During the wedding ceremony, Laxmi Devi and her sons, Surajbhan (Akhilendra Mishra), and Pratap (Deep Dhillon) forcibly take away their sister from the wedding pyre. Laxmi's husband shoots at Balram, but accidentally kill Parvati. They subsequently get Dhamini married to Kashinath (Shakti Kapoor). An enraged Angar hacks Laxmi's husband to death, is arrested and sentenced to 14 years in prison. When he returns, he makes it clear that women will not be permitted in his house, posting a sign on the front gate, and forbids his sons to ever marry. Advocate Milind Sharma (Asrani) is Angar's lawyer. Angar will take up any issue for the villagers if it against Laxmi's interests. The 4 sons are now settled in their businesses (and Jai studies in law college), but are summoned to the village by Angar, whenever he needs them. 6 years later, Dhamini's daughter Anjali is in college with Jai, Angar's youngest son. Angar learns Anjali (Kareena Kapoor) will marry the state's Home Minister. Due to the impending marriage, Anjali quits her law studies midway. Still having a grudge against women, Angar breaks the wedding by political pressure. Angar had kept 10 MLAs under his control and had threatened the Home Minister to refuse the wedding else Angar would topple the government and throw him out of a job. Dhamini had since passed away and hence Laxmi had spared no expense for Anjali's wedding. Laxmi was livid at the humiliation and only her 3rd son Veer was able to calm her down and bring the situation under control. Laxmi's Advocate Namdev tells her that Angar's family is strong and together since they do not have woman among them. He says that a woman is a sure fire way to divide the family. Angar tells Milind that he is not willing to forget the past and will only be at peace when Laxmi and her 2 sons who killed Parvati, are dead. Anjali is Laxmi's granddaughter. Jai humiliates Anjali when she returns to Uday Pratap Law College after her failed engagement. Anjali returns home livid with anger and rage. Suraj, Pratap and Veer want to avenge Anjali's honor by attacking Angar's home. Laxmi convinces Anjali to trick Jai into falling in love with her to cause a rift in the family. Jai meets with Anjali, who openly admits that she is attracted to him. Jai, at first rejects her and is even hostile to her, then decides to teach her and her family a lesson. Lucky makes Jai realize that pretending to be in love with Anjali would be a great way to humiliate her family. Both feign their love for each other. Veer comes to college and finds Anjali with Jai. He proceeds to beat up Jai, when Anjali intervenes and explains that she is doing this on Laxmi's bidding. Jai's brothers find out about the fight and come to college. They want to know who hit Jai and find that it was Veer. Jai manages to convince them that he will deal with the situation in his own way. Subsequently Anjali admits that she wanted to come close to Jai to extract vengeance, as well as Jai admitting his agenda. Both go their separate ways but find that they are indeed in love with each other. Lucky tells Jai to marry Anjali and to run with her to Dubai. Anjali leaves college as she does not want to admit her feelings to Jai, but Jai follows her to her village Anpara and meets her inside her house by hoodwinking her family. They both agree that they love each other and want to get married. In order to get wed, Jai must first convince his elder brothers to get married albeit in vain as none of them even want to consider this option. Then Lucky, Jai's friend, finds out that Kishan, a seemingly celibate Bhagwan Hanuman's devotee, is leading a dual life as Murari, who has been married to a woman, Gopi (Farha Naaz), from Gangapur, for 7 years and has two children, a son and a daughter. When Angar finds out he kicks Kishan and Jai out of his house. A marriage is finalized with Laxmi's Advocate Namdev Mishra's (Manoj Joshi) son Dr. Satyendra "Sattu" Mishra (Sharad Kelkar) for Anjali, but after Jai and Anjali acknowledge their love for each other to her family, Pratap and Surajbhan approach Angar to help them stop Jai from disrupting this marriage on one hand, while Laxmi tells Jai to marry Anjali - setting off confrontations between the estranged sons and father. Jai, Kishan and his wife Gopi, and Lucky sneak into the wedding festival with the help of Anjali's uncle Veeru/Veer (Suniel Shetty). Jai is dressed as the bridegroom and successfully completes the wedding ceremony. Once Laxmi recognizes Jai in disguise, she confronts Angar to cut his own son's throat. Jai tells his father he won't go through with the wedding without his approval. Balram the oldest of the brothers finally tells Jai to place the wedding necklace on Anjali's neck which finalizes the wedding. The necklace is grabbed from Jai's hands and a race goes throughout the wedding hall chasing Jai to stop him, but in the end, Jai succeeds, and the marriage is completed. Anjali asks her grandmother to stop the feud their families and Jai asks his father for forgiveness. Angar leaves the wedding and contemplates all his son's actions on the way home. All brothers and the two wives arrive and the gate. Angar looks at his sons and takes the sign off the gate and finally welcomes women back into his family.

