The third pair is that of Stephanie-Raju pair, she searching for her faithless Indian boyfriend and he the Indian taxi-driver who ferries her around the country. And then there is the Shiven-Gia yuppie marriage fiasco, with the groom with the cold-feet. The fifth story is of the stable married couple - Vinay-Seema, whose 15 year marriage is threatened when the husband wants more than just boring, suburban life. The sixth couple's story is of Isha-Sohail as a rural couple unable to give vent to their passion. A notorious terrorist manipulates an Indian army major's jilted lover into helping him obtain a classified military code. Major Jaidev Rajvansh and his fellow officer Hussein manage to rescue a leading politician as well as capture his kidnapper, Abhrush. The terrorist has been searched for years and he is finally captured by the two officers. Jai returns to a joyous welcome, and is declared a national hero. He takes a break from the army and returns to his hometown. There he meets his childhood friend Anjali who has always harboured love for Jai. Anjali is determined to make sure she and Jai stay together 24/7. At a party, he meets Miss India, Pooja Mallapa. As they spend more time together, he begins to love her and she too begins to love him. In the mean time, Jai's parents are arranging his marriage to Anjali but when they find out about Jai's love for Pooja, they realise that they have to tell Anjali everything. Anjali, heartbroken and jealous swears revenge on Jai for rejecting her. Realising her hatred for him. Abrush takes advantage and together they plot to destroy Jai's reputation and life. Anjali manages to steal some important documents regarding Abrush's plans. The events following leads to Jai being dismissed from the army and he is declared a traitor to the country. Inspired by the Telugu film, "Pelli Chuskundam," the plot follows the life of a rape victim (Aishwarya Rai). Now, a disgrace to her family, she is turned away from her house after the sexual assault. But she finds shelter in the character played by Anil Kapoor. —Gonz30 Naive yet bold and daring, Preeti Virat, comes forward as a witness to heinous assault carried by Bhavani Choudhry and his men on a person who owes them money. Bhavani is arrested and held for trial. This angers the Choudhry family. The victim is threatened with dire consequences, and he withdraws the complaint, and as a result Bhavani is released and all charges are dropped. Preeti is then raped by one of the Choudhry men, and subsequently her very own family disowns her. She finds shelter with another do-gooder, Avinash, who even takes her to his apartment. But the story does not end here, for the neighborhood is soon in an uproar over her, and want her to leave. The only solution is that Preeti marry Avinash, she agrees to do so, and then finds out that there is two children who called Avinash "daddy", and she does not know if there is another woman or even a wife involved. Ghajraj's son, Dharamraj takes over from his dad, meting out fair and honest decisions amongst the townspeople. He arranges the marriage of his younger brother, Arjun, with Meena, the daughter of Ramsingh Thakur. A shadow is cast on the family when Arjun is accused of having illicit relationships with a school-teacher. This teacher eventually commits suicide and blames Arjun in her suicide note. Later, Raja and Ghafoor bump off the inspector and run away with the loot to Bombay. At Bombay airport, Raja sets eyes on Dr Neha and promptly falls in love with the psychiatrist, for that's what she is. Raja and Ghafoor quickly find out where she lives. Ghafoor pretends to be a psychiatric patient while Raja takes on the name Raj Kumar and befriends her, telling her he has just returned from the US. However, Ghafoor cautions Raja not to hurry and be patient in matters of love. The trouble begins when Bunnu, the son of a wealthy businessman, is sent to Neha for treatment. He is really crazy, and terrified of fire, heights, running and water. Soon, he too falls for Neha and discovers he has a rival in Raja. Suddenly, Neha has to leave for Ooty with her father to attend her uncle's wedding. She does not leave behind a forwarding address. However, both Raja and Bunnu impersonate policemen and intimidate her secretary into revealing where she's vamoosed. Dr Neha is thrilled to see them in Ooty, but is drawn closer to the ill Bunnu rather than Raja. Things take an ugly turn when Ghafoor tires to kill Bunnu, who escapes. Bunnu contacts contract killer Pappu Pager to bump off Raja. However, that plan too comes a cropper. Armed with a gold ring and garland, Neha calls Bunnu and Raja to court, ostensibly with the purpose of marriage. After completing his studies in London, Shakti Thakur returns