After years of painstaking research at the cost of his domestic pleasure, Dr. Dipankar Roy discovers a vaccine for leprosy. The news is flashed over television and overnight, an insignificant junior doctor receives international recognition. Professional jealousy and abuse of power threaten Dr. Roy, even as the Secretary of Health reprimands him for breaking the news to the press. He is asked to report to the Director of Health. Professional colleagues Dr. Arijit Sen and Dr. Ramananda invite him to a lecture but it is merely a pretence to humiliate him. Dr. Roy suffers a mild heart attack but he refuses to go to the hospital. His wife and few others like Dr. Kundu stand by Dr. Roy, but the harassment continues; a letter from an American foundation is suppressed and Dr. Roy transferred to a remote village. The last straw is two American doctors receiving credit for discovering the same vaccine. Dr. Roy is shattered. —Rajesh Das The movie is one of the finest work of veteran Tapan Sinha. It revolves around the life of Dr. Dipankar Roy who has engrossed himself in researching a cure of a dreaded diseases. During the course, he has already ruined his relationship with his wife due his ignorance. After years of hard work, when he finds a breakthrough in his research, his work is publicized but it attains negative reviews and skepticism from noted doctors, bureaucrats and his peers. It leads to immense dissatisfaction and is driven to a point of insanity due to the exasperating outlook of people around him. Will the work done by the doctor ever attain any recognition or will he be flushed in the vortex of democracy? These questions are answered by the movie with some exemplary performances by Pankaj Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Anil Chatterjee and budding Irrfan Khan. —Utkarsh Srivastava

Himadri's actual plan is to get access to the secret documents of Mr. Sehgal who has an alliance with Mr. Sato. Sato has a chart of the gold treasures dipped under the ocean and Kamakazi, the Japanese Smuggler is after it. Interpol plans to catch Kamakazi through Mr. Sehgal but unfortunately Himadri gets exposed and he is thrown out of the company. In the meantime a businessman gets kidnapped by Kamakazi whose daughter Mari is instructed to seduce Himadri. Helpless Mari agrees in order to save her family. Himadri and Mari, in spite of knowing each other's background story falls in love. After some hard-hitting action, finally Interpol successfully busts kamakazi's racket but the movie ends on a somewgat tragic note as Mari dies in this process and Himadri lives a lonely life.

Ramu, the eldest son of a migrant family to Calcutta, is a recent graduate searching for a job like many others in post-Partition Calcutta, and the survival of all those he cares for could depend on it. Ramu,a fresh graduate is searching for a job like many others in post-Partition Kolkata.He lives in a lower-middle-class neighborhood with his mother, father,and sister. Ramu's sister,Seeta,is dressed up and paraded in front of prospective in-laws who humiliatingly examine her. The mother is painful of older times when the family used to live in a better house, but she bears her suffering quietly, for the most part. The father is myopic and full of cynicism for he does not share the idealistic aspirations of his two children that better times will come. The light of Ramu's life is his girlfriend Uma, who lives in an equally precarious situation with her sister Shephali and her mother. Jatin is an even poorer minor character living near Uma's dwelling who Ramu avoids because he cannot help the former out financially. To make ends meet, Ramu's mother takes in Sagar, a poor chemist, as a paying guest. Ramu does not get a job and cannot pay rent even with the money that he gets from Sagar and is insulted by the landlord. Ultimately the family is evicted. Just before the family has to leave to go stay in slums, Ramu visits Uma and tells him they are moving. Uma offers to help them set up in the new dwelling, an obvious sign of humanism on Ghatak's part. Shephali, her sister, cannot bear to live in poverty any longer, so she leaves home with a shady man.Seeta confesses that she loves Sagar, a love that Sagar reciprocates.However,Sagar, is now rendered homeless and destitute and mentions that he does not have the audacity to expect them to even be united. Ramu overhears parts of Sagar and Uma's conversation and is touched by the moment. He appeals to Sagar for him to come and live with the family. The film ends with the characters walking out in the rain, a symbolic sign of hope and renewal. —Swarup Basak

Girijaprasad Roy came back to his village after a long time. All of his villagers though him as a rich. After few days, everyone came to know about his poor financial condition. His only daughter Bimala was attracted to Block Development Officer Pravakar. Though Girijaprasad was not rich, everybody tried to neglect him and helped him his only brother Girin. He stayed in the same village. Girin was a wealthy person and very clever kind of man. He deprived his elder brother and tried to make relation with Pravakar. On the other hand, Udas Kotal a soft hearted, honest man wanted to learn driving for a better life. He got married to Laxmimoni to learn driving. Laxmimoni's father taught him driving and made him an expert driver. Unfortunately, Laxmimoni had some psychological problem and as a result, she committed suicide. Udas became very upset and after few days, he wanted to get married his childhood friend Padma but Padma refused to get married. Day by day Udas became an alcoholic, characterless bohemian kind of person. One day after a quarrel, When he hears a baseless and incorrect news that Padma was having an affair with the doctor, he comes to murder the doctor with a knife. Set in the contentious 1950s, the film's plot is structured around the rivalry of two radical theatre groups. One is lead by Bhrigu, the other by Shanta. Shanta's niece Anusuya participates in Bhrigu's work to the disapproval of her own group. When the two groups join together for a production, Shanta deliberately sabotages it. Bhrigu and Anusuya both discover they are both refugees separated from their country (Bangladesh) and they fall in love. Meghe Dhaka Tara is a 2013, Bengali movie, directed and written by Kamaleswar Mukherjee. The movie was shot in black and white, except the last scene, which was in colour. The movie follows a struggling artist, Nilkantha, who suffers from depression.
