The story is about a man, Bruce Hickman, and his relationship with another man, Frank; the thing that they have in common is the relation with a deaf person. With this relation the characters will discover lots of things about their past.

The film follows his seemingly bi-polar life from being abandoned by his father at an orphanage, to the discovery of his tremendous home-run hitting ability and finally to his later days. Several items from his legend are included (whether true or not) including: His calling of of a home run, the promise to a dying youngster to hit two home runs in a game that day, and the quote that he had a better year than the president.

Tale of three different couples (Yuppies, Hippies and Society Folk) who find some common ground and become friends after being assigned to the same school project. A blind man who hears the killer, and a deaf man who sees them. The police don't think they're credible witnesses, but the killers don't want to take any chances. He recently hired Wally Karue (Richard Pryor), a blind man. A murder is committed in front of the store and both are present but due to their impairments, can't identify the murderer. They are the police's prime suspects and are arrested for the murder. They manage to escape but now they have the police and the actual murderers after them. —grantss

When shy Larry Hubbard finds his girlfriend in bed with another man he is forced to begin a new life as single. But since he can't bear being on his own he tries to court Iris who is not however interested in him. Larry begins writing a book on his experience as a single which unexpectedly becomes a best seller. A successful playwright employs a new female writing partner, and it's love on first sight, but it happens to be the day he gets married. They both suppress their feelings for each other in order to form a successful writing partnership.

Perhaps the the best word one could use to describe this storyline would be "serpentine," so let's dig in. We start with an armored truck marked as belonging to the US Treasury Department. The truck is hijacked in a rather clever way, but the thieves aren't looking for the money inside; instead there's something else in there that they're after, but we're not sure what it is yet. The thieves get away and one of them meets with a man named Vince, played by Peter Falk. He gives the ill-gotten gains to Vince and tells him that he needs to pay the fee for it the next day. Vince is appalled by the short timeline but promises to work something out. From there we meet a mild-mannered Manhattan dentist named Sheldon Kornpett (Alan Arkin). His daughter Barbara (Penny Peyser) is about two days away from getting married to Tommy Ricardo (Michael Lembeck). He and his wife Carol (Nancy Dussault) are going to meet Tommy's parents for the first time. All they know about Tommy's dad is that he's involved with international business deals somehow. Tommy and his parents show up late for the dinner...and we learn that his father is Vince. Sheldon is a little suspicious of Vince, because he's telling some weird stories about a nine-month stint in Guatemala that involves giant tsetse flies with beaks, and the Guacamole Act of 1917. At an introductory dinner in which Sheldon meets his new in-law Vince, he finds Vince suspicious; during the dinner, Vince tells a crazy story of a nine-month "consulting" trip to 1954 Guatemala. Vince's son and wife (Arlene Golonka) seem oblivious. At one point in the dinner Vince excuses himself to make a phone call, and he hides something in the basement. Later that night, Sheldon pleads with his daughter not to marry into the Ricardo clan, since he doesn't trust Vince, but he is talked into giving the marriage a chance. The following day, Vince appears at Sheldon's office, claiming that he wanted to say hello. He asks Sheldon for help with a five-minute errand that involves breaking into Vince's office safe. Sheldon reluctantly agrees. After retrieving a mysterious black bag from Vince's cramped office in an old Herald Square office building, two armed hit men surprise Sheldon. After a chase down a fire escape and the ensuing shootout, Vince explains to Sheldon-in the middle of a crowded diner, no less-that he has worked for the CIA since the Eisenhower administration and robbed the United States Mint of engraving plates to crack a worldwide inflation plot hatched in Central America. He also mentions that he's gone rogue, because the CIA thought the caper was too risky and turned him down. Vince claims that Sheldon is not involved. However, if Vince is caught, he will be jailed for 20 years and fired from the CIA. Vince further upsets Sheldon by mentioning he left one of the engraving plates in the basement of Sheldon's house the previous night. While taking a delivery of supplies for the wedding, Mrs. Kornpett discovers the engraving and brings it to her local bank, where she is informed by the U.S. Treasury Department that it was stolen. Sheldon arrives home to find vehicles from the Treasury Department parked out front, and he high-tails it out of there, leading to a car chase through suburban New Jersey. After shaking the Feds, Sheldon calls Vince and explains what happened. Vince tells Sheldon he wants him to accompany him to Scranton, Pennsylvania, and the whole ordeal will be cleared up by the time they return. At a small airport near Lodi, New Jersey, Vince and Sheldon board a private jet. We get a very funny scene aboard the plane involving one of the plane's crew, played by James Hong. To Sheldon's dismay, during the flight he notices they are flying over the ocean. Vince assures Sheldon they are still going to Scranton, but they need to make a brief stop along the way in Tijata, a small island south of Honduras. When they arrive, Vince is supposed to meet a corrupt member of the small country's legislature, General Jesus Braunschweiger. But shortly after they land, Jesus is shot and killed before he can greet and debrief the two. Vince and Sheldon fall under sniper fire and, using the general's car, escape and drive into town. At their hotel, Sheldon, understandably tired of the ordeal, refuses to be shot at anymore. Vince agrees to leave him out of the rest of the operation. Sheldon goes to the lobby on a pretense and calls the United States Embassy to tell the story so far. Barry Lutz, the CIA agent-in-charge (Ed Begley Jr.) tells him that Vince is a madman who was mentally discharged from the agency a year earlier . Sheldon tells this to Vince, who prevents him from escaping, assuring Sheldon that the embassy told him that specifically to get Sheldon off the trail. Sheldon is still reluctant. Leaving the hotel, Vince hails a taxi driven by one of the airport snipers. Sheldon realizes who it is and chases after it, eventually leaping onto the roof of the car. Vince takes control of the car, crashing into a fruit market. The car chase resumes, this time with Sheldon INSIDE the car. They manage to get away and they reach the general's estate. General Garcia (Richard Libertini) gives them $20 million for the plates, awards them medals, and promptly marches them in front of a firing squad. Vince stalls for time until hundreds of CIA agents, led by Barry Lutz, overwhelm the army and take Garcia into custody. Lutz reveals that Vince was telling the truth the entire time. However, Vince suddenly announces his retirement, as he has had enough and he's looking forward to grandchildren. He gives Lutz the $10 million he had agreed to deliver from the general. The general overhears this and protests that he gave them $20 million but Vince says he's clearly crazy. We next find ourselves at the wedding. Everybody's there but Vince and Sheldon. They get ready to start without the fathers but suddenly a helicopter shows up and lowers a cable with Vince and Sheldon, sitting on a plank and wearing top hats and tails. They say that the wedding can start in five minutes, once the Paramus Symphony Orchestra, whom they've hired for the day, has tuned up. The men each give their children a million dollars as a wedding gift. Suddenly a government vehicle shows up and it's Lutz. He's furious at Vince. Sheldon is about to confess, but before he can, it comes out that Lutz is only angry about not being invited to the wedding. The orchestra begins to play and the wedding goes forward.