to his ancestral village in India, accompanied by his girlfriend, Anita, whom he is in love with and wants to marry, much to the disapproval of his family. Shakti harbors ambitions of opening a chain of fast-food restaurants, a vision that contrasts sharply with his family's traditional values and expectations. Back in the village, Shakti quickly becomes disillusioned by the stagnant atmosphere and the deep-rooted animosity that still plagues the townspeople. He informs his father, the zamindar Raja Thakur, that he intends to sell his share of the family's property to fund his business venture. Raja Thakur, who raised Shakti as a single parent after his mother died when Shakti was just a year old, pleads with his son to stay in the village and use his education for the betterment of the community. He emphasizes that "a man gets an education not to become a selfish being but to uplift his uneducated brothers and society." However, Shakti, frustrated by the ongoing feud between his father and his uncle, Zamindar Birju, and the behavior of his older brother, a perpetual drunk and an embarrassment to the family, decides to leave. The village is deeply affected by the longstanding feud between Raja Thakur and his younger brother Birju, a disabled man whose son, Bali Thakur, holds a deep grudge against Raja Thakur. This rivalry, fueled by Bali Thakur's desire to one-up his uncle, keeps the village divided and stifles its progress. While spending time in the village, Shakti engages in a game of sticks (a traditional Indian sport) with Bali Thakur's men, which he wins, further aggravating the tension between the two factions. During a visit to an old temple that had been closed off due to a longstanding dispute between Raja Thakur and Birju Thakur over who had rights to it, Shakti insists on entering, and his friend and servant Sukhiya breaks open the lock. Bali Thakur hears of this and incites a brutal riot between the two village factions. Raja Thakur, desperate to prevent further bloodshed, considers apologizing, but Shakti insists that he or Sukhiya should apologize instead. However, when Shakti looks for Sukhiya, he learns that Bali Thakur's men have cut off Sukhiya's hand as punishment for opening the temple, leading Raja Thakur's men to retaliate by burning down the homes of Bali Thakur's supporters. Frustrated by the lack of justice after Sukhiya's arm is cut off, Shakti confronts the head police officer about why they are not taking action. The officer explains that the villagers refuse to come forward as witnesses to such violent acts, making it difficult for the police to intervene. Despite this setback, the police officer becomes supportive of Shakti. To prevent the situation from escalating further, Shakti enlists the help of a government official friend to legally open the temple for all, with his father's reluctant approval. Offended by this move, Bali Thakur retaliates by hiring goons to destroy a dam that protects Raja Thakur's side of the village. A female villager notices the goons near the dam but does not think much of it at the time. The dam is subsequently destroyed with explosives, leading to a devastating flood that kills many villagers, including infants, leaving Shakti deeply grieved The same female villager, whose son died in the flood, angrily recognizes one of the goons in the village. She confronts him, leading Shakti to capture the goon and hand him over to the police. However, the goon, out of fear for his family's safety, refuses to implicate Bali Thakur in the crime. Later, Bali Thakur intimidates Narayan, a villager living in Raja Thakur's area, into closing off a portion of his land, making it difficult for the public to reach the main road. This action was done at the suggestion of Bali's lawyer, further complicating the ongoing conflict. In a village panchayat called to resolve the issue, accusations fly from both sides. Without any evidence, Bali Thakur accuses Raja Thakur of orchestrating attacks on his brother's family and insults him relentlessly. Disrespected and heartbroken, Raja Thakur returns home and dies from a heart attack that night. During the funeral, Birju Thakur grieves the death of his brother, while Bali Thakur reacts with cold indifference and annoyance. Shakti, now burdened with the role of the village head, reluctantly takes on his father's duties. After becoming the village head, Shakti makes his older brother swear to stop drinking, and his brother agrees. However, Bali Thakur's men, under the influence of Bali's lawyer, try to get Shakti's brother drunk again to manipulate him into signing away the village's property deed, but Shakti intervenes just in time to prevent the betrayal. As time passes, the villagers express concerns about the