Siddharth/Sidhu (Abhishek Bachchan) comes to New Delhi to further his studies and stays with his sister Esha (Ayesha Jhulka) from Allahabad. Siddharth is forced to stay with Esha by his parents, but he doesn't like his brother-in-law Rajeev (Mukesh Rishi). It was an arranged marriage and the youngsters in the house didn't like an unimpressive Rajeev as a suitable match for Esha. Rajeev is a simple, bespectacled man and Esha is extremely beautiful. During their first meeting, Rajeev had heard Sidhu complain to his father that Rajeev is not a good match for Esha. Yet, Esha is happy with Rajeev and has never been given the opportunity to complain about anything. When Siddharth gets to Delhi, the unsaid tension continues between him and Rajeev. Rajeev gives his scooter to Siddharth for conveyance. Rajeev does say much to Sidhu as he is concerned that Sidhu will be offended. Sidhu refuses the scooter and says that he will take the bus. Siddharth's spoiled friend Ganesh (Vijay Raaz) trails behind him and arrives in Delhi later, after Ganesh was kicked out of the house by his father Ram Prasad Shastri (Aanjjan Srivastav) for being a total and useless bum. Ram Prasad laments that Ganesh was notorious from kindergarten through to college, and even now could not hold on to a job. Ganesh says that he is not interested in becoming a bookkeeper for Rs 20/day, as the job can be done by a simple calculator. Siddharth, through perceived destiny and chance, runs into Jhanvi (Bhumika Chawla) on a DTC bus. Siddharth falls in love with Jhanvi, who belongs to a conservative Haryanvi family. Sidhu and Jhanvi keep running into each other at different spots in the city, but Jhanvi manages to hide from Sidhu, leaving him confused. Eventually Sidhu figures out the route that Jhanvi takes to her college and waits for her. Jhanvi's elder brother Ganpat (Mahesh Manjrekar) is a head of the family who is very protective of his family, mainly his sister, after the loss of their parents. Ganpat has already cut the hand of a Romeo who dared to follow Jhanvi and gave her a love letter. He is very critical of inter cast marriages and metes out the same treatment to other boys who fall in love with girls of his community. Only Ganpat's uncle (Goga Kapoor) is able to control his limitless rage. Initially, Jhanvi brushes off Siddharth's constant attempts to be with her (in the bus, in the temple, at the bookstore or at the mall) in order to keep him safe from Ganpat. An encounter with the thugs (Ganpat sensed that some boy was harassing Jhanvi at college and send his goons) leads Jhanvi to encourage Siddharth to run. Sidhu instead rises to the challenge and fights off all the thugs when they attack him the next time around. Jhanvi warns Sidhu that he has made an enemy out of her brother Ganpat and tells Sidhu to return to Allahabad. Ganpat issues instructions to kill Siddharth, but he is up for the challenge and inflicts severe injuries on the goons who attack him. Siddharth and Jhanvi keep meeting with each other, hiding and running from Jhanvi's brother and his men, while Siddharth fights off any thugs that follow him and threaten to hurt him or his family. While Ganpat goes to threaten Esha and her husband Rajeev (Mukesh Rishi), Siddharth threatens him back viciously as he was one step ahead of him and planned to retaliate (though falsely) by killing Ganpat's family, excluding Jhanvi. Rajeev eventually sees Siddharth with Jhanvi and understands the entire matter. Ganpat's uncle tells Ganpat that they cannot afford another mistake against Sidhu as then people would stop fearing them. He tells Ganpat to bide his time and strike at the right moment. Jhanvi overhears this conversation and is ecstatic that someone forced his brother to take a step back, as this has never happened before. Till now Ganpat felt that Siddharth was chasing Jhanvi, but one of his men sees them together and Ganpat realizes that Jhanvi also loves Siddharth. Eventually, Ganpat decides to use his thugs to beat up a boy who was giving Siddharth a hard time in school, thus giving the impression to the principal of the school that Siddharth is a thug. Siddharth is suspended in return. Then they hit Esha with a van and frame her husband for him to lose his job all at the same time. Siddharth and Jhanvi agree they should elope and get married before she gets married off. Meanwhile, Ganesh constantly gets himself conned (his suitcase is stolen a few minutes after he arrives in Delhi and Sidhu's address and telephone number were in the suitcase) and goes through various harsh realities about life. In the end, Ganesh loses all his money, his watch, his clothes, and a kidney in his hope to meet his friend Siddharth. One day, Ganesh runs into Sidhu who was in a bus. But the bus drove away while Ganesh was describing his struggles to Sidhu. All his experiences end in the form of making Ganesh accidentally a "Petticoat Baba" (he was drafted into a porn movie without his will and had to escape in a petticoat when the police arrived), a saint who is believed by the people (not by Ganesh) to be living in the Himalayas for 300 years. In the climax, Siddharth hatches a plan to bait Ganpat and his men to the wrong area and marry Jhanvi with her remaining family members (Ganpat's wife (Shweta Menon)) who care for her and Siddharth. Ganpat gets wind of this plan (he sees them at a railway crossing) and tracks them down. The newlyweds now have to run from a mass number of thugs. This leads to a final battle which ends with a one-on-one fight with Siddharth and Ganpat. Siddharth wins and refuses to deal Ganpat the death blow, allowing him to live. Ganpat allows Jhanvi and Siddharth to leave, finally accepting Siddharth as his brother in-law. Siddharth and Jhanvi leave married.