One of comedies true originals - the master of wit and good, mean fun, the curmudgeonly, and very original, the legendary W.C. Fields' is wonderfully portrayed by Rod Steiger in this off-beat biopic.

A hospital's chief-of-staff struggles to find meaning in his life during a spate of staff deaths. Dr. Herbert Bock (George C. Scott), the chief of medicine in a New York City teaching hospital, is contemplating suicide. He's impotent, his wife has left him, and his children aren't speaking to him. His hospital is also suffering from a recent spate of inexplicable deaths. In the midst of these setbacks, Bock is romantically drawn to the much younger Barbara Drummond (Dame Diana Rigg), whose father is a patient. As Barbara restores Bock's will to live, it turns out that the hospital deaths are murders.

Three vignettes, each set in room 719 of New York's Plaza Hotel, make up this comedy. Three separate stories concerning relationship issues are presented, each largely taking place in suite 719 of the Plaza Hotel in New York City. In story one, suburban New Yorkers Sam and Karen Nash are spending the night in the hotel as their house is being painted, but more importantly for Karen because it is their twenty-"something" wedding anniversary, the hotel where they spent their honeymoon. While Karen wants to recreate the romance that she remembers of their wedding night, Sam is preoccupied with business matters. But it is other issues that highlight their fundamental differences that may demonstrate if they will make it to twenty-something plus one. In story two, womanizing Hollywood movie producer Jesse Kiplinger has exactly two hours free during his whirlwind stay in New York, which he wants to fill with a quickie. Of the many women he calls, the first to agree to meet at his suite is his old hometown flame, married Muriel Tate. Muriel, who knows what Jesse wants, he who she has not seen in fifteen years, is a bundle of nerves as she continuously second guesses herself in whether she should have come. And in story number three, there are a roomful of people in the Baroque Room of the hotel for the wedding and following reception of Borden Eisler and Mimsey Hubley, the event which is being paid for by Mimsey's penny-pinching father, Roy Hubley. What the people in the Baroque Room are unaware of is that Mimsey has locked herself in the bathroom of the hotel suite, but not saying a word to either her father or mother, Norma Hubley, as to the reason for her cold feet. As Roy and Norma try whatever they can to get Mimsey out of the bathroom while stalling the Eislers in the Baroque Room, Roy and Norma also focus on issues in their own relationship and how they raised Mimsey, which may be appropriate if they learn the reason for Mimsey's cold feet. —Huggo Film version of the Neil Simon play has three separate acts set in the same hotel suite in New York's Plaza Hotel with Walter Matthau in a triple role. In the first, Karen Nash tries to get her inattentive husband Sam's attention to spruce up their failing marriage. In the second, brash film producer Jesse Kiplinger tries to get his former one-time flame Muriel to see him for what he stands for. In the third, Roy Hubley and his wife Norma try and try to get their uncertain-of-herself daughter out of the bathroom before her approaching wedding. —Matthew Patay