land that has been closed off, leading to longer travel times. Shakti successfully convinces Narayan to open the land by arranging a marriage between Narayan's daughter, Gehna, and a well-to-do man from the village and the police agree to provide protection to stop Bali men interfering. However, on the wedding day, the groom flees in fear of Bali Thakur. Distraught and feeling dishonored, Narayan believes his daughter will be stigmatized and live in constant fear. Shakti steps in and marries Gehna himself, despite still having feelings for Anita. Although their marriage begins awkwardly, Shakti and Gehna gradually move on. When Anita returns and learns the truth, she is left heartbroken. Although saddened by the turn of events, she understands the situation and leaves. Shakti, too, closes the chapter about his girlfriend and starts his new life with his wife Bali Thakur, enraged by the series of events-including the opening of the land, Shakti stopping him from tricking his older brother into signing over the family land, and the village panchayat's decision to honor Shakti's family with the right to host the village festival for reopening the temple-plots a final act of vengeance. Despite Shakti's kind offer to let Bali oversee the festival, Bali refuses, threatening to cut off Shakti's head, further escalating tensions. Bali then devises a plan to plant a bomb at the festival, determined to exact revenge. Bali's parents, Birju and his mother, become aware of his plot and, horrified, try to stop him. They attempt to call the police, but Bali, in his blind rage, imprisons them. Birju pleads with his son to end the violence, but his pleas fall on deaf ears. Bali's mother manages to escape and runs to the festival to warn Shakti of the bomb, but she arrives too late, and the bomb explodes, resulting in multiple deaths. In the aftermath of the explosion, a furious Shakti searches for Bali at his home. He finds a devastated and remorseful Birju, who does not know where Bali is hiding but Birju does not know, Shakti decides to help Birju and his innocent family by bringing them to his home, however both factions of the village, wanting revenge, go after Bali Thakur and his family. Shakti protects the innocent family and convinces the villagers to leave. Appreciative of Shakti's efforts to protect them, Birju Thakur finally ends his enmity towards him. Meanwhile, the police launch a manhunt for Bali in connection with the bombing. The next day, Shakti notices Bali's mother walking into the chicken coop area on his property and realizes that Bali is hiding there. Shakti follows her and confronts Bali, who is hiding inside. Bali's mother begs him to flee and escape the consequences of his actions, but Bali, consumed by his hatred for Shakti, refuses. When his mother tries to stop him from attacking Shakti, Bali spits in her face and kicks her in the stomach. Enraged by this, Shakti attacks and overpowers Bali, but ultimately spares his life, urging him to surrender to the police. However, Bali refuses to give up his vendetta and tries to attack Shakti again. He flees to an area filled with statues and idols, where the two engage in a final, intense battle with weapons. In the struggle, Shakti decapitates Bali with an axe, an act that leaves him devastated as he realizes that Bali has forced him to unleash his dark side. Although other villagers are willing to take the blame for Bali Thakur's murder, Shakti gives himself up to the police to end the cycle of violence once and for all. The film depicts the true meaning of education as "a tool to uplift uneducated people".

Laadla (The Beloved Son) is the story of Raju (Anil Kapoor) who lives with his disabled mother Gayatri (Farida Jalal). Raju is a dock worker who always looks out for the welfare and interests of his colleagues and saves them from frauds who are after their hard-earned money. Sheetal is the daughter of businessman Laxminarayan. She runs the company and the factory with an iron hand. Kaajal is her assistant. Sheetal admonishes her staff for being 5 minutes late to their job. Tilak Bhandari (Shakti Kapoor) is the production manager whom she often slaps and insults for trivial issues like production dropping from 50 tons to 49 tons for one day due to 5 workers being on holiday. Sheetal has studied in London and is responsible for turning around a financially sick enterprise into a profit-making machine. It is now the best factory in the entire country. Laxminarayan wants to get Sheetal married but she has already rejected every match that came her way. Laxminarayan is worried that there is no man who can reign in Sheetal. Banobi (Aruna Irani) is the house maid at Laxminarayan's house and has seen Sheetal grow up over the years. Sheetal's