fatale with Keith (with the promise that he will earn money to pay off his debts, if he goes along with her plans). She tells Guy she is teaching Keith to read and tells Keith it is all part of a con (on Guy) so Keith can pay off his debt. Chick Purchase has bought out all of Keith's debt and Keith has to pay him by Guy Fawke's day. She seduces and manipulates both of them by openly flirting with one in front of the other. Samson emails his novel, The Murderee, to his publicists, Missy and Mark. Missy responds by email that she will not publish it because she believes it is about her. He receives a phone call from Mark saying he admires Samson's nerve. Nicola, pretending to be from social services, visits Keith's flat where she meets Keith's wife Kath (Cara Delevingne) and their daughter. Nicola mocks the way they live and threatens to turn their daughter over to child services. Later that night, Keith goes to Nicola's flat to threaten her, but she has the money (Guy gave her the money, so that Nicola doesn't sell her grandmother's earrings in order to help her friend Enola) to pay off Chick (who paid off the other loan sharks, so now Keith owes it all to him), which he does. Nicola and Samson meet at a restaurant where Samson tells Nicola he thinks the reader will only ever see her as a male fantasy figure. Nicola then tells Samson she knows he is dying and begins to flirt with him. Samson initially rejects her, eventually giving in and making love. Guy breaks up with his wife, as demanded by Nicola, only to realize that there was no Burmese friend named Enola and that Nicola played Guy. At the darts world championship, Nicola rejects both Keith and Guy, kissing Chick in front of both of them. Samson finds photos in one of Mark's books showing his affair with Nicola, on Guy Fawkes Night. On Nicola's 30th birthday, it is revealed that Samson is the one to kill her. Although she knew she was going to die that night, she did not know who would kill her. She accepts her fate and Samson kills her. He then takes her body back to Mark's flat and prints his novel. He renames it London Fields and leaves a note on top of the novel, before placing it on Nicola. He then lies next to her and dies. The next morning, Mark returns home to find them dead. He picks up Samson's novel and starts reading it. He sells the novel under his own name, and it becomes a number-one bestseller. Keith and Kath watch him on television annoyed.

With restored faith in humanity, Bruce Wayne enlists Diana Prince`s help to face an enemy. Together they recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.

In 1937, a soldier (Bill Hader) in a military facility (which is underground and hidden in the middle of nowhere) is being observed through a two-way mirror smoking marijuana and revealing in his euphoria what he hates about the army. The soldier complains that the army has all men, not enough women, is too secretive, and wants to share "item 9" (code for marijuana) with the whole world. A high-ranking officer closes the project, disposes of the soldier and deems marijuana illegal. Seventy years later in 2007, Dale Denton (Seth Rogen), a subpoena server wants marijuana to be made legal as he argues that everyone loves smoking weed. Dale says that marijuana makes everything better like food, music, sex and even bad movies. Dale believes that the current system is putting money in hands of the criminals and is forcing ordinary people to deal with the criminals. Dale is 25 and is dating an 18-year-old high school girl named Angela. Angela wants Dale to visit her parents, but he keeps making excuses about work. Meanwhile Angela's lab partner Clark (Arthur Napiontek) is hitting on Angela. Dale promises Angela that he will drop by for dinner with her parents that night. Dale visits his drug dealer, Saul Silver (James Franco), to buy marijuana. Saul sells Dale a Pac of the Pineapple express blend, a rare kind of strain that recently hit the market. Saul brags that he is the only dealer in town to have this strain of weed. Saul lures Dale to smoke a joint with him. While talking, Saul learns that Dale is a process server and has to wear disguises to serve legal papers to their intended recipients in person. Saul says he may know Dale's next customer, to whom Dale is serving some court papers, Ted Jones (Gary Cole). Saul buys his supply from Red, who buys it from Ted. At Ted's house, Dale is waiting outside to finish his joint when a police car pulls up. Dale witnesses Ted and a police officer, Carol Brazier (Rosie Perez), shoot and kill a rival Korean gangster. While fleeing, Dale leaves behind his roach (joint) containing Pineapple Express, the rare strain of marijuana he just purchased from Saul. Ted identifies the strain and sends his henchmen Budlofsky (Kevin Corrigan) and Matheson (Craig Robinson) to Red (Danny McBride), a dealer who tells them about Saul. Dale rushes back to Saul & at his apartment, Dale learns Ted is a drug lord and could trace the roach (as only Red and Saul have the Pineapple Express strain). Dale and Saul decide they must flee the city. They attempt to hide in the woods where Dale's car battery dies. Dale and Saul visit Red, who was already working with Budlofsky and had ratted Saul out. Red reveals that Ted knows who they are and intends to kill them. Dale and Saul escape, as Budlofsky comes in. Budlofsky and Matheson torture Red for information and both shoot him in the abdomen. Ted orders Budlovsky to kill Red. Meanwhile the Korean gang members are outside Ted's house and listening to all his conversations. Believing Dale's high-school girlfriend Angie to be in danger, he and Saul travel to her home. Dale shows up for dinner at his girlfriend's Angie (Amber Heard) parents' house and obviously it goes bad as Dale is bleeding and he stinks. Angie's dad pulls out his shotgun and starts shooting at Dale & Saul, but Dale manages to convince him to calm down. As Budlofsky reaches Angie's house (tracking Dale's car), Dale and Saul leave. Angie's family goes to a hotel. Meanwhile Ted and Carol talk to the Korean mob boss Cheung (Dana Lee) and tell him that his assassin is dead. Ted promises retaliation if Cheung does not withdraw Dale. Ted thinks Dale is another assassin sent by Cheung. Cheng decides to attack Ted. Dale and Saul decide they must leave the city. They sell Pineapple Express to raise bus fare, but Dale is arrested by Police Liaison Officer Bobbra (Cleo King). Dale tells Bobbra that he witnessed Brazier and Ted murder a man. Bobbra has long been suspicious of Brazier's corruption and says she will investigate. However, Saul, thinking that it is Brazier driving, hijacks the police car. Brazier hears on police radio of Dale's arrest and pursues Dale and Saul in a high-speed chase, but they escape. After Dale and Saul argue, they call each other stupid and the main reason of why they both are in this mess. Dale and Saul split up, and Saul is kidnapped. Budlofsky was waiting at Saul's grandmother's retirement home, when Saul visited her. Saul is held in Ted's lair beneath the same military facility from 1937. Dale enlists Red's help to rescue Saul. Red had miraculously survived 2 gunshots to his body and arms himself and Dale and drives Dale to the lair where Saul has been kept. Red backs out at the last minute and Dale is captured by Budlofsky. While Dale and Saul are waiting to be killed, they reconcile and plan an escape. Korean mobsters attack the barn to avenge their fellow gangster's death, the murder that Dale witnessed. Dale and Saul free themselves but are caught by Matheson (Craig Robinson). Matheson is Budlofsky's assistant and has been working with this entire time. A brawl ensues between the attacking Asians and Ted's forces who retaliate. There are heavy casualties on both sides. Saul takes on Brazier, while Dale combats Ted. Both manage to come out on top, but Matheson has the gun on Saul. Red reappears and drives his car through the barn, killing Matheson and saving Saul, but is shot by Brazier. A mobster sets off a bomb killing Ted and setting fire to the barn. Red's car explodes and lands on Brazier, killing her. Dale carries Saul from the burning barn and Red, wounded but still alive, also escapes and reconciles with them. They talk about their adventure over breakfast at a diner before Saul's grandmother picks them up and takes them to the hospital.

