Vasudev Shastri (Utkarsh Sharma) is a topper yet charming man who comes into IIT where the second ranker, Nandini (Ishitha Chauhan), decides to make his life hell. But Vasu is smart and in love with her to be outmaneuvered. She constantly detests him, but Vasu outsmarts her every time. Besides being the friendly "genius" around campus, he secretly uses his hacking talent working part time for RAW (Research and Analysis Wing). The day before the final exam in IIT, Nandini reluctantly visits Vasudev to get help regarding a theorem. There, Vasudev admits to Nandini that he had been long in love with her. Hearing this, Nandini immediately hatches a cunning plan and gives Vasudev sleeping pills so that he is unable to attend the exam the next day. However, Vasudev outsmarts her this time as well and reaches the exam hall before her. Vasu doesn't at all seem angry with her and instead helps her with an unexpected glitch and walks away smiling after completing his paper. On the day of the results, Nandini learns that Vasudev had intentionally submitted a blank paper just to let her top. Seeing his dedication towards love, Nandini madly falls in love with him but doesn't reveal it and flies off to the US for her dream job. On the other hand, senior members of RAW, impressed by Vasudev's intelligence, try to convince him to join RAW. After learning that his parents were killed in communal riots planned by ISI of Pakistan, Vasu finally decides to join RAW to take revenge against ISI. Vasu was orphaned when his parents were killed in communal riots. He was found by a priest who raised him in a temple complex in Mathura. The life-positive Vasu is the one we see in flashback. In the present, Vasu dresses in all-black, is labeled incompetent by RAW, uses a walking stick and suffers from acute tinnitus and several injuries since his failed mission. This troubled, damaged Vasu is the one who survived multiple bullet wounds during a high-level mission. Special agent Vasu heads a division of RAW called TOCSI, which was tracking public enemy number one, simply referred to as MRS / Samar Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). It is also shown that in the past Samar had offered Vasu to join him, since he predicted that Vasu (a genius) will never be accepted in a society of moderates. Vasu had first encountered MRS when NSA Chief Devraj called him to stop a hack on India's NSA's networks from MRS. Vasu plants a virus to render MRS ineffective at that time. Devraj then convinces Vasu to join NSA by telling him that his parents died in an attack by ISIS and in NSA he can stop further such attacks. Vasu proves that MRS is the head of ISIS in India and had orchestrated an arms robbery in a depot, by hiding it as a short circuit led fire. Devraj assigns him a high-power team to investigate further. The team gets to Porbandar where they have intel that an arms exchange will take place. But they soon find that it was a setup by MRS, who corners the whole team and shoots them down. Vasu luckily is not killed. MRS indicates that Vasu was betrayed. NSA Chief Devraj Mathur (Mithun Chakraborty) backs Vasu fully despite his injuries. Vasu has a severe ear injury and has to wear an earpiece otherwise he is rendered incapacitated due to acute Tinnitus. Devraj calls Nandini back to care for Vasu. Nandini had taken a break from her job to return to India and take care of Vasu. She takes Vasudev to her house in Puducherry, where her mother is pleasantly surprised to see Nandini (who had never valued personal relationships before her career) make huge sacrifices for Vasudev's welfare. Vasudev and Nandini spend some romantic moments, but their happiness is short lived as Vasudev starts having hallucinations about his failed mission. A confused Nandini tries to take Vasudev to the US for treatment. Vasudev refuses and narrates the tragic story of his failed mission to Nandini, after which he leaves to track MRS, the mastermind of ISI in India and the prime target of his failed mission. They go for a vacation where Vasu thinks he saw his ex-team member Rubina (Malti Chahar), who was supposed to have been killed in the last encounter with Samar. Vasu follows Rubina and finds that almost all his team members from the MRS mission are gathered and want to support him to complete the mission. Vasu starts by removing the NSA tracker in his body and returns to Porbandar. He neutralizes 3 ISIS sleeper cell members who had been tracking his every move. He then tracks down the NSA mole who is working for MRS and forces him to commit suicide. MRS invites Nandini to a party and then sets up bombs. He knows that Vasu will be protecting Nandini. So, now Vasu has to figure out a way to save Nandini and all the people in the party. Doing so, exposes Vasu and he is arrested by NSA agents, who have been looking for him ever since he removed the tracker from his body. Devraj figures that Vasu has been hallucinating that he was working with his dead team members to track MRS. Vasu is subjected to electric shocks. MRS tracks Vasu to the hospital and kidnaps Nandini. MRS reveals that he understood Vasu's plan to declare himself a mental patient, so that he could exit his NSA life and be with Nandini, but MRS won't allow that and takes Nandini with him. MRS goes to Mathura and creates a panic situation by tying bombs on Nandini. To track her down, Vasu deploys a large force, which takes away security from the rest of Mathura. Vasu realizes that the bomb on Nandini is fake and MRS has used the distraction to plant bombs all over Mathura. MRS demands that Vasu hits Devraj on the face with sandals in public, but Vasu refuses to insult the NSA on live TV and challenges MRS. He tracks down MRS and duels with him before he can activate the bombs. MRS is arrested and tries to blow himself up. It is revealed that before Vasu he was the genius who worked for the NSA, but Devraj sacked him one day after humiliating him, when MRS hacked the NSA servers. Since then, MRS had teamed with ISIS to humiliate India.