competitive attitude and open insults result in her making several enemies in her industry. This includes her immediate rival Suryadev, and his brother Hiravat Bajaj (Paresh Rawal), Suryadev's son Vikram "Vicky" Bajaj (Mohnish Behl) among others. Suryadev was sick of losing contracts to Sheetal, so Hiravat suggests to get Sheetal married to Vikram and this way they would get control over Sheetal's factory. When they bring the marriage proposal home, Sheetal insults Suryadev and Vikram for even thinking about this match. Raju decides to give up his docks job and shift to Bombay to take care of his mother. He needs to find a new job to support his mother. One day Raju on his way to a job interview saves the life of a rich textile mill owner Laxminarayan Jetley (Anupam Kher). The goons were sent by Hiravat to extract their revenge on Sheetal, but Raju intervenes and saves Laxminarayan by taking him to the hospital. Turns out Raju's interview was at Sheetal Industries. Laxminarayan tells Raju to visit the company which is run by his ambitious daughter Sheetal (Sridevi) and says that he will get a job. Previously, Raju ran into Sheetal at the airport and Sheetal believes that he bumped into her on purpose. Sheetal and Raju exchanged insults, and Sheetal already makes her mind about Raju. When Raju arrives at Sheetal's office for his interview, they both recognize each other from the airport. Sheetal throws Raju out of her office. Raju goes back to Laxminarayan who reveals that he is Sheetal's father and the owner of the company. Laxminarayan asks Raju to return to the office and promises that this time he will get a job. Meanwhile Tilak Bhandari joins hands with Suryadev and Hiravat and plots Sheetal's downfall. Suryadev bribes Bhandari to cause accidents inside Sheetal's factory to malign its reputation. Raju gets a job as a mechanic in the mill at a salary of Rs 3200 per month. Raju confronts Sheetal several times to get the workers proper treatment. One time Raju uses Sheetal's car to transport an injured worker to the hospital. Due to Raju's timely action, the worker's arm is saved from being amputated. Sheetal fires Raju but all the mill workers threaten a strike as they believe what Raju did is fair. Sheetal is livid and sets fire to her car as it was covered in blood. Raju's fairness for workers results in him being elected as the union leader. Raju meets Kaajal (Raveena Tandon), who also works in the company, and they fall in love. One day, Raju saves Sheetal's life during an attempt by a competing textile mill owner Suryadev (Prem Chopra) to eliminate her. Raju saves her by pushing her out of the way of an oncoming crane. Though he saves her, Sheetal enrages as Raju touches her and slaps him in front of all workers. Later Raju goes to Sheetal's cabin and slaps her for five times with a cause for each time. Sheetal cannot fire Raju as then she has to tell all of her workmen she was slapped by Raju. For taking revenge, Sheetal wants to win over Raju and makes an offer to marry him. When Raju turns her down, she forces his mom to agree to the marriage. Raju accepts his mom's wishes and decides to sacrifice his love for Kaajal. Sheetal expects Raju to move in with her after their marriage and live in luxury, but Raju refuses and continues to work in the mill. Raju starts to live in Sheetal's house upon her mother's order though he continues his job as a mechanic in mill which is now his own. Raju starts to recognize Sheetal as his wife and starts loving her. Raju also saves Sheetal again when some henchmen of Suryadev try to kill her. When Sheetal thanks Raju for saving her, Raju tells her that he also saves her maid servant also if she is fallen in this kind of situation. Tension arises between Raju and Sheetal, when she fires Kajaal out of jealousy as Sheetal sees Kajaal to visit Raju's house frequently, though Kajaal goes there to take care of Raju's lonely mother only. When labor issues cause the workers to go on strike. The competing mill owner plans to take advantage of the situation and hires goons to set the mill on fire. Raju in his attempt to stop the fire is mistakenly arrested. Raju's mom goes to Sheetal's house to clear matters but is insulted and taunted by Sheetal, and collapses, until Raju arrives to save his mother and slaps Sheetal for taking it out on his mother and breaks his ties with her. A guilty Sheetal who truly is in love with Raju decides to kill herself until the rival mill owners kidnap and decide to kill her themselves, until Raju arrives to save her life. Also, she becomes a good wife to Raju and both of them lives happily ever after with each other love in Raju's house. Sheetal improves herself. Kajal turns managing director of her company, as Sheetal quits her job.