At a Texas high school, Mandy Lane (Amber Heard) is a popular outsider. Fellow student, Dylan, (Adam Powell) invites her to a party at his house and she accepts with the provision that her best friend Emmet (Michael Welch) can attend also. At the party, Dylan and Emmet clash so Emmet goes to sit on the roof overlooking the pool watching Mandy. Dylan joins him and Emmet convinces him to jump from the roof to the pool to get Mandy's attention. Dylan jumps but misses, hitting his head on the edge of the pool and dies. Nine months later, Red (Aaron Himelstein) is having a party at his father's ranch and has invited Mandy along. She obtains permission from her Aunt (Peyton Hayslip) and agrees to go. Following from Dylan's death she now refuses to talk to Emmet. On the way to the ranch, the kids steal a keg from a driver (Robert Earl Keen) at a truck stop. When they arrive at the ranch Chloe (Whitney Able) won't drive her car over the cattle grid and so with a shortage of seats Mandy and Bird (Edwin Hodge) elect to walk to the ranch. While walking they are picked up by Garth (Anson Mount), the ranch hand. Once at the house they begin drinking and playing games. Mandy is the only one to stay sober. After a disparaging remark, Jake (Luke Grimes) walks out, followed by his girlfriend Marlin (Melissa Price). They stop in a cattle shed and, after engaging in oral sex, Jake leaves. Marlin is caught by a stranger and has her jaw broken by a shotgun. While looking for Marlin, Jake discovers her body and is shot by the stranger. Bird, Mandy, Red and Chloe are joined by Garth at the house after a stranger in Red's car fires fireworks at them on the porch. Bird chases the car, believing that Jake is the driver, but he encounters Emmet. During their fight, Emmet blinds Bird by cutting his eyes, chases him and finally stabs him to death. At the ranch, Garth stays over. Mandy falls asleep in the kitchen. Red and Chloe fall asleep on the couch. In the morning as they prepare to leave, Emmet shoots Garth. Red and Chloe escape out the back and run to Chloe's car. On the way they both encounter the bodies of Jake and Marlin. They reach the car and Red is shot as they kiss and, as she runs back to the ranch, Chloe finds the body of Bird. She is chased by Emmet in Red's car who has taken the keys from a dying Red. Meanwhile, Mandy retrieves the keys to Garth's jeep, and the hunting knife Emmet used to kill Bird. She then sees Chloe running towards the ranch, pursued by Emmet. As Chloe runs up to Mandy, she stabs Chloe in the stomach. While Chloe bleeds out, Emmet and Mandy discuss their plan. Emmet has kept a journal giving the reason behind the killings since he and Mandy have previously agreed to a suicide pact. However Mandy refuses to take the pills Emmet gives her. They fight. Garth shoots Emmet who then attacks Garth with a machete. A brief chase ensues and after Mandy falls into a pit of dead animals, Emmet jumps on top of her. They fight until Mandy manages to club him to death with a log. Mandy then returns to a wounded Garth and heads to his truck and they drive off.