The movie focusses on relationships between men and women and how partners flit from one person to another to find what they`re looking for. Irrfan Khan, Rahul Bose, Konkona Sen Sharma and Soha Ali Khan play the philandering roles in this adults-only movie.

Major General Amarjeet Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) is a dedicated officer for the Indian army. His son Lieutenant Commander Vikramjeet Singh (Bobby Deol) follows in his footsteps and joins the navy. In 1971 during the Indo-Pak war and the formation of Bangladesh, Vikramjeet has a ship in his command and was carrying a regiment of soldiers of the Indian Army, commandeered by his dad, Major General Amarjeet. Amarjeet had been ordered to enter East Pakistan to stop the slaughter of innocent civilians at the hands of the Pakistani military forces. It was Shiekh Mujibur Rehman, who had requested the Indian Government led by Indira Gandhi to intervene and help save lives. The ship comes under attack by a submarine of the Pakistani Navy and is damaged beyond salvage by torpedoes. Vikram decides to hunt for the submarine, so that it cannot target the remaining ships in their convoy. Eventually, Vikram is successful in destroying the enemy submarine with depth charges, but his ship sinks along with Vikramjeet, but not before he courageously rescues about a hundred of trapped army soldiers, who were stuck in a passage as the exits were jammed shut. Due to Vikram's sacrifice, the Indian army led by Amarjeet reaches East Pakistan and starts pushing the Pakistani army back. Due to the fast attack from Indian Army on all fronts, the Pakistani army surrenders. Amarjeet returns home where Vikram is survived by his wife and a young son. Years later, Vikramjeet's son Kunaljeet (Bobby Deol) joins the army as a Captain, but he lacks the values his dad and grandfather had in them about serving the country selflessly. He just wants to be employed with the army for a couple of years, then re-locate to the U.S., run a business, and make lots of money. In order to accomplish this, he always makes up excuses of not going to the front. Kunal also cheats to win races or other competitions with his colleagues and has no qualms about it. Dr Sakshi (Sandali Sinha) has feelings for Kunal & tries to be close to him, but he simply ignores her. Sakshi knows that Kunal cheats and is not serious about his army career but keeps quiet due to her love for him. Kunal and his unit are posted in Rajasthan. Kunal is a prankster at heart, but always gets away due to his charm and due to the forgiving nature of his friends who consider his antics as harmless fun. Amarjeet is now retired from the army, but the Government uses his services as a special security advisor in Kashmir to manage the escalating tensions on the ground. Kunal falls in love with Shweta Bhansali (Divya Khosla) and decides to stay in the army in order to be close to her. while Kunal has strong feelings for Shweta, but she does not reciprocate them for Kunal. Shweta reveals that she is the virgin widow of Major Rajeev Singh, who departed for the front on their wedding night, never to return. Rajeev was deployed to the Kargil sector and selflessly sacrificed himself to save his troops from a Pakistani assault & was presumed dead. Kunal still wants to marry Shweta & even her family advises her to do so as Kunal is from a good family. Shweta reluctantly accepts, just as Kunal leaves for Kargil. In Kargil, Kunal is ordered to fight with his company to regain occupation of an important hill. The company attacks but leads to heavy losses. Kunal sees a lot of his friends being gunned down by enemy fire as he remains hidden. He is the last man standing & carries the flag to the summit. He is awarded the Sena medal, but Kunal cannot live down the shame that he acted like a coward & several of his dead comrades were more deserving of the medal. He tells the truth to Amarjeet who is deeply disappointed at this selfish behavior of Kunal. Meanwhile, Major Rajeev Singh (Akshay Kumar), who is assumed to be dead but actually is a prisoner of war. He was captured by Pakistani Col Ashfaque Khan (Danny Denzongpa), who tortures Rajeev endlessly to get crucial information on the Kargil war. Rajeev returns back alive after he challenges Ashfaque to