Jagmohan Laal aka Jugran (Anupam Kher) is a crime lord who wants to climb up the crime ladder. When Customs Officer Verma (Dalip Tahil) tries to arrest him, he escapes. To save his skin, Jugran kills his twin brother Manmohan (Jugran had hid at Manmohan's house, but Manmohan tried to inform the police) and takes his identity. The world is led to believe that Jugran is still on the run. Jugran kills Mr. Verma and Dr. Ashok (the guy who helped hide the diamonds in the plaster of his hand to help smuggle them across customs), destroying both their families in process. While Verma's orphaned sons Ramesh (Anil Kapoor) and Ravi (Jackie Shroff) are separated from each other, Dr. Ashok's daughter Seema (Sridevi) is left with her distraught mother, who has lost her sanity. Before dying Mr. Verma identified his killer as Jugran to the police. Uncle D'Souza (Akash Khurana) of Seema, had seen the killer entering Dr Ashok's office just before he entered his clinic and hence could identify the killer in a line-up. Ravi was brought up by his mother, while Ramesh found his way to an orphanage. Seema/Simmi is at the same orphanage. Seema and Ramesh become good friends, but Seema is adopted while she is a child and is separated from Ramesh. Ramesh loves Simmi and runs from the orphanage. He is found by Girdharilal on the streets, and is given a new name, Romeo. Romeo is now working for Seth Girdharilal (Paresh Rawal), who mentors many thieves and thugs like him. Many years later, Jugran has become a big name in the criminal underworld. He lives a double life, acting also as his twin brother Manmohan, who is highly respected in society. Ravi Verma, meanwhile, has become an Inspector and Ramesh has become a crook - a safe-cracker by the name of Romeo. The brothers are unaware of each other's identities, but there is one things that binds them together: one has a lock, the other has the only key that can open the lock. Seema too has become a crook, called Simmi, and her path starts crossing with Romeo's. Seema steals diamonds as she wants to find the man who killed her father for the sake of diamonds. They both want to steal the necklace from Maharani Yashudhara Devi (Bindu). Ravi is tasked by his commanding officers to find and apprehend the jewel thief. Seema manages to steal the necklace first but is trapped when Ravi seals the exits from the party. Romeo helps her out by getting the necklace out via his pet pigeon. But later, when Seema wants 50-50 share, he refuses. Seema tries to outfox Ramesh by creating a public ruckus that she is his wife, and he is selling her last jewels. Ramesh outfoxes her by saying that she has not consummated their marriage even after 2 years. Seema runs away. She gets one up on Ramesh by stealing a jeweled statue which Ramesh wanted to steal. Only Ravi knows that Jugran killed his father. One day Seema runs into "Manmohan" and realizes that it was he who had killed her father. Jugran himself needs somebody to pull a Rs 100 Crore robbery (a train with Rs 100 Crores of diamonds travels from Kohinoor diamonds company, and on its way to Bombay it passes through an isolated stretch for 15 mins. Jugran plans to stage a robbery then). Seema meets "Manmohan", when she hides in his car after she is running away from some creditors. While reciting her life story, "Manmohan" realizes that she is Dr Ashok's daughter. Next, He meets Seema (as Jugran) and tells her that he will need her help to involve Romeo in the operation. Simmi hesitates, until Jugran reveals that he knows the identity of her father's murderer. She meets Romeo and tries to seduce him, but Romeo berates her. Simmi reveals her story to him. Romeo is surprised to see Simmi's mother, since it means that Simmi is actually his childhood sweetheart Seema. Now he reveals his true identity to Seema, and the two pair up. Jugran tells them that first they need to open the safe of the GM of the Kohinoor diamond company as only there they can find when the diamond train is scheduled to travel next month. Ramesh cracks the safe while Seema keeps the audience engaged with her dance at the GM's party. Jugran kidnaps the family of D'Souza, whom Seema is in touch with, to ensure that even by mistake D'Souza does not identify Manmohan/Jugran as her father's killer. Later Jugran gets D'Souza killed in a car accident. Meanwhile, Ravi too gets an inkling that Jugran is planning something big with help of Simmi and Romeo. Ravi and Romeo run into each other, only for Romeo to learn that they are brothers (Ravi had the lock to which Romeo had the key). But he doesn't reveal this to Ravi, since