In the early 1800s, Prince Keoki Kanakoa of the Hawaiian island of Maui scolds the Yale Divinity School that they have not sent missionaries to his home but others in New England have come to take their land and bring their diseases. A new minister. Reverend Abner Hale, volunteers, along with others. But school leader Dr. Reverend Thorn informs him they will not send him until he is married, knowing the temptations of being around the native women would be too much. Dr. Thorn instructs Hale to come to his sister's house in Walpole, New Hampshire. He has persuaded Abigail and her husband Charles that their daughter, Jerusha, would do better to marry Hale than pine endlessly over her sailor that is the object of her affection, Captain Rafer Hoxworth. Captain Hoxworth is a whaler who returned to the see but seems to have abandoned her. Abner and Jerusha marry and, along with the other volunteers and Prince Keoki, sail for Lahaina, Maui. Abner and Keoki travel well but the rest are endlessly plagued with seasickness. Once in Lahaina, the native women wear no covering above the waist and swim out to greet the ship. The sailors on the ship are quite open of their sexual contact with the native women. This scandalizes the missionaries only to be topped when they learn that incest is practiced by the natives, including the queen. Keoki's father, Kelolo, is both the husband and biological brother of Keoki's mother Malama Kanakoa, the Ali'i Nui or the ruler whom the people consider god-like. Incest is believed to maintain a pure royal bloodline, and Keoki is expected to marry his sister, Noelani, who will one day become the Ali'i Nui. But, Keoki wants to be ordained as a Christian minister and learns from Abner Hale he must refuse it. Hale is infuriated at the altar to Hawaiian idols and has to be physically restrained from destroying them. The Hales labor to construct a church while residing in a grass hut. After saving a baby with a facial birthmark, Jerusha aids the locals and works to put an end to the custom of drowning babies who are malformed or unsightly. Micah, a son, is Jerusha's first child, born after a challenging labor. A little Hawaiian girl named Iliki, who was assigned to the Hales as a servant, is baptized by Abner as his first conversion. Malama consents to study Christianity, but she doesn't want to become a Christian as it would mean having to send Kelolo away. Malama sets a curfew for sailors and prohibits them from mingling with island girls at the Hales' request. Leading the protesting seamen is Captain Hoxworth, who has paused his whaling expedition. When Hoxworth learns that Jerusha is living in Lahaina and is wed to Reverend Hale, whom he hates for motivating Malama to enforce the restrictions, he is devastated. After helping to save the church from partial fire set by the sailors, the Hawaiians drive the sailors back to their ships. Hoxworth seduces Iliki to leave the island with him in retribution for Abner's marriage to Jerusha. When Abner reaches for her, he tosses him overboard. A shark attacks, leaving him walking with a limp. On her deathbed, Malama makes the decision to give up Kelolo as her spouse and undergo Christian baptism. The church is destroyed by a powerful gale that sweeps in after an Ali'i Nui dies, just as the islanders predicted. When Abner tells Keoki that he will never be ordained because he is not white, Keoki rejects Christianity and turns back to his original faith. Noelani takes up the role of Ali'i Nui. Abner learns that Keoki and Noelani are now married and that Malama converted to Christianity solely for the benefit of her people. The infant of Noelani and Keoki is terribly malformed upon birth. Jerusha begs Abner to save the baby, but he refuses, thinking it is God's retribution. Hale learns the child was drowned by Keoki. Jerusha died young because she was weak after years of overworking and having children. Abner grows closer to and more protective of the Hawaiian people after losing Jerusha. In an effort to stop plantation owners and white settlers from annexing additional land, he joins them. Abner votes against the other ministers' desire to acquire and profit from the land, and as a result, he is given to pastor a Connecticut parish. His three children are sent to the Bromley family in New England since he will not leave Hawaii. When Abner gets back to his hut, a young native man awaits him and tells him he wants to aid in Hale's missionary work. When he realizes that the young man was the disfigured baby Jerusha saved from drowning years ago, he is delighted.