hand-to-hand combat & beats him & then escapes from captivity with his fellow prisoners, with the help from a Pakistani army sympathizer. Upon return, Rajeev takes Shweta home & finds out about Kunal's feelings for Shweta, through a letter that he had written to her in the past. By chance, Kunal is assigned to protect the Amarnath shrine route, under Major Rajeev Singh. In order to achieve a medal, Kunal fakes heroism, then carelessly jeopardizes a planned attack on terrorists and as a result several terrorist escape to their hideouts. Disciplined and chastised, an injured and humbled Kunaljeet awaits to meet his sweetheart - only to find out that she is in love and married to his senior Officer Major Rajeev Singh. The only thread binding Kunal to the army is broken when he finds that Shweta is with Rajeev now. Kunal is heartbroken & confines himself to the field hospital & refuses to take part in combat at the front lines. On the front Amarjeet is working with Rajeev to secure the religious pilgrimage route. It is then Kunaljeet finds out that the terrorists in collusion with rebel Pakistani officers are planning to bomb the Bhagwan Shivji's Amarnath Temple in Jammu & Kashmir in order to ferment communal strife. Due to the breakdown in communication, he is unable to get the message to Rajeev, so Kunal sets off himself to warn Rajeev & Amarjeet. Kunal finds that the terrorists are using a particular horse to get RDX inside the shrine & blow it up. Amarjeet & Rajeev, also figure this out but too late. Kunal reaches just in time to apprehend the RDX from the horse & throws it away from the crowd, where is explodes harmlessly. Kunal is about to die but is saved by his grandfather & all of them fight together to defeat the terrorists. Kunal goes with Dr Sakshi, as he has no other choice.

Amongst the communal riots that erupt in the city, Tara shelters a wayward Sakina from a crazed mob. The two eventually get married and have a son. However, things change when Sakina`s father forces her to stay in Pakistan, forget about her family and start a new life. Tara crosses the border into Pakistan to find Sakina.

Surjit`s (Anil Dhawan) sister is in love with Thakur`s brother, Manjit Singh. He goes to Thakur to seek permission for the marriage. Thakur humiliates him and then asks him to go and start the wedding preparations. Next day, Thakur visits Surjit and kills him and his wife. Surjit`s last wish is to get his sons, Aju (Ajay Devgan) and Kishan (Arshad Warsi), married to Thakur and his brother`s daughters Meena (Shabana Raza) and Preeti (Mayuri Kango). The rest is how the brothers fulfill their father`s last wish.

Kohinoor is 5 yrs old, and has the ability to speak to animals. He lives with his mother (Aparajita Bhushan) and dad Devkaran (Ishrat Ali) (the Maharaja of the kingdom). Hanuman Baba (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) is a confidant of the King and has witnessed Kohinoor's unique powers. Devkaran is working to convert the Kingdom's vasts lands into a designated sanctuary for wild animals. Ranbir Singh (Salim Ghouse) & his wife (Kunika) want to exploit the natural forests for the wood and the antlers of deer, and growing opium. Ranbir is the manager of the Kingdom's vast estates and plans to take possession of the whole Kingdom, by marrying Devkaran's sister and pressing his claim to the Kingdom. Suryamani (Prem Chopra) is the cousin brother of Kohinoor's mom. Amina Bi (Aruna Irani) is Kohinoor's nanny. Ali (Raj Babbar) & Aslam are Amina's own sons. A fortune teller, who is also Ranbir's mother (Shashikala) tells Ranbir that Kohinoor will be his death. Fearing his death, Ranbir Singh (Salim Ghouse) decides to kill Kohinoor when he is a child. Ranbir attacks the palace in collusion with Suryamani. Ranbir kills his wife, Devkaran, his wife and his 2 daughters. Amina escapes with Kohinoor and Ali, sacrificing her other son Aslam (by making him pose like Kohinoor, whom Ranbir kills) Amina hands over Kohinoor to Hanuman Baba, and promises to send Ali 20 yrs later to take Kohinoor back to the Kingdom. But Amina is captured and tortured for 20 yrs by Ranbir. Ali grows up to be a resistance fighter against Ranbir's plan to grow opium in the cleared forest lands. Meanwhile Kohinoor grows up in the jungle and uses his powers to