In a small rural village in India, two fathers are set on a collision course: Thakur Avadh Narayan Singh, a cruel and powerful landowner who rules with an iron fist, and Rudra, a poor laborer who remains complacent under Thakur's tyranny to protect his family. Rudra lives a modest life with his wife Paro, two sons, and his nine-year-old daughter, Durga, cherishing their love and unity despite the harsh realities of village life. The Thakur's cruelty is revealed through the tragic tale of Shiva, his now mad gardener, and Shiva's son Kisna. Kisna, an educated and idealistic young man, sought to empower the villagers through education, which Thakur saw as a threat to his control. Thakur ordered Shiva to tell Kisna to stop educating the villagers, but Kisna's fate was sealed when Thakur discovered his romantic relationship with his only daughter. Shiva, desperate to protect his son, decided to send Kisna away from the village and even slapped him in private for daring to dance with the Thakur's daughter. However, the Thakur's daughter, after being beaten by her father and brothers for her relationship with Kisna, sought refuge at Shiva's house. Bhola, the younger brother, stormed Kisna's home with the Thakur's men and forcibly took her back, while Bacchu, the elder brother, humiliated Shiva by slapping him repeatedly despite his pleas for mercy. Kisna, enraged by his father's mistreatment, retaliated by striking Bhola. The Thakur left without retaliation that day, but his revenge came the next morning. As Shiva escorted Kisna to the train station to leave the village, Thakur, Bacchu, Bhola, and their men ambushed them. In a brutal display, they beat Kisna mercilessly while Shiva begged for mercy, and Thakur personally delivered the fatal blow, killing Kisna in front of his father. Thakur's daughter, devastated by the loss of Kisna, later committed suicide. Thakur, devoid of remorse, refused to attend her funeral, leaving Shiva broken. Years later, Rudra's complacency is shattered when tragedy strikes his family. Thakur's sons, Bacchu and Bhola, drunk and enraged after being humiliated by a courtesan named Naina who chose another man over them despite being paid, encounter Durga as she returns from the market with groceries due to her mother being ill. They brutally rape and beat her before abandoning her unconscious in a ditch. When Durga fails to return home, Rudra and the villagers organize a search and find her barely alive. The horrifying attack devastates Rudra and his family. The turning point comes when Bacchu and Bhola return to the crime scene to recover Bacchu's golden chain, which he accidentally left behind. The police inspector catches them in the act, exposing their guilt. The village, along with Rudra, learns the truth about the assault, and the Thakur begins bribing his way out of trouble. The local doctor, initially willing to confirm Durga's injuries, is bribed to falsify the medical report. The local police inspector, though not loyal to Thakur, is also bribed to declare a lack of evidence. With no options left, Rudra resolves to take justice into his own hands. On the day Bacchu and Bhola are to appear in court, he ambushes and kills them both with a rifle. Furious, Thakur sends his trusted right-hand man, Uddam, to capture Rudra and his family who flee the hospital into the forest at night. Shiva, still haunted by Kisna's fate, steps in to help but is tragically killed by Uddam in the process. At Paro's urging, Rudra confronts and kills Uddam the next day when he captures Rudra and his family, avenging Shiva's death. Meanwhile, the doctor, overcome with guilt for his complicity, commits suicide. Determined to end the violence, Rudra confronts Thakur directly. In an emotional moment, he apologizes for killing Thakur's sons and pleads for peace and safety for his family. Thakur's wife, recognizing Rudra's anguish and her husband's cruelty, forgives him and allows him to turn himself in. However, Thakur, blinded by rage, orders his men to attack. The inspector, having a change of heart and attempting to arrest Thakur, is killed by his men. In the final confrontation, Rudra kills Thakur's remaining men and beats the Thakur into submission Paro then delivers the final blow, crushing Thakur to death with a rock and ending his reign of terror. Rudra then surrenders himself to the police and is sentenced to six months in prison. Upon his release, he reunites with his family, finally at peace.

Prashant Verma is employ as a reporter with 'Navkranti' a media-house that publishes daily newspaper. The unlawful activities and injustice taking place in his surrounding frustrates him to the extent of single-handily revolting. The gang affected by Prashant's behavior is headed by the notorious Tavu who in retaliation abducts and sexually molest Prashant's sister Shalini which made her commits suicide. This sets off Prashant in a wild rage to deal with all wrong-doers accordingly. —gavin (racktoo@hotmail.com) Prashant Verma works as a reporter with "Navkranti", which is owned and operated by Pandey. Everyday Prashant witnesses the regression within Bombay city, and watches silently and helplessly as gangsters take over the lives of ordinary citizens, with the police force - which is now synonymous with oppression itself, and a protector of the rights of criminals, gangsters who have links to politicians - being nothing but a mere paper tigers. One day he witnesses a murder of a drunk named Monto, which is written off as an accident by the police and the file is closed. He decides that he has had enough of being a by-stander, he approaches Police Commissioner Anand Deshmukh, and informs him of that he knows that Bharat Acharya has killed Monto. Thereafter, Prashant's orderly middle-classed life is turned upside down - he loses his job; his sister, Shalini is abducted, raped, traumatized to such an extent that she becomes numb with shock and subsequently kills herself. And now a shattered and devastated Prashant must decide to avenge this or re-locate to another city and try to put his life together again.