Veer Thakur (Salman Khan) lives with his parents, Thakur Kunal Singh (Sharat Saxena), and mom Thakurain Geeta (Nishigandha Wad), and is in love with Muskaan (Dia Mirza). They are about to get married when Veer gets visions which have never happened to him. One day as the CM was giving a speech, Veer spots a sniper aiming at him and runs to stop him. However, on reaching there he finds there is no sniper. Convinced that something has been hidden from him all along, Veer gets restless. Thakur tells him then that he is not their son, neither the real Veer. Veer (Arbaaz Khan) had died in serving in the line of duty as a soldier and then while immersing his ashes, they found a man who had no memories of his past. They brought him hoke as Veer. To find out his identity, Veer (Salman) goes to Mumbai. There he meets a teenager who calls him Ali bhaiya. The teenager dies protecting him from an assassin. Meanwhile, Veer meets Inder (Inder Kumar) and it is confirmed that his name is Ali. The teenager was his orphaned brother and Inder was his friend. The girl who he saw in his dreams, was Mehak (Sushmita Sen), his love. He learns that he was on a run from the police for shooting the CM, which was only a plan that he was supposed to enact but the CM was actually shot and killed instead. Now the rest is how Ali finds the real killer and frees himself from the malicious accusation of murdering the CM.

Major Pratab Singh works in the Indian army and he and his battalion has been assigned duty near the Indo-Pakistan border. There duty mainly consists of eliminating any terrorists trying to cross the Indian border. A Pakistan leader Gul Mustan and well known Lala is plotting to liberate Kashmir from India so that they can take control in there own way but things does not go accordingly as one loyalist of Lala; Albaksh begins to leak important information about there plans to the Indian army. Pratap Singh is in charge of a battalion seeking to stop influx of terrorists and Pakistani soldiers from entering India's borders. On the side of the Pakistanis, a leader Gul Mastan, is interested in liberating Kashmir from India, and will leave no stone unturned in order to achieve this. His motive is to rule Kashmir as his own state. He enlists his loyal mercenary Albaksh to achieve this objective. But events turn Albaksh against his master, and gets him on the run, first from the Pakistanis, and then on touching India's border, by the Indian soldiers. Pratap captures Albaksh and promises he will be taken to safety in India. Hero (Salman Khan) works for a courier company owned by Khanna (Shakti Kapoor). He is spirited and humorous and is in love with Rani (Rani Mukerji), but she simply thinks of Hero as a good friend. Rani lives with her mother (Sulabha Arya). Hero specializes in giving Purple Nurples, while Rani is looking for a guy who is a Prince, tall, with a wide chest, and with a grand car. Hero has none of those things and drives a moped. Rani gets a job as a teacher in a school. Enter Inspector Vishal (Arbaaz Khan), who works in the narcotics department and has the reputation of being unrelenting towards drug smugglers and peddlers. Since Vishal has eradicated the drug business in Goa, he is transferred to Mumbai. His new commanding officer is Senior Inspector AK Khan (Neeraj Vora). Vishal is given Constable Hatella (Johny Lever) to support him. Khan assigns a case to Vishal where a man was caught supplying drugs under the guise of being a courier person. Vishal suspects Khanna to be involved in a drug ring and confronts him at a golf course. Khanna denies all knowledge of the case and says that his courier person was using Khanna's company to run a side business in drugs. Hero stands up to Vishal and defends his boss. Hero is a fun-loving person and teases Vishal with his antics and gags. Hero knows that Vishal is following him and keeping an eye to see if Hero is also into supplying drugs on behalf of Khanna. Hero knows Vishal is looking for evidence against Khanna and is convinced that there is no evidence to be found. Hero tells Vishal that he will never do a task which gets him to lose his self-respect in his own eyes or in the eyes of his Chawl where he lives. But soon Hero learns the truth behind Khanna. Khanna assigns extra deliveries to Hero to help him achieve his dream of impressing Rani. Khanna had asked Hero to deliver a parcel, which gets damaged during an accident on the