Ravi is a policeman and against criminals. Romeo refuses to loot the train (his pet pigeon scratches Jugran's hand and stop him from shooting at Romeo) but is forced to support Seema. Meanwhile Girdharilal gets annoyed that Ramesh is stealing for someone else and informs police/Ravi. Ramesh steals the diamonds, but Ravi attacks. Jugran's men also attack Ramesh, but he evades them and reunites with Seema. They are confronted by Girdharilal, who wants the diamonds, but Jugran's men kill him. Simmi and Romeo finally succeed in turning over the loot to Jugran. After they do this, he binds and gags them after telling Simmi the truth, leaving the pair to die by falling into a container of boiling acid (they are tied up by a rope, which is slowly dissolved by acid). They are saved by Romeo's pet pigeon who manages to throw a ladder in their way which they catch when they fall into the well of acid. . Romeo and Simmi escape, but they get separated from each other. Romeo runs into Ravi, whereupon the latter tries to arrest him. After Romeo tells him the truth, an enraged Ravi reveals to Ramesh that Jugran killed their father too. Ramesh escapes and rejoins Simmi. When he sees "Manmohan" on TV, Ramesh tells Seema that Manmohan and Jugran are the same person. They head to a party that Manmohan is attending. Meanwhile, Ravi gets a tip-off, upon which he turns up at a party almost simultaneously with Ramesh and Seema. Ramesh reveals that when his pigeon perched on Jugran's left hand it left claw marks, just as seen on Manmohan's left hand. Therefore, Manmohan and Jugran are same person. Ravi scoffs at the claim and tells them that Manmohan's fingerprints are available, and it won't be difficult to find out that Manmohan and Jugran are indeed two different people. Seeing that his charade is about to come to an abrupt end, Jugran tries to run away. It is revealed that Ramesh had given the tip-off about Jugran to Ravi. Jugran succeeds in escaping, while his men try to kill Ravi, Ramesh and Seema. The three manage to fight their way to Jugran, who himself tries to shoot them. The trio quickly retaliate, killing him on spot.

Twin brothers are separated at birth and in adulthood, their identities are swapped. Leela and Bholaram are a childless couple. Leela works as a midwife, and one day assists Sunderdas' wife to give birth to twin boys. She decides to keep one baby for herself, and tells Sunderdas that his wife has given birth to one child. There are complications for the mother, and she passes away without seeing her children. Leela and Bholaram bring up Kanhaiya, while Sunderdas attempts to bring up Kishen, but is unable to do a good job. So he marries Kamini, who comes along with her brother, Ghendamal, to live at the estate. She has an illegitimate child named Ramesh from another man, and when Sunderdas comes to know of this, he is threatened and attacked, and as a result of which p is paralyzed, unable to move. Kishen is brought by Kamini and Ghendamal with lot of abuse, and intimidation, and is kept illiterate, so that he can blindly sign away whatever documents he is asked to sign. Kishen likes Radha, a servant, and is married, but the atrocities do not stop, and then Kishen runs away. In need of a child, Leela and Bolaram decide to adopt one of the twins and thus name him Kanhaiya and bring him up in a poor environment. Seth Sundardas attempts to bring up Kishen but is unable to do a good job since the child falls short of nourishing, so he decides to re-marry a woman named Kamini the sister of cunning Gendamal. Kamini have an illegitimate child, Mahesh, of whom she brings to live at Seth's estate. Seth disapprove of keeping Mahesh and subsequently meets with an accident and is paralyzed unable to move his legs, arms and cannot talk and therefore is kept bed ridden. Taking advantage of the situation, Gendamal schemes with Kamini to grab Seth's estate and parental property and brings up his son, Kishen with a lot of abuse and lack of ancestry so that he can blindly sign away any documents present before him but Kishen refuses to endorse the document and is badly beaten and left for dead. When Usha's mom, Annapurnadevi (Sushma Seth) comes to know of this romance, she instructs Usha not to step out of the house without her permission, and forbids her to see Anand ever again. When Anand persists, Annapurna relents and tells them that she will arrange their marriage, but instead she forces Usha to marry the son of N.N. Shukla (Ramesh Deo). When Anand finds out he is devastated, and finds solace in the company of his boss's daughter, Shobha (Anita Raj).