protect animals against poachers and hunters. Hanuman Baba protects Kohinoor's magical powers from being exposed to the outside world. Shaili Mathur (Manisha Koirala) is a reporter and runs a segment on people with unique abilities in India. Bhalu Prasad Bihari Orey (Shakti Kapoor) is her future fiance and the son of the owner of the channel. Shaili is ordered to track down the story on Kohinoor and verify its facts and bring it in front of the people. At the railway station, Shaili runs into Ali, who says that he is also headed to the Madhuban jungle to meet Kohinoor. Shaili gets Ali arrested for entering the wrong class of carriage (first class when he had a general ticket) Shaili heads to a village fair where all young men from the neighboring areas arrive in the hope to meet their life partner. She hopes that Kohinoor might also be there. Kohinoor indeed comes and falls in love with Shaili. He wants to marry Shaili, but she is offended that an uneducated villager wants to marry her. a policeman tries to fraud Shaili of Rs 5000 by passing off a random guy as Kohinoor and Shaili thinks the story has no merit. But there is no train till the next day. They decide to spend the time in a jungle safari. They are attacked by a herd of elephants, who end up overturning their jeep. Kohinoor arrives in time and saves them. Shalini decides to play a damsel in distress to seduce Kohinoor. Shalini says she loves him, since he saved her life. Kohinoor reciprocates the love when Shalini confirms that Orey is not her fiance.. Kohinoor introduces Shaili to Hanuman Baba, who advises Kohinoor against marrying this girl from the city. The news of Kohinoor's find reaches the papers and Ali rushes to Madhuban to stop him before he leaves with Shaili. But before he can get there, Kohinoor leaves with Shaili for the city. Ali meets Hanuman Baba, who sends Ali after Kohinoor to the city. Ali and Hanuman Baba intercept the train before it reaches the city and tell the truth to Kohinoor. Hanuman Baba tells Kohinoor about his past and how Ranbir slaughtered his entire family. Kohinoor leaves. Hanuman, Ali and Kohinoor reach the Kingdom. Ranbir dangles Amina's freedom if Kohinoor agrees to meet him alone. Kohinoor agrees since Amina sacrificed her own son to save Kohinoor once. Meanwhile Shaili reaches Devpur with Orey. Kohinoor and Ranbir meet and trade insults. Ranbir has chained Amina in a circular cage structure, and unleashes lions on her. The lions are blind and hence cannot be hypnotized by Kohinoor. Turns out the lions are the ones that Kohinoor played with when he was a kid. The lions refuse to attack him or Amina. Ranbir reneges on his promise and attacks Kohinoor with his army. But Ali arrives in time to thwart the attack and rescue Amina and Kohinoor. Ranbir and Suryamani take refuge in a local police station as Ali's forces surround the village. Kohinoor and Ali rescue all the animals in Ranbir's farm and set fire to his opium fields.. Shaili pursues Kohinoor, but he continues to ignore her due to her betrayal. Shaili tries to commit suicide, Kohinoor saves her but is still unconvinced about her proposed love for him. Eventually though Kohinoor relents and reciprocates her love. Meanwhile the village kids have withdrawal symptoms due to lack of opium as Ranbir had them addicted on the stuff. The doctors give up as they have no anesthetics. The only solution is to put all the kids to sleep.. If Kohinoor uses his powers to hypnotize kids, he will loose them, but he does so anyways, as he wants to save the kids of the village. Kohinoor loses his powers (unknown to him, this was all planned by a mole planted by Ranbir) and promptly Ranbir's forces attack. Hanuman is shot and Kohinoor withdraws to save him. Meanwhile Ranbir captures the entire village including Ali and Shaili. Ranbir's mother tells him that marrying Shaili would make him immune to Kohinoor. Shaili uses this to her advantage and drive a rift between Ranbir and his wife existing wife Lady Helen (Kunika). Kohinoor assembles his forces around Ranbir's palace. By the grace of God, Kohinoor retains the love of all animals, who come to his aid during the attack. In the end the animals and Kohinoor defeat Ranbir, rescues Amina, Ali and Shaili.. Kohinoor kills Ranbir by throwing him off the roof.