road. Hero finds that the parcel contained drugs. Hero still believes that someone else is using Khanna and goes to his warehouse to warn him. Meanwhile, Vishal was following Hero and also enters the warehouse. Khanna realizes that Hero had found out everything about his drugs business and believes that Hero can go to the police. In a confrontation at the city docks, Khanna kills Hero (Hero had come to warn Khanna, but when Khanna heard the police sirens, he suspected that Hero had told the police everything) and shoots Vishal in the heart. The police department decides to transplant Hero's heart into Vishal's body. Hero now appears as a ghost and can only be seen by Vishal, since his heart is in Vishal's body. Vishal realizes that Hero is telling the truth, when he is shown Hero's dead body by Hatella and Khan. Hero says that he will only rest in peace after Khanna is killed, thus avenging him. Rani was out of town for a few days. When she returns, her mother informs her of Hero's death and the fact that he was involved in drugs trafficking. Rani refuses to believe that Hero was involved in any illegal activities. Rani realizes that Hero's body is still lying unclaimed in the morgue. Rani goes to the morgue to claim Hero's body and to perform his last rites. Vishal sees Rani for the first time at Hero's cremation. Vishal has a tickling sensation in his heart when he sees Rani, presumably because it is Hero's heart, who used to love Rani. Vishal takes control of a hostage situation at the school where Rani is a teacher. Vishal successfully enters the school, kills the terrorists and rescues all the kids as well as Rani. Rani starts to see Vishal in a positive light. They begin to date. Vishal and Rani begin to fall in love with each other. Hero dislikes this and tries to foil Vishal's plans of getting close to Rani. Hero gets Vishal to dress funny and to perform silly antics which make Rani question whether Vishal is mature enough to be her partner. Rani is livid with Vishal and Vishal tries to explain that someone else has made his life hell but is not able to. But Hero and Vishal start getting closer and work together, becoming good friends after Vishal confronts Khanna's drug company. Hero tells Vishal that Khanna is trying to liquidate his drugs stock and exit the country in haste. Vishal raids Khanna's warehouse and captures a shipment of drugs. Khanna arranges to leave the country, but kidnaps Rani. Vishal and Hero go to save Rani and fight off Khanna's henchmen, but Vishal gets injured. Hero then enters Vishal's body and controls his fighting moves, helping him to beat the thugs. Rani witnesses this and realizes that only Hero would do those kinds of moves. She calls out Hero's name, though Vishal does not know that Hero is inside him. Rani then calls out to warn Vishal that a plane is moving towards him. Vishal and Hero stop the plane, which Khanna is in, and then confront him. As they are talking, Vishal becomes distracted, speaking to Hero, and Khanna takes the opportunity to shoot Vishal. Hero takes Vishal's hand and shoots Khanna with the gun. Khanna finally dies, and as Rani is comforting Vishal, he tells her that Hero is with them, and he loves Rani. Rani then tells Vishal to tell Hero that she loves Vishal. Khanna's ghost rises from his dead body and Hero hits him. Khanna is taken to Hell and Hero is taken to Heaven. Afterwards, Rani and Vishal have gotten married and are spending their wedding night and honeymoon in a house on the water. It is shown that Hero, now an angel, is happily watching over them from Heaven.

Muskaan, a village belle who lives on a farm with her brother Vishal and uncle, goes to Mumbai to pursue college. Whilst in the big city, she meets Suraj, an underachieving student and both fall in love. All goes well for all the couple until Vishal takes Muskaan back to the farm. Suraj follows Muskaan to her village to ask for her hands, but first, he has to impress Vishal, which would put his love and resolute to test.

Satyadev Singh lives with his wife, Ganga, and two sons, Sham and Ghansham, and their family leads a fairly comfortable life. Things turn for the worse for them when a new corrupt Collector named Bhim Singh enters their region. Satyadev is killed, and Ganga has to flee with her children away from this region, and from Bhim Singh. Years later, Sham and Ghansham have grown up and would like to avenge their father's death.
